What is Avmacol ™BR?
Avmacol BR is a patent-pending blend of broccoli
seed, sprout, and maitake mushroom extracts, in an
easy-to-swallow, one-a-day, enteric coated tablet.
Avmacol BR has been shown to induce, activate,
and stimulate protective enzymes in our cells
capable of detoxifying harmful estrogen mimickers

Sulforaphane is made in the small intestine,
and along with maitake-derived glucans,
travels from the small intestine to the
bloodstream.
By traveling in the bloodstream sulforaphane
and the maitake-derived glucans also reach
breast epithelial cells.
Moving across the intestinal wall and upon
entering the bloodstream, sulforaphane and
the maitake-derived glucans reach immune
cells, known as macrophages, inducing

What is the purpose of enteric coating?
Enteric coating allows the ingredients to be released
in the small intestine rather than the stomach
allowing for the myrosinase enzyme to convert
glucoraphanin to sulforaphane. Bypassing the
stomach also lessens the risk of GI discomfort
(stomach upset) that many experience consuming
broccoli or other products containing broccoli
extracts.
No. Unfortunately there is very little myrosinase
enzyme in the broccoli you consume. Broccoli seeds
and sprouts may have the enzyme but there are
several problems with this approach:

In laboratory cell culture studies using RAW 264.7 macrophage cells, the genes encoding
the enzymes quinone oxidoreductase (NQO1) and UDP-glucuronosyltransferase1A1 (UGT1A1)
were induced with the combination of actives delivered by Avmacol BR. In vivo studies
demonstrate the genes encoding UGT1A1 and Hemoxygenase-1 (HMOX1) were induced with
the combination of actives delivered by Avmacol BR in Sprague Dawley mammary tissue.
