SPORTS LEADERS
AWARDS
We encourage leadership and officiating both within lessons and in an extra-curricular
context. Pupils are recognised and rewarded for the following roles;
• Class PE Captains
• Team Captains
• House PE Captains
• School Games Captains
In addition to this the pupils in Year 9 complete an in house Sports Leadership award and then
take on the responsibility of running clubs at break times for the pupils. Over 45 Year 9s
completed this award and helped to organise local Primary competitions and the Merseyside
Indoor athletics competition. Regular participation in Leadership contributes to the
Greenbank Leadership Academy award scheme. 150 pupils have completed this award over
the past 3 years.
Key Stage 4 pupils can extend their Leadership experience by completing Sports specific
course such as netball leaders and the Level 1 Sports Leaders Course. Year 10 and 11 Sports
leaders assist with the Year 7 G and T skills club.
