A year ago, we changed our logo and added the tag line
«Hardware and Software». Many people then wondered what it would
mean effectively. Well, the answer is on the next page of this brochure,
starting with Origin, a bold proposition for any musician interested in
seeking true innovation in the World of synthesizers.
Origin is Arturia’s first piece of Hardware, but it does not mean we gaveup on what musicians love with our productions. With the Jupiter-8V, we
bring to you a classy recreation of the Roland Jupiter-8, a synthesizer
holding a special place in many people’s hearts.
For Arturia, these two projects have been challenging and exciting. So
we hope the Origin and Jupiter-8V synthesizers will be as exciting for
you. As usual, we have done our best to serve the modern musician
with innovative and high quality tools. The next few pages describe the
result of those efforts.

Be original
Origin is the first Arturia Hardware synthesizer.
It is a modular system of a new generation opening
innovative avenues in sound design. Loaded with modules
extracted from the best synthesizers of all time (Moog
Modular, ARP 2600, CS-80, Minimoog and Prophet V)
and from new modules created by Arturia, Origin lets
you combine these elements. The result: a new type of
sound accessible through an extremely intuitive interface.
SOUND WITH AN ATTITUDE

rigin sounds like nothing else on the planet.
It takes the concept of the analog modular
systems of the past to a new level using cutting
edge digital technology.
You can combine
different modules from different systems together,
designing new synthesizers that have never
existed. Take the oscillators from the Minimoog,
the filters from the CS-80 and the Bode shifter
from the Moog Modular V to create your own synth.
The Multi mode lets you play up to 4 synthesizers
at the same time. You can layer them to create
amazing sounds, split a keyboard or use Origin as
a source for 4 different tracks in your sequencer.
In addition, the Macro mode allows you to control
the 4 synths at the same time, making Origin one
single instrument. When you know that each of
these synths can be as big as the Moog Modular
V, you get a glimpse at the power beneath this
beast.
Origin is based on TAE®, True Analog Emulation,
wich guarantees an extremely warm, lively and
powerful sound.
How can Arturia manage to do this in a standalone
hardware synth? Origin uses two Analog Devices
TigerSHARC® DSP processors that actually have
more audio power than even the newest multi
core PC processors.
Beside that, Origin is not a simple Hardware
synthesizer, it is an integrated system offering the
best out of the Hardware and Software Worlds:
Origin can be used as stand alone to play live on
stage and also as a plug-in with your sequencer
in the studio environment.

THREE SYNTHESIZERS IN ONE

rophet-5: the virtual emulation offered in
the Prophet V is an exact and ameliorated
replica of the original instrument. It uses the
same subtractive synthesis model, which refers
to the filtering of sounds in a specific way for the
creation of rich waveforms and new timbres.
Prophet-VS: the Prophet VS uses four wave
table oscillators. The oscillator waveforms are
digitally stored in a table which the user can
freely select. That gives this typical classic 80’s
wave table synthesis sound heard in many hit

MinimooG V
TECHNOLOGY MEETS HISTORY
From the starship funk lead lines of the 70’s, to the gangster whine
of mid 90’s hip-hop, the ever present minimoog has been making
its presence felt for over 3 decades. We decided to reproduce the
legendary interface with the same look and feel as the original
because of its particular «mood», and because many musicians
wish to use the same interface they used in the past. But the
reproduction of this synthesizer does not stop to the look and feel,
we also recreated its inside characteristics…

THE HI-FIDELITY “NEW” MOOG SOUND
T
he oscillators: we have recreated the
exact characteristics of each oscillator,
with their particular sound. As with any
discrete
component
analog
oscillator,
the minimoog V produces «freerunning»
waveforms that we have faithfully reproduced,
thanks to our TAE® exclusive technology.
The filter: the minimoog V filter is a true emulation
of the renowned typical 24dB moog 4 stage filter.
One feature of the Minimoog filter is that the
emphasis decreases when the cutoff frequency
is low. This allows a special characteristic of
sound that lets the bass pass through the filter
when playing lower sounds. The soft clipping
behavior of the minimoog amplification stages
does add some pleasant harmonics to the
sound, making basses sound more powerful.
Our contribution: What all generations of
minimoog users dreamt of: polyphony! But
we have also added more new features: Delay
and Chorus effects, a Modulation Matrix which
allows assigning MIDI control to any controllable
parameter. An extra oscillator has been added for
modulation purpose. Finally, we have developed
an Arpeggiator which allows the keyboardist to
control note sequencing from a single note or a
chord.

Storm Music Studio is complete music creation software, which
emulates the environment of a production studio: synthesizers,
drum machines, sample players, sequencer, effects, mixing desk…
all the major tools are included in the package! It is primarily made
for beginners and amateurs who do not necessarily have knowledge
of studio technology: its included Composition Wizard is a great help
for learning the tricks of the trade of how to compose in several

RASS provides three physically modeled
instruments:
Trumpet,
Trombone

Saxophone. They can be played individually
or combined in mixed sections with up to 4
simultaneous instruments. The Live Mode allows
incredible realism and expressivity thanks
to a fully controllable 8 parameters panel
especially developed for real time playing. A
complete assignation page allows assigning
MIDI information like Velocity, Aftertouch,
Modulation… to numerous parameters like
Attack, Pressure, Vibrato…
The Riff Mode consists of an extensive library
of hundreds of modifiable musical phrases. It
is possible to select, play from the keyboard,
chose the key, and edit the Riffs. MIDI Import
