JUVENILE OFFICE— The Juvenile Office facilitates the care, protection and discipline of
children who come within the jurisdiction of the juvenile court. Each child coming within the
jurisdiction of the juvenile court shall receive care such care, guidance and control as will
conduce to the child’s welfare and the best interests of the state, and that when such child is
removed from the control of his parents, the court shall secure for his/her care as nearly as

COMMUNITY SERVICES, INC.— The mission of Community Services, Inc. is to empower
the people of need in Northwest Missouri to achieve their goals and improve their quality of life.
Community Services Block Grant (CSBG): Meets the needs to specific target groups through
several programs aimed at making individuals self-sufficient. The goal of CSBG is to find ways
to address the five pillars of poverty through local initiatives and partnerships with community
businesses, agencies, and organizations.
Head Start: Is a federally funded child and family development program serving 188 children
locally. Children involved with Head Start will build kindergarten readiness skills to promote
their school success and abilities to learn.
Housing and Urban Development (HUD): HUD helps eligible families, the elderly and disabled
obtain decent, affordable housing within the five CSI counties. CSI HUD offers rental and utility
assistance to individuals in the five county area excluding areas inside the city limits of
Maryville.
Weatherization Assistance Program: Weatherization works to conserve energy, create healthy
and safe home, and reduce the cost of utilities. Service availability is based on the resident’s
income and can be provided to renters and home owners who live in apartments, mobile homes,
duplexes and single family dwellings. Energy saving measures may include: caulking, weatherstripping, repairing/replacing furnaces and, insulating hot water heaters, walls and floors. The
FREE Weatherization Assistance Program serves all nine (9) Northwest Missouri counties.
