Assembly 2266
Several people have asked about the size of the Knights of Columbus
and about the locations of our Councils and Assemblies. The Knights are
the world’s largest Catholic men’s organization with over 2.0 million
members. We have Councils and Assemblies located in North, Central
and South America, the Philippines, Poland, the Ukraine, Lithuania, and
South Korea. There are other Councils and Assemblies located on
United States territories such as Guam and Puerto Rico and on U.S.
military installations in other countries. It should be noted that Texas is
the largest jurisdiction in the world with over 100,000 members now that
the Philippines were divided into more than one jurisdiction by the Supreme Office.
The requirements for joining the Knights of Columbus include having
attained the age of 18, being a practicing Catholic (ability to receive the
sacraments), not belong to the Masons and not be a convicted felon
unless you have completed your sentence and parole requirements.
Our Council here at St. Mark includes approximately 325 members.
For more information regarding the Knights, please contact one of our
membership directors, Armando Guerra at 214-272-3537 or Paul Krusac
at 972-516-0659 or our Grand Knight, John Vasquez at 214-394-7106 or
visit our website, www.kofc-6065.org. The website for the Knights of

lifestyle in our family life, at work, with friends, and in society.
Endow is a 10 week Catholic educational program that brings women together to discover
their God-given dignity and to understand their
role in humanizing and transforming society. St. Mark Parish
offers this Fall “Discover your Dignity-Part 1”. The group will
meet Wednesday mornings starting Sept. 9th from 10am-12pm

Room. Please contact Chris Keith (214)708-3702 for more information.

Corporate Communion: August 23
The members of our Council will hold a Corporate Communion at the
9AM Mass on Sunday, August 23. We will meet in the Narthex prior to
Mass and process into the church and participate in the Mass as a
group. Members of the 4th Degree Color Corps will lead the entrance
procession. Following the Mass, members of our Council are hosting our
families to breakfast. All members of the Knights of Columbus, regardless of their home Council, and their families are encouraged to join us.
Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament
The Knights of Columbus participate in the Adoration of the Blessed
Sacrament every Friday, from 8 to 9PM, during the twenty-four hour
adoration of the exposed Blessed Sacrament in the Chapel. During this
dedicated hour of time, we pray, meditate, and reflect on their relationship with Jesus Christ. This hour is not restricted to members of the
Knights but is available for anyone who wishes to worship and adore
Jesus. Please join us. Note: Official Catholic teachings consider the
exposition and adoration of the Blessed Sacrament an important practice
which "stimulates the faithful to an awareness of the marvelous presence
of Christ and is an invitation to spiritual communion with Him.
ALWAYS OUR CHILDREN
Multi-Parish Support Group for families and loved ones of individuals that have a same gender attraction. Based on the pastoral letter of the U.S. Catholic Bishops, the group meets on the
3rd Tuesday of each month, rotating locations at participating
parishes. It provides a supportive environment to understand the
teachings of the Catholic Church while also providing support for
parents and other family members. "Always Our Children" is an
outstretched hand...offering a fresh look at the grace present in
family life and the unfailing mercy of Christ our Lord. For information on meetings or any questions, call St. Mark Family &
Adult Ministry, 972-424-5794.

Rite of Christian Initiation (RCIA)
Are you interested in finding out more about the Catholic faith? Perhaps you’ve considered becoming Catholic and
would like to find out more about the RCIA process. Maybe you were baptized Catholic, but have not received the
Sacraments of Confirmation and/or First Communion. Our RCIA sessions for adults will begin on Sun. Aug. 23, with
a “Come and See”, at 10AM, in the Upper Room #208, of the Smyth Pastoral Center. The “Come and See” is a wonderful opportunity to ask questions and to find out more about the RCIA process.
Each year our parish needs sponsor/companions for men and women who are interested in becoming Catholic. To find out more
about this valuable ministry, call John Lemburg at 214-475-5416 or Debbie Betz at the Parish Office 972-423-4715. A sponsor training/meeting will be scheduled in late August or early September for those interested in being sponsors.
