A delicate work of art, which incorporates games of perspective and
contrasting points of view of the same image, this book allows the main
character, a tree that survives the destruction of a wood, to really shine
through. Using the same innocent tone as the illustrations, some short texts
tell the story of this strong little tree which, even after being chopped down, is
reborn with the simple actions of a child.

This book has received the Generalitat of Catalonia’s Prize for
the best illustrated children’s book (1999)
Rudyard Kipling (Bombay, 1865 – London, 1936) was born in India, where his father was a professor at the Bombay
School of Art. At the age of six he was sent with his sister to study in England, where his talent for prose poetry was
soon revealed. He returned to India in 1881, where he worked as a journalist and spent his free time writing poems,
stories and tales for children. Several of his stories were published in England in 1888, and when he returned in 1889
he was received as a famous author. He won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1907, becoming the first English author
to be honoured with this award. His most famous works are those set in India, and especially The Jungle Book.
Angel Dominguez (Biscay, 1953) completed his studies in 1973. He is self-taught and has established himself as an
independent illustrator. He currently lives in Laredo, Cantabria, and he devotes his time to illustrating books for both
adults and children. Editorial Juventud has published his work in Classic Animal Tales (1995) and Just Like That
(1999), which won the Generalitat of Catalonia’s prize for the best illustrated children’s book; Gods and Heroes of
Ancient Greece (2000) and its sequel, Heracles, Theseus and Oedipus (2002), Treasure Hunters: Tales of Pirates
(2004) and One Thousand and One Nights (2006). He has also illustrated The Sultan’s Turban (2008), a picture book
