Joint CE Session with Greater Kansas City Dental Society
8:30am-4:30pm at Arrowhead Stadium Tower Club East
Crown and Bridge
GPS: Navigating the Maze of
Indirect Dentistry Today
Presented by Dr. Parag Kachalia
The world of indirect dentistry was relatively easy to
understand for many years when choices were limited to
gold and porcelain fused to metal restorations, however,
things have most definitely changed. The world of
dentistry today offers numerous choices in terms of
various ceramics, cements, and technologies and the
practitioner is left wondering which path he or she
should go down. This course will help the practitioner
navigate this maze and understand the advances in
each aspect of crown and bridge restorations so that
predictable results are achieved. Furthermore, the
course will look specifically at technologies and
materials that are available today that allow predictable
impressions to be achieved both in the traditional
impression world and digital world.
Upon completion of this course, attendees
will learn:






Digital diagnostics technologies that can be
leveraged in treatment planning indirect restorations
Advances in ceramic materials - where, when, and
how
How to obtain predictable impressions
New technologies and materials in the impressions
arena
An overview of CAD/CAM dentistry with respect to
traditional restorations as well as implant
restorations
The evidenced-based protocols surrounding
cementation with respect to traditional and implant
restorations
Dr. Parag Kachalia, DDS

8:00am to 2:30pm (Check In Begins at 7:30am)
Presented by Dr. Robert Marus, DDS
Treatment of the Anterior Fractured Tooth
& Posterior, Cervical and Incisal
Composites
Dr. Robert Marus, DDS
Today's restorative dentists need to enhance their cosmetic skills in order to achieve
growth and profitability in their practices. This lecture and hands-on workshop will
demonstrate a simplified method of restoring the fractured maxillary anterior central
incisor with composite resin using the intraoral composite mock-up technique.
Additionally, as a result of the latest nanomicrohybrid composite technology, dentists
can now quickly, easily and predictably treat posterior teeth, cervical (abfraction)
lesions and incisal wear with beauty, strength and function beyond patient
expectations. Improvements in composite polymerization shrinkage, reduction of
internal stress and occlusal wear, have made composite material a great esthetic
option. This lecture will also demonstrate, in a step-by-step fashion, how to place
posterior composites quickly and easily, so that an aesthetic result with a high
success rate and predictable outcome can be achieved.
Participants will also learn:
 how to quickly treat the classic fractured anterior tooth with a simplified composite layering technique
 how to place flowable composite in cervical (abfraction) lesions so that they don’t fall out
 how to place sensitivity free posterior composites quickly, with sealed sub-gingival margins
 how to quickly fabricate temporary crowns and veneers
 instant orthodontics with composite bonding
 no prep and minimal prep porcelain veneers
 more clinical tips and skills in anterior and posterior composite placement to promote your practice
After taking this course, you will be educated on the treatment modalities and types of cosmetic restorations that can
impact your ability to deliver a new level of dentistry.
About Dr. Marus...
Cosmetic Dentist, Dr. Robert Marus of Yardley, Pennsylvania, is accredited by the American Academy of Cosmetic
Dentistry. The Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry is the premiere organization for the specialty of cosmetic dentistry. He
is one of five dentists in the state of Pennsylvania to receive this honor. There are only 300 accredited members
worldwide. Dr. Marus has demonstrated an insatiable passion and skill for creating beautiful ”celebrity smiles”.
Equipped with superior dental materials and artistic ability, he has achieved many smile makeovers of tremendous
beauty and natural appearance.
Dr. Marus approaches each smile makeover the way an artist approaches a painting. The “celebrity smile” is achieved
by matching a new smile with the patient’s face shape and features. The entire face is carefully studied and
considered in order to achieve symmetry, balance and natural beauty. In a world of heightened dental awareness and
desire for a youthful smile, Dr. Marus sets the standard for excellence in cosmetic dentistry. A graduate of NYU
College of Dentistry, Dr. Marus received his dental degree in 1985, completed his residency at The Jamaica Hospital
in New York and holds membership in The American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, The American Dental
Association, The Pennsylvania Dental Association and the Montgomery-Bucks Dental Society. Dr. Marus currently
lectures to dentists on techniques in cosmetic dentistry and has been published in numerous national and
international publications.
Most recently, Dr. Marus has been featured as the cosmetic dentist on the CN8 television show “It’s Your Call”, hosted
by Emmy-Award winner Lynn Doyle airing nationally on the Comcast Network.
