Fall 2014
Dear Mercede,
Why Volunteer?
Thank you for your continued support of The McKenzie Noelle Wilson
Foundation! In our fall issue of McKenzie's Messages we are: announcing the
date of the 5th Annual McKenzie's Run; celebrating our new McKenzie Clubs;
praising McKenzie's Academic Resource Centers; and challenging you to give
your time to local youth.
Did you know that
volunteering increases
self-confidence, combats
depression and helps people
make new friends? Its also a
great way to connect to the
needs of others and your
community. Volunteers are
needed each weekday at
McKenzie's Academic
Resource Center to mentor
youth. Mentored youth are
less likely to skip school and
partake in drug activities. With
all these reasons, why not
volunteer? Sign up online at

today!
It amazes us to continue to see such strong support from our community, family
and friends. Because of your support, over 300 youth in Jacksonville are
receiving free academic programs and over 70 children in Uganda, Africa are
blessed with a home and an education. Please visit our newly updated website
www.caregivegrow.org for more information, or follow us on Facebook, Twitter
or Instagram for continuous program and event updates.
With much gratitude,
Blake & Stephanie Wilson

"MARC!"
Throughout the summer we
were busy remodeling
McKenzie's Academic Resource
Centers to create an even more
efficient space for students to
grow. That included new paint,
carpet, furniture, computer lab
and computers! Thank you to
Home Depot for building a new
computer lab at MARC at
Countryside, thank you to
volunteers who built and painted
furniture and computer stations
at MARC at Portside, and thank
you to EverBank for donating 25
computer stations so our
students can have the tools to
excel academically!

The 5th Annual McKenzie's Run will start AND finish inside EverBank Field on
November 22nd at 9:30 a.m.! Since its establishment in 2010, as an event to
honor and remember McKenzie, the 5K and 1 mile fun run has grown to over
3,700 participants. It is now known as a uplifting community event that praises
youth and others who carry on McKenzie's caring spirit. This year's run will
continue that legacy of recognizing those who care. To start the race, Gus
Bradley, Jags head coach and the honorary McKenzie's Run coach, alongside
with Brian Sexton, will highlight volunteer accomplishments throughout the
year.
All proceeds from McKenzie's Run will go towards youth programs at
McKenzie's Academic Resource Centers in Jacksonville, as well as the care of
over 70 children living in the Amaka ga McKenzie orphanages in Uganda,
Africa.
Please join us in honoring McKenzie by walking or running as a team. With 3 or
more people it's only $15/person - register online at www.mckenziesrun.org. Or
you can help out at the run by volunteering - sign up online at

Vision
The Foundation is dedicated to
helping young people find their
purpose in an increasingly
complex and challenging world.
Mission
Our mission is to help young
people recognize their full
potential by providing programs
that encourage caring for others,
giving to those in need, and
growing in their own spirituality.
McKenzie Clubs Unite!
We'd like to welcome two new McKenzie Clubs this semester - Paxson High
School and Stanton College Prep! In addition to our McKenzie Clubs from
Bolles Middle and Upper, Episcopal High School, Ponte Vedra High School,
Providence High School, Fletcher High School and McKenzie's Academic
Resource Centers - students are uniting to care for others in BIG ways! They
are spreading awareness about the Foundation's mission at local events, such
as the Festival of Flight. They are also giving their time to mentor students at
MARC. And through November, they are rallying to create teams for

Our McKenzie's Academic Resource Centers (MARC) opened in early
September ready to serve over 300 students in two Jacksonville communities!
The beginning of another school-year at MARC was kicked off with a big
community celebration at each location. Families toured the MARCs, talked
with volunteers and staff, all while enjoying games, bounces houses and food.
Thank you to all the volunteers who made each celebration a huge success
with hundreds of residents attending!
MARCs mission is to increase the
high school graduation rate among
at-risk students. Free academic
programs are provided for children
from preschool through high school,
as well as adult education programs.
If you'd like to "make your MARC,"
please join us as a volunteer mentor
weekdays after-school. Sign up
online at www.mckenziegives.org.
Volunteers only need to be
13-years-old.
