Autumn has arrived! The leaves are
changing into gorgeous shades of orange,
red, brown, yellow, and green, making
this the most festive and colorful season.
Get ready to eat those fall favorites of
caramel apples, pigs in a blanket, and apple pie. Costumes, candy, scary movies,
and late nights out is what Halloween is
all about. No matter who you are, you can
dress up as something else and go out on
the town for some scary fun! And who
doesn't love candy?!? "Fall is best of all" is
a famous saying for this wonderful sea-
son. Carving pumpkins and making
pumpkin pie is always a favorite of
many people. And who doesn't love
haunted houses? The thrill of being
scared and almost wetting your pants is
almost too much to resist. Fall is all
about drinking apple cider, jumping in
leaves, carving pumpkins and everyone
coming together with their friends and
family to have a fun and scary time. It
only comes once a year so get out there
and enjoy it while you have a chance!
LOCAL HAUNTED HOUSES
Are you interested in spooky adventures? Halloween is around the corner and frightening things are
everywhere. If you’re interested in haunted houses or scary activities, visit some local attractions!
The Haunt has two main attractions. The haunted house is
indoors, so the weather won’t
deter you from this trip. This is
a haunted house with many
actors and props. The Dark
Maze is outside. Find your way
through the maze that opens at
dusk where terror lurks around
every corner.

Salem, patients from a mental

the corn maze, corn stalkers
will watch and haunt you.
This corn maze is at night, but
they also have a daytime
maze that is more family
friendly.

What you’ll need:
Tootsie Pops
Tissues
Black Marker
Orange and Black
Ribbon or String
How to make:
First, you will need to
take your Tootsie Pop
and place a tissue
over the top. It should
be equal on all sides.
Once you have done
this, you need to take
a piece of each color
of the ribbon or
string and tie a bow
directly under the
Tootsie Pop. Then,
get your marker and
draw little ghost
eyes on your tissue. You should
now have an edible, cute, easy
craft and decoration for Halloween!

QUIZ BOWL TEAM ADVANCES IN QUIZBUSTERS!
Good luck to the
Kent City Quiz
Bowl teams on
Saturday, November 10 in
Holland.
When the
Coach, Mrs.
Davis, was
questioned,
she replied
with, “This is
a great year
for Quiz
Bowl. We’ve
been working
hard this
season and
it’s paying
off. Our
tournament
on Saturday
was a success
and we are
advancing on
the Quizbusters game
show. Good
job Eagles!”

The Kent City Quiz
Bowl team had its
first match of the
season last Tuesday,
October 10. They
traveled to Michigan
State University to
battle on the WKAR
game show Quizbusters. The Kent City
Varsity team of
Justin, Eric, Weston,
Tyler, Brooke, Alex,
and Tyler defeated
Hillsdale High School,
the semi-finalist
team from last year.
It was an intense
match that challenged our team until the end, but Kent
City came out as the
victor with a winning
score of 390-300.
KENT CITY QUIZ BOWL WINS AGAIN!
The Quiz Bowl teams were successful last Saturday, October
13 at the White Cloud Invitational. The senior team of
Brooke, Weston, Eric, Justin,
and Charlie received Second
Place. The real battle was between White Cloud’s and Kent
City’s coaches when a single
word determined the outcome
of the tournament. It was questioned whether the article “the”
was important in the title of
“House of the Seven Gables.”
The opposing coach won the
battle of wits and came out as
first place winner. The junior
team included Neisha, Tyler,
Alex, Tyler, Matt, and Parker.
They earned First Place in their
division with a record of 7:3. The
team played some great matches
and defeated Hackett (twice), Orchard View, Ionia, Holland, and
Morley-Stanwood High Schools.
Tyler, Sierra, Gabe, Hannah,
Alyssa, Brianna, and Nick were
on the sophomore team. They
played their best and ended with
a 3:7 record. Most of the team
comprised of freshmen that
played their first High School
Quiz Bowl matches on Saturday.
Good job Eagles!
