The Christmas/Winter season has always held so many wonderful memories
for me growing up in New York. Whether it was anxiously waiting for my Dad
to come home with the “perfect,” snow-dusted Christmas tree, baking cookies
and wrapping presents to give to family and close friends, or dancing to Perry
Como and Bing Crosby as they crooned out the Christmas standards...the season was completely magical. So much joy surrounds the holidays. Yet, I also
remember after the magic passes and all the colored lights are taken down, a
strange sadness would reach in as I waited for spring to arrive. This melancholy would sometimes take its toll on relationships and make me long for the
end of winter and beginning of spring. This is what you will hear on our special
Humphrey-McKeown “Winter’s Hill” EP. A compilation of rich memories of
joy and the sadness; of Christmas, winter and dreams of spring. We hope our
music will pick you up, cause you to reflect on your own memories and encourage you to bring back what used to be…magic.

Banks of Black Creek
I remember our red house on Ramblin Way
How snow fell like whispers on winter days
I like to remember a memory that’s sweet
It’s a memory from 1973
This Winter Night
That December came early with lots to do
We wrapped presents, baked pies and went sledding too
But on Christmas eve my Daddy looked at my mom n said
“I’m gonna find you the perfect Christmas tree”
Twenty miles out of town
I should have turned the car around
But you know I'm a fool, when I said goodbye
So, I'll keep on driving this winter night
On the banks of Black Creek where the evergreens grow
The blue spruce and white pines each laden with snow
He uncovered n checked them carefully
He had to find mama’s perfect Christmas tree
There's crystals on the window in the falling snow
The lights from the dashboard give a softer glow
Will you be waiting for me tonight?
This winter night
My brothers and I helped to trim the prize
With excitement that shone in my daddy’s eyes
He presented the gift to her eagerly
“Honey, let me know what you think of this tree”
State-Line Road is five mile ahead
And I've been thinking about what I said
But I was too stubborn to say I was wrong
And the radio keeps playing this lonely love song
On and on
I remember my mama set down her tea
And checked the height checked the boughs meticulously
And with blue eyes tender and smile so sweet she said
“Darlin, it’s the perfect Christmas tree!”
Snow is falling harder as I turn around
You've waited too long for my loving arms
Tell me there's time to make dreams come alive once again
Once again, this winter night
I pulled up the drive, turned my key in the door
I found you asleep on the living room floor
With a kiss I'll awake you with tears in my eyes
"Forgive me my love" on this winter night
This beautiful night
Through crystals on the windows in the falling snow
A candle still burns with its softer glow
My home is you on this winter night
This winter night
This winter night
Better At Hello
I was standin by the lamp post as I watched you go
You were all wrapped up warmly as it started to snow
I yelled out a joke so you would smile for a while
cuz I’m certain you’d agree…we don’t need to say good bye
You needed to leave quickly and make the next train
Our presents were opened swiftly I was very glad you came
Time stands still in all those colored Christmas lights so bright
I think as friends we would agree…we don’t need to say good bye
So we don’t need to say good bye, cuz we’re better at hello
Our Christmas memories rest in the freshly fallen snow
It’s au revoir, au revior for all time
We never need to say goodbye oh no, cuz we’re better at hello
The years go by and I don’t see you very much anymore
Our Christmas cards get misplaced but we never keep score
As soon as the snow begins to fly across the skies
I remember we’d agreed…we don’t need to say good bye
Over Winter’s Hill
Over Winter’s Hill, our violets grow
In fields of purple, white and gold
Yet the frozen earth is quiet still
As we watch over Winter’s Hill
Over Winter’s Hill, we’ll run and find
Gentle breezes and April sun
But till then we’ll wait and we’ll watch
Snow drift over Winter’s Hill
Sometimes I’m free to give in
To thoughts of what tomorrow begins
but I’m more afraid of what won’t be
over Winter’s Hill
Over Winter’s Hill, bluebirds sing
Beauty rest and dreams take wing
So we’ll set our hope and we’ll wait
For the sun over Winter’s Hill
Won’t You Be Mine?
They have room for Sinatra, Buble’ and Dion
and warmth in the room with the fireplace on
They have room for snow and friends they know
But I only have room for one little wish
Won’t you be mine this Christmas?
They have room for stockings hung with care
And magic feelings in the air
They have room for nights with colored lights
But I only have room for one little wish
Won’t you be mine this Christmas?
On my window I drew a heart in the mist
There’s only you on my Christmas list
I look around and you’re all I see
There’s only space left for you and me
But I only have room for one little wish
yeah I only have room for one little wish
Yeah I only have room for one little wish
Won’t you be mine this Christmas?
Won’t you be mine
only…be mine?
Won’t you be mine?
... jingle all the way
