Welcome to the Methuen Activity Center, a gathering place for retirees of all ages to
continue their life journey, learn new things, make new friends, enjoy special moments and
stay actively engaged in the community. Membership is not required, so individuals can drop
in and participate at their own pace. Activities vary from month to month. Stop by for a

Merrimack Valley, Inc. will present Open Enrollment
information at the Methuen Senior Activity Center. The
SHINE program provides free assistance to Medicare
beneficiaries by presenting accurate, unbiased
information regarding Medicare options. Medicare
options may change annually, so this session is a great
opportunity to learn how to make the most cost-effective
choice for you!

Looking for a challenge and a chance to make new
friends? Come play! Mondays, Mahjong, an ancient
Chinese tile game from 1-3pm. Scrabble, Dominoes or
other board games on Tuesdays from 1-3pm. Michigan
Rummy Wednesdays from 9:30-11:30am. Bridge on
Thursday afternoons from 12:30-3:30pm. Don’t forget
about Bingo on Mondays, 1:00-3:00pm and
Shuffleboard on Tuesdays from 8:30-11:30am. And if
none of that appeals to you, there’s always a puzzle in
the works! Everyone is welcome to participate!
THRIFT SHOP HELP!
Do you have just 3 hours to spare, once a week? Thrift
Shop volunteers are needed for the following time slots:

Volunteers greet customers, run the register, stock and
organize donated merchandise and keep the shop tidy.
It’s fun! You get to meet some really great people and
come across some very interesting things. Our Thrift
Shop is one of the on-going fundraising efforts used to
supplement our budget and keep our center running.
We depend upon our dedicated volunteers who so
generously give their time to help!

ATTENTION: EZ TRANS RIDERS
Financial assistance is available for the purchase of EZ
Trans transportation tickets through the Methuen
Council on Aging’s grant funded by HUD. Methuen
senior residents who use the EZ Trans program are
encouraged to apply for reduced fare (1/2 price) ticket
books available only through the Methuen Council on
Aging. Methuen seniors must be income eligible and
provide proof of household income to participate. For

“Box Tops for Education” labels are collected year
round. The labels are delivered to local schools to be
traded in for new classroom supplies! All you have to do
is cut out the “Point Value” symbol or the UPC label
from the back of Campbell’s products and the“Box Tops
For Education” symbols off General Mills products
and drop them off here at the center. It’s so
easy and a great way to help the
children in our community!

Moving On Group. Social/support group for widows,
widowers and divorced individuals meets Monday nights
6:30-9:30pm at St. Lucy’s Parish Hall Methuen for fun &
friendship, activities including bingo, dice, holiday parties
and annual clambake. For more information, call Betty

VOLUNTEER DRIVERS NEEDED!
All you need to become a N.E.E.T. driver is a depend-able
car, a good driving record, a caring heart and a little time
each month! N.E.E.T. drivers. The Northern Essex Elder
Transport program (NEET) drives seniors from their homes
to medical appointments. All seniors requesting N.E.E.T.
rides are independent and ambulatory. N.E.E.T. drivers are
provided with an orientation into the program, supplemental
insurance for their vehicles, and a reimbursement stipend of
43¢ per mile driven. The N.E.E.T. program meets a critical
community need with reliable, dependable transportation to
those with no other way to get to important medical
