Letter To Readers
After 18 years in our prior location, we have moved to a new office. This office will be more efficiently designed
than our previous office as we will continue to provide terrific customer service.
The current auction is a truly terrific auction, with all sorts of high points throughout the catalog. There is in fact
so much quality material in this auction that this is the biggest catalog that we have ever produced.
The auction begins with baseball memorabilia. We open with four terrific bats, a 1935 Yankees team signed bat
with a bold Lou Gehrig autograph, a 1951 New York Giants team signed World Series game used bat,
a Mickey Mantle late 1960s game used bat and a Babe Ruth single signed bat.
Baseball memorabilia continues with some wonderful pins going back to 1915, many rare unsigned baseballs
and some game used equipment. Baseball pub collectors will see a fresh 1898 scorecard and a scorecard from
Mickey Mantle’s first baseball game.
Baseball cards are a major part of this auction, and for good reason. We are proud to offer many great complete
sets including N29 Allen & Ginter, E96 Philadelphia Caramel, the #2 PSA set of the 1936 R312 issue, an
ultra-rare 1962 Jello set and a world class 1966 Topps set. There are several very high grade quality partial sets
from the 1950s as well. Single cards include some great Old Judges, with both rarities and nice HOFers, a terrific
run of the beautiful and undervalued 1899-1900 M101-1 Sporting News premiums, a clean run of newly graded
T206 Southern Leaguers, three different L1 Leathers, the highest graded T3 Joe Tinker (SGC 7), an amazing
1916 Ferguson Bakery giant pennant premium, a 1935 Goudey uncut sheet, a few fine 1952 Topps cards,
including Jim Hegan in a PSA 8 and Jackie Robinson in an SGC 7 holder and a solid selection of very high
grade singles and Rookie Cards from the 1950s and the 1960s.
Baseball autographs are a huge part of this auction, and one of our best offerings ever. Notable items include a
signed T206 card, terrific 1980s - 2000s (almost) fully signed Topps sets, a fantastic full 1933 Who’s Who book
with 129 autographs, a gorgeous run of Burke photos signed in 1941 to Ken Keltner including a stunning
Ted Williams from his greatest season, strong autographs from Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig and much more.
Collectors of historical and entertainment autographs will see a terrific John Hancock signed document, in some
ways the ultimate autograph. We also have a fresh collection of signed entertainment 3x5s and a fantastic selection
of Norman Rockwell signed items that came from a life-long Rockwell collection that is fresh to market.
Basketball collectors will see sets from the 1960s and early 1970s, a pair of Shaq game shoes and a UDA LeBron
James Cavaliers jersey. Boxing collectors will see many fine Ali items, including a rare 1970 on-site poster and
several fine signed oversize pieces as well as a good early Floyd Mayweather wrapped signed game glove.
Football is another high point of the auction. We have a terrific near-set (31/36) of the key 1935 National Chicle
set with a nice PSA 3 Bronko Nagurski, a good run of sets from the 1950s and 1960s and some extremely high
grade 1966 Philadelphia cards in PSA 8 and 9 holders. We also have a full Super Bowl II ticket and many fine
football autographed lots.
Signed baseballs conclude this auction in a big way. We are proud to offer 22 different fine single signed balls,
including Campanella, Cochrane, Giles, Grove, Landis, Mack, McCarthy, Maris, Jackie Robinson and Babe Ruth.
Collectors of multi-signed and team balls will see some wonderful 1960s era HOF induction type balls, some with
Jackie Robinson, Jimmie Foxx and Satchel Paige. Two of my personal favorite signed balls in the auction are a
1924 Washington Senators reunion ball signed by Harry Truman and a 1923 Boston Red Sox team ball with the
incredibly rare signature of Frank Chance. In addition, we have 1927 and 1928 Yankee team signed balls, terrific
NL All Star team balls from 1950 and 1956, a fine 1956 Dodgers ball, six different balls with Roberto Clemente
and three different balls with Thurman Munson, including a rare 1969 Syracuse Chiefs team ball.
We want to thank our many loyal consignors and bidders for making this auction possible.

October 7 Auction: Bats
Great Game Used and Signed Bats
1 1935 Yankees Team Signed Bat with bold Lou Gehrig
7................................................................ 5000
Offered is something truly special. Consigned by a relative of a team member, this is a George Selkirk professional model bat. The bat is 35 inches long and weighs 2 pounds. This shows excellent wear and use. This is special as
it is signed by 17 members of the 1935 Yankees. The key to this is a rather bold Lou Gehrig signature, signed near
the end of the bat. Other better signatures include Lou’s fellow HOFers Earle Combs, Tony Lazzeri (D’1946),
Bill Dickey and Red Ruffing. Other signatures include Johnny Allen (D’59), Pat Malone (D’1943 at age 40), Red
Rolfe, Joe Glenn, Frank Crosetti, Walter Brown (D’66), John Broaca, Jack Saltzgaver, Jess Hill and Vic Tamulis.
The signature of Jess Hill precisely dates as a 1935. Please note the autographs do vary in darkness, but Gehrig,
Dickey and Lazzeri are among three of the nicest. Fresh to the hobby, it is extremely rare to find Yankee team
signed bats from this era, especially something with a nice Lou Gehrig autograph. Vintage team signed bats are
almost rare and are profoundly undervalued compared to signed baseballs for this reason. The winning bidder
should really love this truly grand signed bat. JSA LOA.

October 7 Auction: Bats
2 1951 New York Giants Team Signed .Game Used World Series Bat!
8.........................1500
An incredible piece on so many levels, the 1951 World Series was one of the most famous ever, pitting Rookie
Mickey Mantle against Rookie Willie Mays. Bobby Thomson’s Shot Heard Round The World allowed the Giants
to break the hearts of Dodgers fans everyway just to get to the World Series. This was Joe DiMaggio’s last World
Series (and games in baseball) and Rookie Mantle got injured during this series, potentially altering his career
forever. For these reasons, real items from the 1951 World Series are extremely desirable. The offered lot is a
wonderful Hank Thompson game used custom World Series model bat. The bat is an H&B D29 model that is 34
inches long and weighs 33.3 ounces. The bat shows solid use and comes with an LOA from PSA DNA. As if that
was not enough, this bat is SIGNED BY the entire New York Giants team, 24 signatures in total, with note to a
rare bold Rookie Willie Mays signed during his first of only three World Series appearances and a rare real
Leo Durocher from this era. This is the kind of item that can immediately enhance the stature of so many collections. JSA LOA.
3 Mantle, Mickey Game Used 1960s Bat
Ex-Mt...... 1500
Fresh to the hobby, this is a fine looking Mickey Mantle M100 professional model bat. Checking it at 35 inches,
this weighs 32.6 ounces and was from the 1965-1968 era. According to the PSA LOA, this bat exhibits evidence of
outstanding use with two chips on the knob. Many ball marks are visible on the right, left and back barrel. There
is a notation on the top barrel that looks like a number one, possibly meaning this was given by Mickey to his protege Bobby Murcer. With that said, PSA also opines that this bat seen additional use since its acquisition and they
cannot determine if the use on the bat was by Mantle. PSA definitively concluded that this was not a
Pro Stock model bat. While the use by Mantle cannot be confirmed, we feel strongly that it is just logical that it
was used by Mantle due to the unique nature of the bat. Completely fresh to the hobby, this came out of a flea
market in Oklahoma. (Potentially) Affordable true Mickey Mantle professional model bat, this will nicely fill one
of the most significant spots in any game used bat or advanced Mickey Mantle collection.

October 7 Auction: Bats
5 1946 Montreal Royals Signed Game Bat 5....... 150
Rare, this is a Herman Franks professional model
bat. This shows solid use and was almost certainly
used as a coach for this key Brooklyn Dodger minor
league team. The bat has approximately 18 signatures, all light, mostly legible, with Al Campanis,
Dixie Howell, Clay Hopper, Red Barrett and Charlie
Ferrell. There is a signature resembling Jackie Robinson but it is not authentic and/or not Jackie.
JSA LOA.
6 1958 Yankees Black Bat
NM............ 150
Popular piece, the Yankees came back to avenge the
Milwaukee Braves and win the World Series. This
is a vibrant black bat with only slight wear in stray
places. The gold facsimile signatures all contrast very
nicely against the bat. Fun collectible bat.
4 Ruth, Babe Single Signed Bat 5............... 3500
The ultimate signed bat, a true Babe Ruth single
signed bat! The condition is not world class here, so
this will not run six figures. The bat itself is a 33 inch
long Babe Ruth store model with a pleasing antique
patina and feel. This is signed by Ruth on the barrell, with wear over the signature from display at
one time. The autograph is a full Babe Ruth and is
100% legible. This bat has an interesting history as it
was signed in 1935 by Ruth as a player, and this was
given to a young man named Fred Archibald (who
penned his initials very lightly above Babe Ruth’s
autograph). The bat was purchased by former Orioles star pitcher Mike Flanagan and was displayed
in the Babe Ruth Museum in Baltimore, Maryland
for many years. These are beyond rare and for this
reason, the condition issue should be overlooked.
Fully presentable and attractive signed bat from the
ultimate baseball player. JSA LOA.
8
7 Baerga, Carlos Game Used/Signed
1995 All Star Game Bat
Ex-Mt.......... 75
Professional model bat used by Carlos Baerga in the
1995 All Star Game and directly from his personal
collection. This bat is team signed, with approximately 25 signatures in gold sharpie. The condition is the
signatures varies and is not terrific, but recognizable
names include Puckett, Belle, Ripken, Wells, Edgar
Martinez, Frank Thomas and David Wells. The bat
measures 33 1/2 inches long and weighs 29 ounces.
Bat shows use. JSA LOA.
8 Carlton, Steve Signed Game Bat 7............ 125
Good bat, this is a Louisville Slugger P89 Steve Carlton model. The bat measures 34 inches long and
weighs 30 ounces. 32 is written on the knob, the bat
shows pine tar. Signed by Carlton in blue sharpie.
The bat has many ball marks and shows very solid
use. JSA LOA.
October 7 Auction: Bats
9 HOF Bat w/Williams & Koufax 9.5........... 350
Very good HOF bat (with note to Pete Rose), this
spotless Bill Terry model bat has 19 exceptionally fine
and consistent blue sharpie signatures. Much better
than most of these types of bats as this includes keys
Ted Williams, Sandy Koufax, Don Drysdale, Jim
Hunter, Willie Stargell, Eddie Mathews, Lou Brock,
Billy Herman, Al Kaline and Whitey Ford. There is
lots of room for additional signatures if desired.
JSA LOA.
10 Mantle, Mickey Signed Bat 9............... 850
Classic signed bat, these will always be scarce as
Mickey signed such a miniscule fraction of these
compared to baseballs. In fact, with Mickey singles
trading in the $500 range, bats actually seem really
undervalued at current market levels. The offered lot
is a clean K55 Mickey Mantle store model bat, signed
in very pleasing and attractive blue sharpie on the
barrel. The signature contrasts quite well against the
clean back. Missing from so many collections, this is
a great chance to add a solid and possibly very undervalued quality Mantle signed item to your collection. JSA LOA.
11 Nettles, Graig 1978 World Series
Game Used/Signed Bat
9................. 400
Terrific bat, this is a Hillerich and Bradsby S44 model from 1977-1979 based on the label. The bat is
35 inches long and weighs 32.1 ounces. The bat is
uncracked and shows excellent use. Cleat marks are
evident, and there is a light coat of pine tar on the
upper handle. This is signed as follows: “Graig Nettles Game Used 78 Series” on the barrel in bold blue
sharpie. The bat has been graded 8.5 by PSA/DNA
and comes with an LOA from JSA for the autograph.
The 1978 World Series was a classic between the Yankees and the Dodgers, a game used item from such a
critical player as Graig Nettles is a real treasure.
JSA LOA.
12 Sandberg, Ryne Signed Game Bat 8........... 150
Quality bat from a very popular player, we hardly
ever see these. Offered is a 34 inch 30 ounce Louisville Slugger K55 pro model bat. This shows simply
outstanding use and also has a bold black sharpie autograph from this key Cubs HOFer. K55 23 is written
on the knob in black sharpie. JSA LOA.
13 Yount, Robin Signed Game Bat 8.......... 150
Good Robin Yount bat, this is a 34 inch 30 ounce P72
model. A cupped bat, this has pine tar on the handle
and shows solid use. Signed by Yount in bold black
sharpie, good piece. JSA LOA.

October 7 Auction: Baseball Memorabilia
Mini-Decal Bats
Vintage Baseball Pins
17 Dispatch and Pioneer Press Collection
of 14 different
NM............ 360
This is a fine group of fourteen (14) vintage baseball
position pins (circa 1910). Each pin measures 1.25
diameter depicting a player identified by position.
Several varieties of these pins were issued at the time
with these among the most desirable as being colorful
and displaying the business or product name sponsoring each pin, consisting of the Dispatch & Pioneer
Press, Toasted Cream of Rye Flakes, and one from
the Townsend Gun Co. All but one pin also includes a
slogan, “I Am At The Bat Fir The, or Good Ball Players Eat”. The breakdown of this group by position
consists of: 1-Centerfield, 2-Right Field, 1-Left Field,
1-Catcher, 1-First Base, 1-Second Base, 2-Short stop,
1-Third Base, 1-Pitcher and 3-Captain. It might take
a collector years to assemble such a collection.
14 Ty Cobb Mini Decal Bat
Ex-Mt........ 750
Exceptional example of this utterly charming collectible, offered is a beautiful 14 inch Louisville Slugger
miniature decal bat. This has an incredible 95% or
more of the decal, as much as you will ever see. This
has a mounting hole on the manufacturing seal at the
center of the bat, otherwise simply gorgeous and is
among the best examples of any mini decal bat that
we have ever seen.
15 Nap Lajoie Mini Decal Bat
Good......... 250
Very tough piece, this is in low grade but these hardly
ever come to market. The decal is about 50% present
with some general wear. Still presentable, this will fill
a tough hole in many collections.
16 Honus Wagner Mini Decal Bat VG............. 300
Lower grade bat has a mounting hole by the seal and
wear on the decal. The decal itself is about 60%
complete and does retain vibrant original imagery.
Despite the condition issues, this is still a very desirable vintage Honus Wagner collectible from his
playing career.
10
18 1915 Boston Red Sox Rare Stick Pin Ex......... 600
Rare 1915 Boston Red Sox stick pin worn during the
season by fans who witnessed the Red Sox and Babe
Ruth as a young rookie advance to win that year’s
World Series against the Philadelphia Phillies. The
attractive pin features a celluloid red and white pennant with Red Sox 1915 printed on front and 1915
Jas. J. Doherty, 30 Dock Square, printed on verso,
attached to a brass stick pin. Pin measures approximately 2.375 and the flag about 1.5. Ruth played
in one game appearing in his first World Series, as
a pinch-hitter. This is among the scarcest surviving
artifacts from this historic World Championship
Boston Red Sox teams.
October 7 Auction: Baseball Memorabilia
19 1941 Yankees World Series Pin NM............ 120
Rare pin, this was sold during the 1941 World Series
and is much, much scarcer than the press pin that
comes around regularly. Condition is a sterling
Near Mint, this is a fresh and great looking 1 3/4 inch
pinback that we have not handled until now.
27 1963 NY Yankees World Series Press Pin
NM.............. 45
Very collectible pin, this is in exemplary Nm-Mt condition. Balfour is stamped on the reverse, the front
could not be any nicer.
20 1942 NY Yankees World Series Press Pin
Ex-Mt........ 105
Elusive pin, this is from the 1942 World Series between the Yankees and the Cardinals (which the Yankees lost). The sterling silver pin is clean, with fading
just at one spot at the very bottom. The reverse is
clean.
21 1952 NY Yankees World Series Press Pin
Nm-Mt...... 105
Fine looking pin with the classic Yankee top hat design, a classic. The edges are sharp and crisp, with no
noticeable wear or other condition issues. The back is
unmarked.
22 1953 NY Yankees World Series Press Pin
Nm-Mt........ 90
Desirable pin, the Yankees did a V for Victory design
to celebrate their fifth straight World Series Championship. Sharp and bright, the has one spot on the left
border, otherwise Nm-Mt all the way. The back is not
marked.
23 1956 NY Yankees World Series Press Pin
Nm-Mt...... 120
Superb example of a classic pin, this is the key 1956
Yankees World Series pin. The front looks great, with
fresh original color, sharp edges and no visible flaws,
even under magnification. The back has no engraving and toning in the center from the holder.
24 1957 NY Yankees World Series Press Pin
Nm-Mt...... 105
Exemplary quality, this has a different design than
most of its contemporary pins. Sharp and clean,
there is virtually no wear of any kind and this looks
terrific. The reverse is unmarked and has a tie-clasp
mount.
25 1958 NY Yankees World Series Press Pin
Nm-Mt........ 75
Pristine pin, this could not be sharper, brighter or
cleaner. Balfour is engraved on the reverse, this is
another very widely collected Yankees press pin - this
one has a tie-clasp reverse.
26 1962 NY Yankees World Series Press Pin
Nm-Mt........ 60
Sharp and pristine, it does not get any nicer than
this. This has the Balfour engraving on the reverse
and is in quite simply flawless condition.
Rare Unsigned Baseballs
28 ONL Heydler Ball in Original Box! NM........ 300
Great item, this is a strikingly bright, clean and attractive true Official National League John Heydler
model baseball. Produced from 1918-1934, this one is
in sparkling condition. As if that was not enough, this
even comes with an original box! The box is complete
but has one split, creasing and wear typical for age
and from handling, and grades no better than VG;
with that said, it still displays quite well and has the
original inset paper. This is quite simply a must-have
for any serious vintage unsigned baseball collector.
11
October 7 Auction: Baseball Memorabilia
Rare Unsigned Baseballs
29 Japanese University League Cork Ball Ex..... 150
Possibly used in the two 1930s Tours of Japan by
MLB, this is a toned ball which likely saw some game
use. This is a Mizuno Official University League
model, with a Japanese seal on the bottom panel.
A multi-stitched cork ball, this is clearly from the
1930s, when the two Tours of Japan took place. This
is possibly a rare baseball, but we are not certain.
30 ONL Frick 1876 Ball (rare)
Ex.............. 120
Rare ball, this a pleasing Ex example of the very desirable ONL Frick ball with 1876 noted on the top
panel. We know this is from the 1930s, we do not
know the story behind these balls other than that
they are quite scarce. With that said, the National
League was started in 1876, so this was likely issued
in 1936 to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the
Senior Circuit. Very interesting piece.
31 Babe Ruth Sinclair Ball in Original Box Ex... 180
Classic collectible, these are of course not handsigned by Babe Ruth. The ball is an evenly toned
ONL Frick custom model for the Sinclair Oil Babe
Ruth Home Run contest. This also comes with the
original box, which is desirable and scarce.
32 PCL Ball in Original Box
NM............ 120
Fine looking Wilson PCL model ball with League
President Clarence H. Rowland, dating this from
1944-1954. The condition is a superb Near Mint, presented in a full and very clean box, which even has
the original paper wrap-a-round from time of issue.
12
33 Joe DiMaggio Model Baseball (scarce) Ex..... 90
Very desirable model baseball, this is only the second
one that we have seen. Created by Hollander, this is
a very attractive Joe DiMaggio Major League model
baseball, presumably from about 1950 but we are not
certain. The ball is off-white and fairly clean, with
note to a seemingly ancient price written decades ago
on a side panel. Neat ball.
34 ONL Frick Ball in Original Sealed Box!
NM............ 150
Great piece, this is an original ONL Frick model
baseball. Presented in a SEALED ORIGINAL BOX,
this is something that does not come around every
day. The box itself is complete, about Ex overall,
with mainly general wear, no rips or tears. This is
also very special as it is sealed with the ORIGINAL
PAPER WRAP-A-ROUND, something that hardly
ever comes around. We presume this is going to be a
Near Mint to Mint or even better ball but it is truly
unopened to our eyes and it will be up to the next
owner to make the decision whether to pop open this
little treasure!
35 Charles Finley Orange Baseball in box
NM........... 120
A cult favorite, innovative (some say highly eccentric)
owner Charles Finley of the Kansas City A’s and later
Royals felt these would help improve Major League
Baseball. The offered lot is a striking Near Mint, presented in the original box. Exceptionaly quality, these
have really dried up in recent years to our eyes.
October 7 Auction: Baseball Memorabilia
Baseball Equipment - Game Used & Related
36 Charlie Hayes 1996 World Series
Signed Hat
9.5.............. 150
Fine looking New Era professional model New York
Yankee hat. This is special as it is stitched 1996 Division Champions on the front brim. Signed by Hayes
as follows, “Charlie Hayes Post season World Series
Hat 1996.” The hat shows some definite use and looks
great. The first Yankee World Championship team of
this era and the beginning of a dynasty, items from
the 1996 World Series will always be especially desirable to memorabilia collectors. JSA LOA.
37 Charlie Hayes 1996 Yankees
World Series Jacket!
Ex-Mt........ 200
The 1996 Yankees will go down as one of the most
important and popular teams in Yankee history.
Underdogs at the time to the vaunted Atlanta Braves,
they overcame a 2-0 deficit in the World Series to win
four games to two, and beginning a historic dynasty

fun to display or wear.

43 1894 Kenesaw Mountain Landis
Wedding Invitation!Ex.............. 400
Very unique item, this is the actual invitation (4 1/4 x
6 1/4) and RSVP card for the wedding of one of the
most singularly important figures in all of baseball
history, Kenesaw Mountain Landis. The wedding
took place a the First Presbyterian Church in Ottama, Illinois in 1894. Landis was an up and coming
power in Washington at the time, a favorite of President Cleveland (he was offered the post of Ambassador to Venezuela), he instead opened a law office in
Chicago to be near his beloved bride Winifred Reed.
1894 is written on the invitation but according to at
least one web article it took place in 1895. This has
some splits from folding (easily repaired if desired)
and some general wear, certainly clean overall.
Landis changed the game of baseball forever as the
first commissioner, the man who banned the various
1919 White Sox members involved in gambling and
so much more. One can only imagine how Landis
would have handled the modern steroid era! Truly
rare and interesting item from a singular figure in
baseball history.

44 Boyle, Eddie 1899 Pirates Contract VG........ 200
Very early full contract for an Ed Boyle to play for
the 1899 Pirates is one of the very earliest known
National League contracts. This is a large format
contract that has not been signed or executed by the
player but is signed by team president W.W. Kerr..
This has folds and some separations but still presents
fairly well. Signed by the team President, this is a
great thing to add to any advanced contract, document or Pittsburgh Pirates collection. Please note this
originally solid at public auction for over $1,000
in 2009.
45 1914 Pennant New York Yankees (rare) NM.. 240
Likely a rare pennant, we have not seen this style
until now. This lovely green colored pennant measures six inches long and is similar to the BF2 series
in design. We could not find any examples of this
issue but that does mean that they do not exist. The
condition is bright and clean, with crisp edges and
hardly any wear. Based on the teams found, this is
from either 1913 or 1914 as it included the Cleveland
Naps and the Yankees (as opposed to the Highlanders).
46 Babe Ruth Feen-A-Mint Mask VG-Ex....... 180
Very fun and creative collectible, this is a unique and
classic 1930s Babe Ruth item. The offered lot has the

tremendous - a real conversation stopper!
47 Babe Ruth 1935 Boston Braves
Real Team Photo
Ex-Mt*...... 200
Beautiful team portrait of the 1935 Boston Braves
taken at spring training. The Babe really stands out,
literally and figuratively, from the other members of
this team. This is an important era in Babe’s career
as it was his final year as a player after his relations
with the Yankees soured significantly when they did
not offer him a managing position. The names of all
of the players are noted in vintage ink on the photo
and it has a small tear by the left border; this tear
is not especially distracting as this has been smartly
mounted onto cardboard. Total size 8 x 10.
48 1954Ticket
World Series Game 1 (Mays catch) PSA 2........ 225
Attractive full stub from one of the most famous

with legions of fans throughout the country. A great
item as this is from before the Rookie Year of

this HOFer.

50 1954 Roberto Clemente’s
Original Scouting Report!
Ex-Mt/NM....... 900
Remarkable item, offered is an original scouting
report from 1954 for none other than Roberto Clemente. One of the most popular and beloved players
in all of baseball history, quality Clemente items are
always extremely desirable. The offered lot is likely
unique and therefore worthy of special attention.
This card has analysis from various scouts, including
Clyde Sukeforth. Very interesting content, as Sukeforthy wisely recommends Clemente to be the first
draft choice and another scout (McCarnick) didn’t
like in practice. Sukeforth identifies Clemente as a
great prospect. Based on Sukeforth’s wise judgment,
the Pirates selected Clemente first and the rest is
history. Please note the condition is clean, this is a
terrific item of a seminal HOFer.

well, many others are nicer (all will be pictured front

some honest wear from age. This
may well be the first time we have
handled one of these.

70 1898 Scorecard
New York Giants/Chicago White Sox GVG...... 240
Possibly rare, we have not seen or handled one of
these until now. Folded, this is in otherwise fairly
clean (with note to a mild stain at the upper right
corner). Four-page program is typical for the era,
this is scored very neatly in pencil and the cover
offers an illustration of a player batting. This has a
very clean and attractive design and has the schedule
for the 1898 Chicago White Sox team on the back
cover, so this is clearly a home program for them.
Recognizable players in the scorecard include George
Van Haltren, Bill Dahlen, Tom McCreery, Jimmy
Ryan and Bill Joyce.
71 1904 ScorecardRed Sox/White Sox Good...... 180
Desirable early 20th century program, this 10-page
program has been folded heavily in the center and
has some general wear. The interior pages are fairly
clean, including the scorecard, and the two ads for
fantastic Carl Horner prints. We believe HOFer Jimmy Collins is pictured on the front cover but we are
not sure. This is scored neatly in pencil.
72 1928 WSP
At Yankees
VG+.......... 350
Classic program, one of the more attractive designs
of the decade. This was the second straight Ruth/
Gehrig team to win the World Series in the 1920s,
and this was the peak of their fame. The offered
program has a very attractive color cover, a tight
spine and a very clean look and feel. There are two
very fine creases that can be felt more than seen
on the cover and this was very lightly folded at one
time. The interior pages are clean overall, and this is
completely unscored. This is the kind of program that
presents as much higher than our admittedly very
strict technical grade; a terrific program overall.

73 1929 WSP
At Chicago
Ex+............ 300
Tight book has a bright cover and no clear center
fold crease or damage. This has terrific imagery and
is unscored with clean interior pages. The back image
looks great, the corners are sharp and this simply displays exceptionally well. Very slight wear at the binding holes on the left edge are the only noticeable wear.
Good 1920s World Series program in fine condition.
74 1930 WSP
At Philadelphia VG-Ex....... 180
Very attractive program has one of the most interesting covers of all World Series programs from this
era. You have to love the vivid imagery of a baseball shooting through the night sky, with an image
of Connie Mack to the left and a vibrant dark blue
background. This offers a tight spine, pleasing cover
and is neatly scored in pencil. Some pages in the
center are loose but otherwise without issue, and
some pages have slight staining by the upper right
corner. The edges are not bad at all, the back cover is
clean. Ideal mid-grade example of the most attractive
covers of its era.
76 1962 Yearbook New York Mets NM............ 210
Remarkably clean example of the ultimate team
yearbook has just one stray mark on the cover,
otherwise essentially flawless. The cover design is
absolutely priceless and is simply iconic in the world
of sports memorabilia. Superb condition, this came
right from an employee of the Mets at the time who
actually worked with producing the yearbooks. Untouched, this has a brilliant white cover, a tight spine
and immaculate interior pages. One would be very
hard pressed to find a nicer copy of this program.
Please note this is the June 25 roster, with a color
back cover.

75 1951 Mickey Mantle First Game Scorecard!
Ex+.......... 1200
Vital program, this is the original 1951 New York
Yankees home scorecard from Mickey Mantle’s first
game! Fairly clean and tight, this has a minute chip
at one corner on the back cover. Partially scored
through 5 innings for the Yankees and one inning for
the Red Sox. Mickey is number 6 of course, and is
batting third in the lineup, just ahead of Joe DiMaggio. The spine is tight, the cover retains bright original color and looks terrific save for a scrape at the
right edge from tape removal. The interior pages are
clean overall. Extremely significant program, this
may be the first time we have ever handled one of
these treasures. Key piece from one of the most popular and celebrated players in all of baseball history,
these seem very undervalued to us at current market
levels.
77 1888 N29 Allen & Ginter
Complete Baseball Set (6 pcs)
................. 2500
A tougher set than many realize, these are much
scarcer than the N28s and frankly seem very undervalued to us in today’s market. All six cards are
slabbed, and they are as follows: Buck Ewing SGC
4, James Fogarty SGC 3, Getzin SGC 6, Miller SGC
5, Morrell SGC 2 and Ryan GAI 4.5. The key card of
Buck Ewing has a perfectly clean back and a very attractive front, with corner wear and one fine surface
wrinkle only. These cards have very clean backs overall and display quite well for the grade. A tremendous
value in a small package, this set should be in any
advanced early baseball card set collection.
78 1898 Cameo Pepsin Pins

An especially clean and fine piece with super clean
surfaces.
80 J. Callahan (Oct. 6)

81 Jack Chesboro RC
VG............. 420
Elusive HOF pitcher, he has hardly any cards and
this is one of the very first that were produced.
Lightly folded at one time, this card offers a gorgeous
image, crisp edges, sharp corners,a flawless back and
tremendous eye appeal. So undervalued, how often
do these come up relative to his T206 card?
We feel this is his Rookie Card.
82 Fred C. Clark (Clarke) (Oct 7) RC
VG-Ex/Ex........... 450
His true Rookie Card, this should be of great interest
to collectors of these cards. Similar to the rest of the
lot, a technical VG-Ex/Ex due to some fine wrinkles
but with truly superb eye appeal. The corners come
to points, the edges are sharp, the image is flawless,
the card simply looks great. Neat as this pictures
HOFer Fred Clarke as a Louisville player.
83 J. Emmet Heidrick (June 30) VG-Ex/Ex..... 150

clean surfaces. A very fine surface crease keeps this
just below Ex.

and fine surface crease and hardly any other wear.
The edges are clean, as are the surfaces.
85 Wee Willie Keeler
VG-Ex/Ex......... 600
Terrific piece of a legendary player who has hardly
any cards, this is so undervalued. This is an oversize

Bright and quite clean, the edges are sharp, the
surfaces exceptionally clean. Some very fine surface
creases that do in any way crack the paper keep this
lovely piece just below Ex.

86 Nap Lajoie
VG+.................. 550
His Rookie Card to some, this is one of the very earliest images of this beloved HOFer that most of us are
likely to ever see. The image of a very young Nap
Lajoie is flawless, the surfaces are quite clean overall
and the back looks terrific. This has sharp corners
and crisp edges; some fine creasing and wear at one
spot from the creasing keeps this at a very precise
VG Plus. Given their rarity and beauty, these are
profoundly undervalued compared to tobacco and
caramel cards.
87 John J. McGraw (Aug 5) VG-Ex............... 900
Another gem from this run, this offers a simply stunning image of this vital figure in baseball history.
Ornately dressed, McGraw is just so young here!
Pictured as an 1899 Baltimore Oriole player-manager, THIS WAS THE FIRST YEAR MCGRAW
MANAGED. Significant as McGraw was one of the
best and most influential managers in baseball history. As far as condition, this has a fine surface crease
that does not crack the paper but otherwise simply
looks terrific. The edges are crisp, the corners sharp,
the image absolutely superb and the back is pristine.
Undervalued and important John McGraw card, this
is simply a great item to add to a high quality early
baseball card collection.
88 Deacon Charles Phillippe RC (June 16)

Bright card has only some extremely fine and minute
surface wrinkles. Visual appeal here is terrific.

GVG........ 1800
(pictured to lower left)
The backs are clean overall, less than 10% have
stamps or scraping on the reverse; 35 cards have
Polar Bear backs, there is one American Beauty.
This is a strikingly consistent group considering the
size, there should be some 3s in here, surely some 1s
as well if one decides to slab these. The cards have
uniformly bright colors and hardly anything is in immediate need of an upgrade. There are four HOFers,
three Southern Leaguers and some better cards
included in the lot (all are pictured). A full listing of
all cards will be on our web site. Better cards are as
follows: Abbaticchio (blue sleeves), Cravath, Donlin
(fielding), Greminger, Guiheen, Jennings (one hand
showing), Jennings (portrait), Magee, McGinnity,
Mullin (throwing), Pattee, Powers, Thebo and Wallace.
911909-1911 T206
Collection of 76 different commons Good......... 900
Pleasing lot for the grade, these are not abused or
destroyed, more than a few of these should grade 3s
if desired. There are no rare backs, but the backs are
generally clean. A bright and honest ungraded lot of
tobacco cards, a full listing will be on our website.
931910 T6 Murad Premiums
Complete Set
................... 750
Lovely set of 5 x 8 oversize cardboard premiums,
these picture various colleges across the United States
playing various sports. These are extremely graphic and attractive images. Nine cards are slabbed: 1
Amherst SGC 1.5, 3 Columbia PSA 5, 4 Cornell SGC
3, 6 Dartmouth PSA 6, 7 Fordham SGC 3, 8 Harvard
SGC 1 (small pinhole), 11 Princeton SGC 1.5, 17
Illinois PSA 5 and 23 Washington & Jefferson PSA 2.
The remaining cards are a pleasing VG-Ex overall to
our eye, with no back damage and extremely attractive fronts. Sports pictured on these cards include
baseball, basketball and football. An undervalued
issue, full sets hardly ever come to market.

October 7 Auction: Baseball Cards
951912 L1 Leather Bresnahan, Roger
VG-Ex..... 1200
One of the greatest of all early 20th century tobacco
baseball issues, these would net a king’s ransom if
slabbed. The offered piece is full size, with none of the
usual pinholes or chipped edges. The image is quite
nice, contrasting very well against the actual leather
background on which this wonderful piece was created. This has some fold lines, three in total, that are
the only real distraction here. The back is quite clean.
A HOFer from a truly great issue, this would be a
terrific addition to even the most advanced pre-war
card collections.
941911 E96 Complete Set VG to VG-Ex..... 2000
Extremely scarce set, we hardly ever see these in
complete form, this might be only the second one that
we have ever handled. Very attractive issue, the lack
of a Cobb and Wagner card allows this set to remain with the budget range of a much wider base of
collector. Virtually every card is graded, they are as
follows: Adams SGC 4, Ames SGC 3, Arrelanes SGC
4, Baker SGC 3, Brown PSA 2, Clarke SGC 3, Davis
PSA 2, Delehanty PSA 1, Donovan PSA 2, Dooin SGC
1.5, Gibson PSA 3, Herzog SGC 2, Jennings PSA 3,
Karger PSA 2.5, Kling PSA 1 mk, Konetchy PSA
1, Lajoie SGC 3, Mack PSA 3, Marquard SGC 3,
McQuillan PSA 1 mk, Meyers PSA 1, Mowrey SGC
3, Mullin PSA 3, Murray SGC 3, Pfeister Trimmed,
Rossman PSA 4, Rucker GAI 1.5, Spencer PSA 4,
Thomas SGC 4 and Tinker SGC 3. This is an overlooked and beautiful set, with many difficult cards,
including the Connie Mack that hardly ever trades.
Of the 30 cards in the set, eight are HOFers. These
cards are also nice as most of these are unique images
not used in the other caramel sets from this era. Ideal
low to mid-grade set, this is not something that comes
around very often and also happens to offer a terrific
value in this market.

961912 L1 Leather Jennings, Hughie
VG-Ex....... 960
One of the greatest of all early 20th century tobacco
baseball issues, these would net a king’s ransom if
slabbed. The offered piece is full size, with none of the
usual pinholes or chipped edges. The image is reasonably nice, albeit not perfect, contrasting reasonably well against the leather. The edges are crisp and
clean, the surfaces show some hints of rubbing but
are also clean. The reverse is bright and clean. A fun
item just to touch as it is just so unique, it is too bad
slabbing removes the tactile experience from collecting.
971912 L1 Leather Walsh, Ed VG-Ex....... 960
One of the greatest of all early 20th century tobacco
baseball issues, these would net a king’s ransom if
slabbed. The offered piece is full size, with none of the
usual pinholes or chipped edges. This has some subtle
creasing, likely from handling, and exhibits basically
general wear, on both the front and the back. With
that said, the edges are fairly crisp and clean, the
image is very nice, with solid contrast, and this has
terrific eye appeal. Ideal card for the grade, how often do these treasures ever come around? Given their
rarity and beauty, these are among the great bargains
in early 20th century baseball card collecting.

981912 S81 Large Silk
Christy Mathewson
VG-Ex....... 360
Desirable piece as this comes with the original paper
backing. We had several of these several years back
and this is the last clean example. The lovely offered
large format silk has a bright sheen and a terrific
image. Some foxing by the lower left corner is the
only real issue here. These are such attractive and undervalued cards.
991916 Ferguson Bakery Photo Prize Pennants
Frank Schulte (rare, uncataloged) Ex......... 1250
One of the rarest of all pennants from this era, these
are a wonderful companion piece to the widely
collected BF2 small size pennants issued in 1916 by
the Ferguson Bakery in Massachusetts. This is a 9
x 24 pennant with a b/w image of Frank Schulte at
the top. This shows general wear and is Ex overall in
our view; there are no visible tackholes or pinpricks,
just general wear and some subtle toning from age.
A true rarity, this could only be obtained by leaving
50 tickets from 5-cent loaves of bread. There are only
eight players listed in the Standard Catalog, this IS
NEW TO THE HOBBY. Commons list for $9,000 in
NM and $4,500 in Ex, the last example to sell at public auction brought over $5,000. A very, very special
piece that may never come around again at public
sale.

101 1923 W515-1 3 different full strips
w/Ruth, Cobb & much more
Ex-Mt...... 1200
Fine lot, full 10-card strips of these colorful cards
have utterly disappeared from the hobby due to
slabbing. They are extremely attractive pieces, finally
getting the attention they lacked for so many years.
The offered lot contains three 10-card strips, 30 total
cards, representing half of this very popular 1920s
strip card set. The strips have the usual wear on the
end cards, but have pristine reverses, immaculate
fronts and simply look terrific. These are especially desirable as this holds the possibility of a Mint 9
Babe Ruth card from 1923. In addition to The Babe,
there are 13 additional HOFers! These include some
key names, like Hornsby, Stengel, Speaker, Wilbert
Robinson, Eddie Collins, Zack Wheat and Ross
Youngs among others. Great collectible, do not count
on seeing these very often in the future given the
market on high grade 1920s strip cards.

102 1923 W515-1
Complete 10-Card Strip w/Ruth & Cobb Ex...... 700
Gorgeous full strip, slabbing has made these very
rare. This has four HOFers of the ten depicted. The
two end cards have typical wear, the others really
do appear to be flawless, we can feel no wrinkles or
creases or other flaws on either the front or the back.
This means that the Babe Ruth card is essentially
flawless (at least to our eye), making this a very desirable item that will hopefully survive intact and not be
sold as a Mint 9 or such.
103 1930 Leader Novelty
Max Bishop w/original box!
Ex.............. 350
Very unique lot, this is a clean mid-grade card from
the extremely scarce 1930 Leader Novelty set. The
card has no creases and a clean back. Even better, the
card comes with the rare original box! The box itself
has a fresh look and feel and presents as a nice Ex
as well.
104 German Olympic Book Collection
w/Babe Ruth Cards (7 pcs)
Ex-Mt........ 400
A 7 piece ensemble of German publications pertaining to the 1936 Berlin Olympics including the hardbound 2 volume book set Olympia 1936 with pictures
tipped in (mostly B & W) throughout including one
of famed gold medalist Jesse Owens. There are two
issues of the popular Handbuch des Sports each featuring a color picture of Babe Ruth among the many
other pictures tipped in. Another hardbound book
Die Olympischen Spiele includes scenic B & W stereo
pictures tipped in (missing viewer). The last book
is soft bound Olympia 1936 complete with B & W
tipped in pictures. The final item in the lot is a boxed
group of cards labeled Sport Quartett No 294 Ferd.
Piatnik, & Sohne Wien XIV featuring xxxxxxx individual cards depicting the various Olympic sports.
The condition is clean overall.

105 1935 Goudey Uncut Sheet w/Babe Ruth on
front and Frank Frisch Puzzle Fair......... 1200
Super cool piece, something that just never comes
around. The 1935 Goudey set is unique in many
ways, one of which is that various series combine
to make a player puzzle. Fanatical collectors of this
set attempt to get every front combination to match
these puzzles, so this should be of enormous interest to such collectors (along with many others). The
offered piece is in admittedly low grade condition but
it retains striking original color and imagery despite
some creasing and tackholes by the corners from
understandable one-time display. The front offers
six cards, with note to the key card of Babe Ruth
and Rabbit Maranville; other HOFers pictured are
Jim Bottomley, Kiki Cuyler, Burleigh Grimes, Waite
Hoyt, Travis Jackson, Chuck Klein, Bill Terry and
both Waner Brothers, bringing the total number of
HOFers represented to an amazing 12 of the 24 pictured! A great little piece that may not come around
again, it is that rare.
107 1938 Our National Game

Gehrig, Joe DiMaggio, Jimmie Foxx, Mel Ott, Dizzy
Dean, Bob Feller, Hank Greenberg, Al Simmons, Joe
McCarthy and Charlie Gehringer. These show honest
and fairly consistent wear, averaging roughly Ex
overall. These were purchased so long ago that an old
dealer priced Lou Gehring and Joe DiMaggio at
$4 each on the backing!

1101950 All Star Pinups
Complete Set in Original Album NM............ 350
One of my personal favorites of the oddball 1950s
sets, this is an utterly charming custom album with
10 different 7 inch color bordered round discs. The
backs of these offer advice to budding baseball players. The cover has a crease but the interior pages are
in outstanding condition, with note to key HOFers
Joe DiMaggio, Ted Williams, Jackie Robinson, Stan
Musial and popular stars Rizzuto, Hodges, Kiner and
Kell. Fun piece, these can easily bring $1,000 when
broken down as single pages to collectors.

Lower grade but far from terrible, this is a perfect

note some of the regular series cards were wet at one

Ex+ w/nicer..... 2000
Clean overall set, there many extremely fine well
centered Ex-Mt and better cards throughout. Assembled from a very large quantity, this was the #1
set. The breakdown value here is simply tremendous
as the commons have such a high catalog value, and
there is also a very substantial selection of stars. The
key cards grade as follows: 1 Williams Ex, 9 Rizzuto
Ex-Mt ctd, 10 Ashburn Ex-Mt, 18 N Fox Ex-Mt ctd,
32 Musial PSA 5, 33 Reese Ex++, 44 Bauer/Berra/

Berra Ex++, 146 E Wynn Ex-Mt o/c, 153 W Ford
Ex++ and 160 C Abrams PSA 5. The main series
cards are a superb Ex-Mt/NM overall with only slight
variance and an inordinate number of well centered
cards. The tougher semi-high and high number series
cards are also nice, about 75% or more Ex-Mt but
the centering is more typical for the issue. Overall
this is an exceptionally fresh, crisp and clean offering,
hand selected from a large quantity for both centering and eye appeal.

1191954 Topps
Collection of 157 different cards NM.......... 1750
Strong lot of 1954s, as nice as have seen in some time.
Condition looks to be 80-90% Near Mint, with note
to quality centering. These are very fresh cards, but
as with all high grade lots from this era, there could
be some trimmed cards. We sent a few cards into PSA
and received what we felt were very tough grades. No
duplication, we believe the Near Mint Beckett value
is $5,680. Better cards are as follows: 1 Williams PSA
6, 3 Irvin NM, 7 Kluszewski NM, 25 Kuenn RC ExMt+, 30 Mathews Ex+, 35 Gilliam NM, 37 Ford PSA
7 pd, 45 Ashburn Ex-Mt+, 70 Doby NM, 90 Mays

121 1955 Topps
Collection of 155 different cards NM.......... 1200
Lot contains 17 high numbers. Condition is about 6570% Near Mint, the balance almost all a high-end
Ex-Mt (centering varies but is still much, much better
than usually found for 55 Topps). No duplication, we
believe the Near Mint Beckett value is $4,260. These
are very fresh cards, but as with all high grade lots
from this era, there could be some trimmed cards.
Better cards are as follows: 1 Rhodes Ex-Mt+, 22
Skowron NM, 24 Newhouser NM, 31 Spahn NM, 47
Aaron Trimmed, 50 J Robinson PSA 5.5, 100 Irvin

and 200 Jensen NM.
120 1955 Bowman Complete Set Ex-Mt...... 1250
Quality set, condition is about 50-55% Ex-Mt or better, the balance mostly a strong Ex or Ex Plus. The
very underrated high number run reflects the rest of
the set and is nice. If desired, this can be upgraded
without tremendous expense to a pure Ex-Mt set as
the key cards are so strong. As it stands, this set offers one of the great values in 1950s baseball card sets

123 1956 Topps Graded Common Lot

................... 600
Clean lot of SGC and PSA graded commons, almost
all 7, 7.5 and 8s. An exact listing is on our website, we
estimate the SMR to be $1,790 on the lot. Clean lot
with many very nice cards.
124 1956 Topps
Collection of 254 different cards NM.......... 2000
Very well centered overall, this is an exceptionally
fine run of ungraded 56s. We feel these are 80-90%
overall Near Mint, we did not cull the commons and
secondary stars for 8s. These are very fresh cards,
but as with all high grade lots from this era, there
could be some trimmed cards. We sent a few cards
into PSA and received what we felt were very tough
grades. No duplication, we believe the Near Mint
Beckett value is $6,660. Loaded with better cards,
with note to the following: 1 Harridge RC PSA 5, 2

125 1957 Topps
Collection of 298 different cards NM.......... 1750
Extremely substantial lot of this beloved set, this contains a hefty 50 different semi-high numbers, providing for some serious catalog value (we believe $5,250
in NM Beckett). Condition is a striking Near Mint
overall, we did not review the commons and secondary stars for 8s, there could be some treasure here.
Condition appears to be at least 80-90% Near Mint
or better and looks great (perhaps 5-10% of the lot is
Nm-Mt; centering varies a bit but is quite good for a
lot of this size and for this issue. These are very fresh
cards with no duplication, but as with all high grade
lots from this era, there could be some trimmed
cards. Better cards are as follows: 2 Berra PSA 7, 7
Aparicio NM+, 15 Roberts Ex-Mt+, 30 Reese NM,
38 Fox NM, 55 Banks NM, 80 Hodges NM, 90 Spahn

does not come around every day.
127 1959 Fleer Ted Williams

Notable set as it offers a real (while admittedly low
grade) #68 Ted Signs. The rest of the set is a quite
clean and consistent Ex Plus or better, much more
like Ex-Mt (there are some weaker cards scattered
about). The key cards grade as follows: 1 Early Years
VG-Ex, 2 Babe Ruth VG-Ex/Ex (crisp card w/tiny
back wrinkle), 11 1935 - With Jimmie Foxx NM, 63
All Star Record NM, 67 With Sammy Snead Ex, 68

126 1958 Topps
Collection of 414 different cards NM.......... 2000
Another extremely substantial lot from a classic
Topps set, this contains a large number of star
cards, low numbers and specials. NM Beckett value
is supposed to be $7,180 but we did not verify this.
Condition is a superb Near Mint overall, we did not
review the commons and secondary stars for 8s, there
could be some treasure here. Condition appears to be
at least 80-90% Near Mint or better and looks great
(perhaps 10% or more of the lot is Nm-Mt; centering varies a bit but is quite good for a lot of this size
and for this issue). These are very fresh cards with
no duplication, but as with all high grade lots from
this era, there could be some trimmed cards. Better

1958s in a sterling Near Mint or better grade overall.

129 1959 Topps Complete Set
Ex-Mt...... 1500
Strong set, this is about 80+% Ex Plus or better, with
many nice Ex-Mt and Near Mint cards, including
the key Bob Gibson Rookie Card, which is in a PSA
7 holder. The cards are fairly consistent, some very,
very, very simple upgrading can be done if desired
but this is a solid mid to better grade set overall.
The high numbers are nice and while there are some
weaker cards scattered about, are quite good for a set
in this grade. Widely collected set that is so popular
among dealers for the huge breakdown value, the key
cards grade as follows: 10 Mantle PSA 5 (well centered, tough grade), 50 Mays VG-Ex/Ex, 150 Musial
Ex, 163 Koufax Ex+, 202 Maris Ex, 380 Aaron Ex+,
461 Mickey Mantle HR Ex-Mt+, 478 Clemente ExMt, 510 Yankees TC VG-Ex/Ex, 514 Bob Gibson RC

believe the NM Beckett value is $5,160. Fresh lot with
no duplication, but as with all high grade lots from
this era, there could be some trimmed cards. We did
not pick the secondary stars and commons for 8s and
9s, the lot does appear to be 30-35% Near Mint to
Mint and is in simply superb condition overall.
131 1961 Fleer Complete Set
VG-Ex....... 200
Pleasing set, this has an underrated high number
run, providing for a solid breakdown value. The
cards are well centered with bright color and are
strikingly consistent. Nothing really needs to be
touched here, this is just a well collected mid-grade
set. The key cards are as follows: 1 Baker, Cobb,

132 1961 Topps

Ex+ (some variance)..... 1350
Good 61 set, this one varies, about 25% Ex-Mt and
better, 15% VG-Ex or so, the balance mostly Ex and
Ex Plus, more like Ex Plus. The vital high number
run is quite clean and fine for this type of set, with
note to several sharp Near Mint secondary stars like
Jim Gentile, Jackie Jensen and a few commons. For
this reason, this set has a tremendous breakdown value. The key cards are as follows: 2 Maris VG-Ex/Ex,
44 Mantle/Maris/Colav LL Ex-Mt, 150 Mays VG+,
290 Musial Ex-Mt, 300 Mantle Ex, 307 Mantle WS2

many cleaner cards, this would not be a very difficult
project to upgrade if desired.

133 1962 Jello Complete Set (extremely rare)
-1 card
VG-Ex..... 2500
Among the rarest post-war sets has to be the ever
elusive 1962 Jell-O Baseball Card set. Produced in
extremely limited quantities, especially relative to
the 1963 Jell-O issue, there are probably less than
10 full sets in existence. Lusted after by team and set
collectors, some tough commons can sell for hundreds of dollars by themselves. The offered set is a
pleasing VG-Ex overall (these hand-cut issues are
notoriously difficult to grade). Amazingly enough,
only three cards have back damage or writing. The
cuts vary of course, some will grade Good, others Ex,
but we would estimate the set to be about half VGEx, the balance mostly GVG or VG; this was clearly
a set assembled with some care. Please note the only
missing card is #1 Skowron. The key cards are as
follows: 2 Richardson VG, 5 Mantle Good, 6 Maris
Good, 7 Berra VG, 9 Ford VG-Ex/Ex, 20 Kaline VG,
56 Schilling Good, 61 Yaz VG-Ex/Ex, 62 Jensen Ex,
69 Keough Ex-Mt+, 70 Tasby VG-Ex, 72 Green VGEx, 80 Averill VG-Ex/Ex, 85 Killebrew Ex+, 88 Tuttle
VG-Ex, 89 Lemon VG-Ex/Ex, 95 Stephens VG-Ex/Ex,
101 Hodges VG-Ex/Ex, 109 Koufax VG, 111 Sherry
VG-Ex/Ex, 114 Snider VG, 116 Coleman VG-Ex/Ex,
142 Mays VG, 143 Miller GVG, 147 Mathews VG+,
149 Aaron VG+ *wb, 158 White VG-Ex and 173
Clemente VG-Ex/Ex. This is almost certainly the first
time that we have ever offered one of these for public
sale and this represents a grand opportunity to fill a
virtually impossible hole in any advanced post-war
baseball card set collection. The break-up value here
is seemingly endless with the combination of many
superstars and so many single-printed cards.
136 1966-1969 Topps Partial Set Collection
(1,288 cards)
................... 400
Collection of four mid-grade 1960s Topps partial lots,
neatly presented in sheets and binders. Breakdown

500 Aaron, 590 Skowron; 1967 Topps (259), almost
Ex-Mt overall but varies, includes six high numbers,
several secondary stars/specials and these stars: 140
Stargell, 200 Mays, 333 Jenkins, 402 Phillies RC, 480
McCovey; 1968 Topps (390), strong Ex Plus to Ex-Mt
overall, nicer grade, w/stars 4 Yaz/Kill, 45 Seaver, 58

1969 Topps (380), also nice, close to Ex-Mt overall, w/
stars 1 Yaz/Carter/Oliva, 85 Brock, 99.1 Nettles RC,
120 Rose, 130 Yaz, 190 Mays, 200 Gibson, 255 Carlton, 400 Drysdale, 410 Kaline, 412 Mantle CL, 424

550 B. Robinson, 573 Palmer, 597 Fingers RC, 630

there will be many secondary stars and specials, condition does vary but these do get much nicer as you
get into the 1968 and 1969 Topps cards. Respectable
collection overall, ideal for dealer breakdown or for
a collector starting off new sets.

138 1969 Topps Complete Set
Ex-Mt/NM....... 900
Exceedingly sharp and clean set, these are very fresh
looking cards. However, most of the key cards are
off-center but otherwise Near Mint. The balance of
the set is better, with many well centered cards. The
key cards are as follows: 50 Clemente NM o/c, 95
Bench NM o/c, 100 Aaron NM o/c, 120 Rose NM, 190
Mays VG-Ex/Ex, 255 Carlton NM o/c, 260 R Jackson

510 Carew NM o/c, 533 Ryan NM o/c, 550 B. Robinson NM o/c, 573 Palmer NM o/c, 597 Fingers RC
NM and 630 Bonds RC NM. With some work, this
could become quite the 69 set but it still offers a very
substantial value as-is. As we all know, even in PSA
7s, these are not difficult cards to find, so changing
20-30 cards out of a 664 card set is a very manageable project.
137 1966 Topps Complete Set w/107 graded cards

Mint to Mint, 40% Near Mint, with note to a very
strong high number run. A very fine set overall, this
represents an amazing value with the large number
of graded cards, including PSA 8 examples of most of
the key cards. Please note the Jim Fregosi PSA 9 card
is a low population card and can bring hundeds of
dollars or more on its own.
140 1971 Topps Complete Set

very nice. Condition is about 40% Nm-Mt or better,
the balance virtually all a strong Near Mint or better.
Centering varies somewhat like always for a 72 set
but is quite good overall. The high numbers are
about 30% Nm-Mt, the balance a strong Near Mint

142 1975 Laughlin Super Stand Ups
Gehrig, Lou
VG (pinhole)..... 125
Fun, bright and clean issue is extremely scarce. With
excellent eye appeal, a faint tackhole in the center
and slight wear in the U in Lou in the bottom border
keep this otherwise extremely clean oversize standup
in VG. Hand signed Bob Laughlin 75 on the back.
143 1975 Laughlin Super Stand Ups
Mays, Willie
VG (pinhole)..... 175
Bright and clean, this is one of the better likenesses
from this rare series. Sharp and attractive, tackholes
at the top center and bottom left and right keep this
from running potentially thousands of dollars. How
many of you advanced Mays collectors have one of
these? Hand signed Bob Laughlin 75 on the back.
144 1975 Laughlin Super Stand Ups
Williams, Ted
VG (pinhole).......... 125
Bright and clean, this has a tackhole at the top center
and wear by one corner on the back. The image is
especially bright and untouched, as are the surfaces.
Even extremely advanced Ted Williams collections do
not have one of these. Hand signed Bob Laughlin
36
75 on the back.
147.2 1992 Donruss Diamond King Supers
Ripken, Cal (rare)
NM.......... 1000
A truly rare and key modern card, this is a beautiful
5x7 extremely limited edition modern issue. The exact
production numbers are unknown but some believe
less than 20 of each were made. A cornerstone of any
advanced Cal Ripken card collection, we have heard
that these have sold for $2,500 each in private sales.
The offered card is a strong Nm-Mt with virtually no
visible wear, a brilliantly colored front and a super
sharp reverse with no chipping on the blue borders.
How many have seen one of these before, this is the
absolute key to this very interesting early 1990s set.
147.3 1992 Donruss Diamond King Supers
Near-Set of 21 different (very scarce) Nm-Mt.... 400
Extremely tough issue, one of the most desirable of
all 1990s issues. Condition is easily NM to Nm-Mt
overall and very solid overall. Some believe that only
20 of each was produced but we could not independently verify this. Missing only Cal Ripken, Will
Clark, Frank Thomas and John Kruk, keys include
Randy Johnson, Wade Boggs, Paul Molitor and Jeff
Bagwell. Other players include Dwight Gooden,
Mark Langston, Fred McGriff, Julio Franco and
David Justice and George Bell. Substantial and rare
offering for this many cards from this very attractive
5x7 issue.

147 1991 Score
Superb Original Artwork Lot (23 pcs) NM........ 200
Lovely lot, these are terrific 8x11 original pencil artwork sketches that were actually used in the 1991
Score All Star Team subset. Produced by an artist
named Chrisopher Greco in August of 1990, these
are large images that are extremely evocative and
of tremendous quality to our eyes. The star power
here is terrific, with names like Bonds, Clark, Clemens, Fielder, Griffey, Rickey Henderson, Larkin
and Sandberg. There are multiple iterations for
some players. With the white hot market for original
artwork and production items, these should be of
tremendous interest to many bidders. Fresh to the
hobby, a fantastic little lot that also has tremendous
display potential.
Graded Baseball Cards
1887 N172 Old Judge
148 Anson, Cap (street clothes) SGC 4........... 1200
Iconic 19th century card, the key HOFer to the legendary Old Judge set and one of the best cards of
Cap Anson. This card offers a pleasing front with
no visible creases or wrinkles, even under magnification. The image is a touch light but fully contrasts
and visible. The corners are VG-Ex or so with fairly
consistent wear. The back has no damage but there
is a back crease. Overall, a very pleasing mid-grade
example of an absolutely vital 19th century card from
this HOFer and first player to amass 3,000 hits in his
playing career.
149 Burch (Brooklyn)
SGC 2........... 100
Extremely attractive oversize card has a wonderful
image of this Brooklyn Dodger player. The image
quality is quite nice, a crease by the right edge is the
only real issue here. The back shows very mild evidence of scrapbook removal, not bad at all overall.
150 Clarkson, John
SGC 3 (incredible image).......... 500
A truly classic and evocative image, this card offers a
gorgeous image of an outstretched John Clarkson, a
HOF pitcher, in his great period Red Sox uniform.
The card exhibits some honest corner wear, has no
back damage and has very clean surfaces. Ideal card
for the grade, you truly cannot ask for a nicer image
on an Old Judge card.
151 Conway (Boston)
SGC 3........... 125
Fine looking 3 has an absolutely gorgeous image,
with amazing contrast. There is a nick at the right
border, the front otherwise looks great. The back has
multiple creases. Corner wear is mild and consistent,
the image here is truly special.

October 7 Auction: Baseball Cards
1887 N172 Old Judge
152 Fagan (Denver)
SGC 2.5........ 200
Tough card as the Denver Old Judges are one of the
scarcest teams. Another card with a fine image and
clean surfaces, the back is clean. Corner wear keeps
this at a very pleasing 2.5 overall.
153 Gleason, Kid
SGC 5.5........ 350
Very desirable card of the 1919 Black Sox manager,
how often do these come around at all, much less in
a 5.5 grade? Fully deserving of its grade, this is well
centered with a superb image, very clean surfaces
and no back damage. Corner wear keeps this at a
very fine 5.5 overall. Terrific card, fresh to market.
154 Keefe, Tim (NY)
PSA 3............ 360
Desirable Old Judge HOFer, this is a very attractive
pose with a reasonably well contrasted image. This
has no back damage from scrapbook removal but
there is a back crease. The surfaces are clean, wear is
only really noticeable at the extreme bottom border.
The corners are VG-Ex or better.
155 Kelly, Honest John (umpire)
SGC 5.5 (rare).......... 1000
Great card, you have to love that this is both a scarce
umpire card and also a Western Association. The
image is terrific, the surfaces are exceptionally clean,
this is well centered, the back looks great as well. This
is really all any reasonable collector could want in an
Old Judge card. Fresh to market, the winning bidder
should really enjoy this great card.
156 Madden, Kid (Gypsy Queen) PSA 2.... 375
Fine card as this is a very scarce Gypsy Queen. We
have not seen this image until now, and it is a beautiful image. Creasing and corner keep this at a 2 but it
is not abused in any way and the back is not bad. Buy
this card for the image and the Gypsy Queen logo.
157 O’Rourke, Tom
(Jersey City, very rare)
PSA 2.......... 2000
A truly rare Old Judge, perhaps the rarest Old Judge
that we have ever handled. Old Judge HOFers have
many variations in pose and such but true team variations hardly ever come to market. The offered card
is so special as it is the extremely rare Jersey City
team variation for elusive HOFer Jim O’Rourke. The
card itself offers a reasonably nice image with a clean
front, there is just one pinprick of wear. The back
shows evidence of scrapbook removal but is far from
terrible. Clean and attractive card, how many ever
seen one of these before?
38
October 7 Auction: Baseball Cards
1887 N172 Old Judge
158 Orr, Dave
PSA 5............ 300
Great card as this is a New York Metropolitan from
the Old Judge set. This card has a terrific image of
Orr stretching to catch a ball and offers excellent
contrast. The surfaces are quite clean, the back very
nice. Clean and very attractive Old Judge card, quite
scarce, especially in this quality.
160 Ward, Monte
PSA 3.5......... 450
Popular card of HOFer and magnate John Montgomery Ward. This is a pleasing full body pose of Ward
batting in his uniform. The card has no creases, just
some honest corner wear. The back is clean, very
good card for the grade.
1895 N300 Mayo Cut Plug
161 Dan Brouthers (Louisville on shirt)
SGC 2....... 600
Key card, this is one of the most popular HOFers in
this great set. Properly graded, a few creases and corner wear keep this at a respectable 2. The back has
no damage, the image is quite nice and the surfaces
are clean outside of the creasing.
162 Bill Dahlen
SGC 6..... 1000
Very desirable card, Dahlen amassed 2,461 hits in his
career and is often mentioned as a potential HOFer. A
tough card in any grade, the offered has a lofty (and
deserved) Ex-Mt 6 grade. A remarkable card, this
has four sharp edges, square corners, brilliant black
borders, a superb image and a jet black reverse. This
honestly looks much more like a 7 than a 6; slight
centering to the left border is mentioned for strict
technical accuracy. This is absolutely one of the finest
Mayo cards that we have ever handled for grade.
163 Hugh Duffy
SGC 5 (highest graded)...... 1500
A great condition scarcity, there is only one 5 on the
PSA pop report (the highest graded) and we believe
this is the top SGC example. A lovely card, this is well
centered with a gorgeous image, the front looks great,
the back is jet black and superb. The edges are crisp,
with subtle bits of white showing at the corners and
at the center of the right edge. Extremely fine card,
this card of this popular HOFer and former .400
hitter is almost non-existent in this quality.
Go to www.cleansweepauctions.com for many
additional images. Initial bids must be placed by
6 PM EST on Wednesday October 7.
October 7 Auction: Baseball Cards
1895 N300 Mayo Cut Plug
164 Brickyard Kennedy
PSA 2........ 150
Bright card has a fine image and vibrant black borders, providing for excellent eye appeal. This has
some wear on the back from scrapbook removal (not
bad at all) and a crease on the front. Very nice card
for the grade.
165 1908 Rose Postcard
Fred Tenney
PSA Authentic......... 360
Likely rare, there are only two on the PSA pop report
(including the offered card). A widely collected player, this is the first time we have seen one of these. This
was mailed but is still quite bright and clean, with
some subtle creasing the only possible distraction.
We are not completely sure why this came back an
Authentic, it appears to be at least VG to us, perhaps
because it was mailed. The image looks great, the
color is strong and surfaces are quite clean overall.
Extremely attractive card overall.
166 1909 E101
Ty Cobb
SGC 2....... 700
Extremely bright and attractive card has a wonderful
image, no back damage and excellent color. The borders are white, the corners are Good overall.
The corner wear combines with moderate creasing
to keep this at a pleasing 2. Very tough caramel card
with a classic image of Ty Cobb that looks great,
we hardly ever see this very tough card, offered in an
ideal collector grade.
40
167 1909 E92 Crofts Cocoa Ty Cobb SGC 1.5.. 1750
Great caramel card of Ty Cobb, the key to this extremely difficult subset. This card offers a fine looking classic image of Cobb, notable for rich color.
The extremely desirable back is quite clean and vibrant. Creasing and corner wear keep this at a technical 1.5 but the card feels like a 2 to us (if that even
really matters given the scarcity).
1909-11 T206 White Border Singles
168 38 Bernhard
PSA 4............... 90
Bright and well centered, with no visible creases or
wrinkles. The color is terrific, the borders are very
clean, fine looking 4 overall.
169 40 Bescher (portrait)
PSA 3.5 (Cycle 460 back).......... 100
Very bright and attractive card has one nick by a
border and mild corner wear only. The color on the
front is terrific, the scarce back also exceptionally
clean and vibrant. Ideal card for a T206 back collector.
170 50 Breitenstein
PSA 6............. 250
Better Southern Leaguer as it has an Old Mill back
and is a PSA 6. The corners come to crisp points, the
borders are white, the color very fine. Centering is
quite good, the back is perfectly clean. Ideal card for
the grade.
171 64Bush
PSA 1 (Carolina Brights back)........ 200
One of the most collected T206 backs, this example
has some creasing and general wear but still displays
quite well. The front of the card has creasing. Extensive wear at one corner keeps this at a pleasing 1.
October 7 Auction: Baseball Cards
1909-11 T206 White Border Singles
172 71 Carey
PSA 6............. 250
Extremely attractive card with great visuals. The
corners come to solid points, the borders are perfectly white, the image terrific. The back looks great,
extremely high-end 6 to our eyes.
173 94 Cobb (portrait, green bckgrnd)
SGC 2............ 700
The key T206 HOFer, this is missing from so many
sets. The offered card will not set any records but it is
an honest 2 with note to excellent image quality and
a clean back. Creasing and corner wear keep this at a
respectable 2.
174 157 Ellam
PSA 5.5.......... 150
Very attractive card is well centered with bright
white borders and perfectly clean surfaces. Slight
wear at the lower right corner keeps this at a very
precise 5.5. The back is clean.
175 172 Foster
PSA 5............. 150
Well centered, bright, clean and attractive 5. Color is
strong, the back is clean. Mild corner keeps this at an
ideal Ex 5.
176 175 Fritz
PSA 4............... 90
Clean card has even corner wear, perfect imagery
and a flawless reverse. Solid 4 overall.
177 175 Fritz
PSA 6.5.......... 275
Well centered with square corners, very clean card.
Corner wear at the extreme tips keeps this at awfully
nice 6.5. The imagery is terrific, the back perfectly
clean.
178 193 Guiheen
PSA 6.5.......... 275
Awfully close to a 7, PSA split hairs a bit here. The
corners come to points, exhibiting hardly any wear.
This is well centered with bright white borders, perfect color and image quality. The back is quite clean
as well. Terrific Southern Leaguer with the desirable
Old Mill back.
179 199 Hart (Montgomery) PSA 6............. 250
Crisp and clean card is centered heavily to the top
border. The color and borders are very fine, as is the
back. The corners come to solid points.
180 213 Hooker
PSA 6............. 250
Fine looking card has an outstanding image and
great color. Centered a hair to the left, this has solid
Ex-Mt or better corners. There is very slight wear at
the extreme right border in one spot, this is otherwise
a superb looking card. The back is perfectly clean.
41
October 7 Auction: Baseball Cards
1909-11 T206 White Border Singles
181 228 Jennings (portrait)
SGC 7 (highest graded)...... 900
Super sharp and bright card has outstanding color
and image quality, Centered slightly to the left border, the card has four sharp corners, pristine surfaces and an especially vibrant and clean Piedmont
reverse. We did not attempt to cross this to a PSA 7,
the card certainly looks to be properly graded in our
view.
182 277 Lentz
PSA 6............. 250
Centered to the right border, this has crisp corners,
perfect color and a terrific image. The borders are
nice and white, the back is also a clean Old Mill.
183 337 Mullaney
PSA 6............. 250
Well centered with a terrific image, very slight wear
at the top two corners keeps this at a very nice 6. Fine
looking Southern Leaguer, the color and image quality are terrific. The back is a perfectly clean Old Mill.
184 361 Orth
PSA 4............... 90
High-end 4 has no creases, perfect image quality and
very clean surfaces. Centered to the top border with
mild corner wear, very nice for the grade.
185 377 Persons
PSA 6............. 250
Crisp card has square corners, perfect surfaces and
good color. The edges are crisp, with wear at one spot
at the extreme top border. Very high-end card for the
grade, the back is quite clean.
186 395 Reagan (pop 1/2)
PSA 7............. 750
One of only two 7s from this recent submission, this
is a great looking card. The corners come to solid
points, with wear only really noticeable at the lower
right. This has a perfect image, immaculate surfaces and a clean back. This is a pop 1/2 with only two
higher, and would be an upgrade for almost all of
you.
187 398 Revelle
PSA 4............... 90
Clean card has rich color and a perfect image. We
could not see any creases or wrinkles, even under
magnification. The card has Ex or better corners and
appears to be undergraded but we are not certain of
this. What is clear is that the card looks terrific for
the grade.
188 404 Rockenfeld
PSA 6.5.......... 275
Bright and attractive card has a superb image and a
very fresh look. Centered slightly to the top border,
the corners come to points but exhibit extremely minute wear. The borders are bright white, the surfaces
perfectly clean, as is the Old Mill back. Very fine card
is just a hair shy of Near Mint.
42
October 7 Auction: Baseball Cards
1909-11 T206 White Border Singles
189 409 Ryan
PSA 6.5.......... 275
Very well centered with great color and image quality. The borders could not be any whiter. The corners
come to solid points, very faint wear at the upper left
corner keeps this from grading a Near Mint 7. The
Old Mill back is perfectly clean.
196 1910 E104- Nadja Caramel
Connie Mack (blank back)
SGC 1.5.... 350
Scarce card, this offers a classic image of vital HOFer
Connie Mack. The color and image quality are remarkable here. This grades only a 1.5 due to surface
wear by the lower right corner, a crease at the upper
left corner and some general wear. The blank back is
actually clean with no damage.
190 423 Seitz
PSA 5.5.......... 150
Fairly well centered, bright, clean and attractive
card. The image is perfect, the borders nice and
white. Slight wear at the upper left corner led PSA to
grade this a somewhat conservative 5.5. The back is
clean.
191 429 Shaughnessy (pop 1/3) PSA 7........ 750
Extremely popular card, how often do these come
around in 7 holders? The other 7 in this recent
submission, this is an awfully fine card. The image is
absolutely perfect and beautiful, three corners come
to sharp points, only the upper left exhibits any type
of noticeable wear. The borders are bright white, the
surfaces immaculate. The back is a perfectly clean
Old Mill. This is a pop 1/3 with none higher and
should be a very popular lot given the player and
condition!
192 436 Smith (Shreveport) PSA 5.5.......... 150
Clean card has bright color background and is quite
clean. Slight corner wear and edge wear at one spot
at the extreme right border combine for this to grade
a very pleasing Ex Plus 5.5 overall.
193 470 Thebo
PSA 6............. 250
Very well centered, this has bright white borders and
immaculate surfaces. The corners come to points, exhibiting hardly any wear. Awfully nice Ex-Mt 6, this
will be an upgrade for most of you. Pop 1/5,
with only 2 higher.
194 473 Thornton
PSA 6............. 250
Sharp Near Mint card has four strong corners, great
color and perfect surfaces. Centering to the top
border led PSA to grade this an Ex-Mt 6. The back is
clean, very crisp and sharp T206 Southern Leaguer.
195 Collection of 4 Southern Leaguers ............. 150
Four clean Southern Leaguers that present much,
much nicer than their grades: Bastian 3, Bay 2.5,
Guiheen 2.5 and Miller 1.5. The last two have back
damage but great fronts.

October 7 Auction: Baseball Cards
197 1910 T208 Fireside Barry
PSA Authentic (altered on front)........... 1200
Among the rarest of all tobacco issues, it has been
years and years since we have even seen or held a
card from the revered T208 Fireside set. The offered
card has had professional restoration on the front,
with color added over a dime size or smaller area at
the top border (the front is otherwise bright, colorful
and attractive). It is the back that makes this card of
course and fortunately the back IS COMPLETELY
ORIGINAL AND CLEAN. For someone collecting
backs, this is really all you need and the issue with
the front will mean this card can fit into the budgetary range of a much wider base of collectors. Who
wants to own a card from a famously rare tobacco
set?
198 1910 T209 Contentnea Photo Series
Collection of 5 different
................... 200
Very tough issue, this is a very attractive Minor
League tobacco set that offers true photos, something
very unusual at the time that these were issued.
The cards are as follows: Boyle SGC 1.5, Byrd SGC
3, Griffn SGC 3, Phoenix SGC 1.5 and Schmidt SGC
Authentic.
199 1910 Tip Top Bread Maddox PSA 5........ 250
Great set, these are such cool cards to me. Well centered and clean, this has a terrific image, a clean back
and mild and consistent corner wear. Ideal 5, these
seem so undervalued at current market levels to us.
200 1911 S74 Silk with Paper Backing
Mathewson
SGC 4....... 275
Scarce issue when found with the original paper
backing, we have not had a Matty like this in years.
The offered card has its vibrant original sheen, is well
centered with excellent image quality. The always
present back crease from the time of issue keeps this
at an awfully nice 4 overall. An underrated issue, it
will be interesting to see what happens with these in
the future.
201 1911 T3 5 Sam Crawford
PSA 5........ 500
Bright, crisp and attractive card, a classic example of
a T3 Turkey Red HOFer. This has crisp edges, a clean
back and especially clean surfaces. The corners show
some wear, but it is certainly mild and consistent. The
color and image quality are terrific, a fully acceptable
Ex 5 card.
203 1913 Pinkerton Chief Bender SGC 3....... 240
Attractive larger size postcard offers a fine image of
Chief Bender in his classic period A’s uniform. This
has no clear creasing, clean surfaces and a fine image.
There is noticeable corner wear at the bottom two
corners and some mild staining on the blank reverse.
Not a bad card at all, scarce of course.

October 7 Auction: Baseball Cards
204 1914 Cracker Jack
17 Bresnahan (no # on back)
SGC 1....... 150
Very tough card, a 1 has not traded publicly in years.
This has an attractive front with a nice image, a slight
chip at the bottom border is the only real distraction.
The back has some damage.
205 1917 E135 Collins McCarthy
142 Edd Roush
SGC 3....... 150
Well centered with very clean surfaces, fine corner
wear and a very subtle crease. The back is clean,
again another awfully nice card for a 3.
206 1917 H801-8 Boston Store 139
Eppa Rixey (pop 1/2, highest graded) PSA 7...... 800
A phenomenal card, this is centered nearly 50/50 all
around with four very sharp corners, immaculate
surfaces, a fantastic image and a spotless reverse. A
true condition gem, this issue hardly ever turns up in
anything approaching this quality. The other 7 last
traded publicly ten years ago for the almost comical price of $766 on ebay, it will be interesting to see
where this gorgeous card ends up.
202 1911 T3 35 Joe Tinker
SGC 7 (highest graded any company)............ 3500
Stunning card, this happens to be one of the most
difficult of all T3 Turkey Red HOFers to find in top
quality. There are no PSA 7s (two 6s are the top examples in the PSA population report) and this is the
only SGC 7. As for the card itself, it is in truly beautiful condition. The corners all come to square points
and are sharp, the borders could not be any cleaner,
nor the image any nicer. The back looks great, the
surfaces are pristine. Very recently graded, we did
not attempt to cross this into a PSA 7. A special card,
a great chance to own the finest known example of a
HOFer from one of the greatest sets of baseball cards
ever produced.
207 1927 Sports Company America
Babe Ruth
SGC 4....... 400
Very unusual Babe Ruth card, I like that this is from
1927, his most famous season. We could not see any
creasing, even under magnification. The card is well
centered with clean white borders, a good photo and
clean surfaces. Mild and fairly consistent corner wear
keeps this at a very pleasing 4 overall. Tougher card,
we have not had one of these in several years.
208 1933 Goudey 119 Rogers Hornsby SGC 5.. 150
Key card, this is a fine looking horizontal image. Very
bright and attractive Ex card is centered mildly to
the bottom border. Corners come to points, exhibiting very light wear only. Very solid 5.

October 7 Auction: Baseball Cards
209 1933 Goudey 155 Joe Judge
PSA 7........ 100
Popular card of a good player, this is a lovely Near
Mint card. Well centered with four sharp corners,
this will be an upgrade for almost all of you.
210 1933 Uncle Jacks Hack Wilson PSA 3........ 210
Another bear of a card, this is one of the toughest
HOFers from this great set. Fairly well centered with
good color and a fine image, this has no technical
defects. Some fine creasing by the top border is the
only real distraction here and probably led to the 3
grade. Clean and attractive card overall, something
that hardly ever comes around.
1934 Goudeys
211 40 John Stone
SGC 9.............. 450
Condition rarity, a Mint 9 1934 Goudey card. Centered just about 50/50 all around, this has four super
sharp corners, pristine white borders, great color and
image quality and most importantly, that signature
Mint look and feel.
212 51 Rip Collins
SGC 8.............. 100
Quality player, this card has four sharp corners, perfect centering, rich color and clean borders. Terrific
condition 1934 Goudey card.
213 74 Boken
SGC 8.5........... 200
An older SGC card, this one has four super sharp
corners and is centered to the right border.
214 83 Mooney
SGC 8.5........... 200
Super sharp card has four razor sharp corners, clean
surfaces and a great image. Centered slightly to the
upper left corner or this likely would have been a
Mint 9.
46
215 87 Darrow
SGC 9.............. 700
A special card, how often do you find a 1934 Goudey
card in a Mint 9 holder, much less a high number?
This card is extremely well centered with four Mint
corners. The borders and surfaces are immaculate,
as is the back. The image quality is flawless. This is
a perfect card for the very, very condition sensitive
collector who only wants the best.
1940 Cincinnati Reds Team Issue
216 Arnovich (pop 1/2)
PSA 9............... 100
Quality Jewish ballplayer has a following among

Corners are dead perfect, the card could not be any
nicer.
218 Hutchings (pop 1/3)
PSA 9................. 60
Mint card from this small b/w Reds team issue set.
Corners are dead perfect, the card could not be any
nicer.
219 Lombardi
PSA 7.5............ 100
The only HOFer in this uncommon set, this is a classic image of HOFer Ernie Lombardi smiling. The
card is well centered with four sharp corners, it is not
clear to us why this did not grade at least an 8.
220 Wilson (pop 1/4)
PSA 9................. 60
Mint card from this small b/w Reds team issue set.
Corners are dead perfect, the card could not be any
nicer.
October 7 Auction: Baseball Cards
221 1949 Bowman 100 Hodges RC SGC 6.5...... 80
Ideal card for the grade, this is well centered with
square corners, rich color and an outstanding image.
The borders and image are perfectly clean and look
great. The Rookie Card of a beloved player and the
1969 Mets manager, this is so undervalued.
222 1949 Bowman 226 D Snider RCPSA 6........ 300
Key card, these seem so cheap at current market
levels. Clean card is centered mildly to the left border, wear is only really noticeable at the lower left
corner. The surfaces are clean, the color excellent,
the surfaces clean and the image is quite nice.
1952 Topps
228 27 Jethroe
PSA 9 oc........ 90
Quality player, this card has brilliant color and four
Mint corners. Very heavy centering led reasonably to
the oc qualifier.
229 89 Lipon

Fine 8 is well centered with four sharp corners and
great color.

these grades.
224 1950 Bowman 77 Duke Snider BVG 8.5.... 400
Centered to the right, this extraordinary card has
four amazingly sharp corners, among the best we
have ever seen from this issue. This second-year card
of Duke Snider has a flawless image, bright white
borders and a pristine reverse. Top quality here.
225 1951 Bowman 150 Garcia
SGC 8......... 25
Well centered with four sharp corners, fine 8.
226 1951 Major League All Stars
6 Ralph Kiner
BVG 5....... 750
Extremely scarce card, these hardly ever come
around. A terrific piece, this has square corners,
terrific color, excellent image quality and very clean
surfaces. Centered slightly to the right border, a tiny
wrinkle on the back by the die-cut likely led Beckett
to keep this at a 5. Strong example of a truly scarce
card.
1952 Topps
227 17 Jim Hegan (red back) PSA 8........... 800
Extremely desirable card, freshly back from PSA.
This very, very condition sensitive 52 low number

Vital card, this is the most popular card of Jackie
Robinson from the ultimate Topps set. A high number, these have never been easy to find in top quality
and often bring a king’s ransom when they come to
market. Offered is something special, a special true
Near Mint 7 example. The color and image quality
are simply outstanding, the centering is not bad at
all, the borders are white and this has the usual stray
print mark at the lower right corner. The corners
come to solid Near Mint points. Fine card, a real
beauty, this will be an upgrade for almost all of you
and is one of those cards that seems likely to increase
dramatically in value in the future, especially in such
fine quality.

One of my favorite cards in the set and among the
most desirable of the vital high numbers, this is such
a great card. We have to say this is a very bizarre
grade as 99% of all cards with an off-center qualifier are 80/20 off-center or worse, the offered card is
just about 70/30 all around, not bad at all. The image
looks great, the back is even centered. Superb card
for the grade, someone may get a real steal here!
