Dear Austin Baptist Family of Faith:
I’m the furthest thing from an expert on construction that you will ever find, but even I know the necessity of a strong foundation. As followers of
Christ, we have a strong, stable, and solid foundation in the Son of God and the Word of God. Paul writes in 1 Corinthians 3:11, “For no one can lay
any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ.” Jesus Himself, in Luke 6:46-48, indicated that the wise person is the one who
builds his life on His teachings. At Austin Baptist Church, we devote our ministry to worshiping and serving the Son of God and learning and following the teachings in the Word of God. Thus, our spiritual foundation is secure.
Of course, the strength and growth of our church is partly a reflection of the vision, resolve, and passion of its founding members. In that respect as
well, our family of faith continues to build on a strong foundation. The founders of Austin Baptist Church were men and women of spiritual maturity
with a willingness to do whatever it takes to see our church blossom into all that it can be for God’s glory. The vast majority of those founding members remain vitally involved in our ministry.
Thus, as we anticipate the day when foundations will be poured, we appreciate and celebrate the strong spiritual foundation upon which our family of
faith has been established. Because our plans provide additional Bible-teaching, fellowship, and ministry space for everyone from newborns to senior
adults, this new construction enables us to celebrate our glorious past and embrace our exciting future. It is significant that our vision statement starts
off like this: “To build a family of devoted followers of Christ...” In building on a strong foundation, we are facilitating the pursuit of that vision.
Together, people of all ages who make up the great family of faith known as
Austin Baptist Church are laying a foundation for generations to come so that not only now,
but until Jesus returns, people in our area will be introduced to the church’s one foundation,
Jesus Christ our Lord.
Gratefully His/Joyfully Yours,
Gary Dyer, Pastor
John 3:30

Dear Church Family,
We have had numerous challenging opportunities in our 7½ year existence as Austin Baptist Church. Always God has provided through His people
as we have sought to fulfill His Great Commission in Austin and beyond. Initially, we outgrew temporary space at The Sanctuary. It seemed as though
no one wanted to lease to a start-up church, but God provided. We quickly outgrew our first leased space at Waterford Centre and God provided more
meeting areas at that location. It was always our desire to put down permanent roots and own our building. The task of raising adequate funds to do
that and pay over $700,000 a year in rent seemed impossible. Once again, God provided through his people and, in a few short months, $2.5 million
was raised.
Because of God’s provision, we built our current home at the Ribelin Ranch site. People of all ages and life-stages have since come to make Austin
Baptist Church their church home. Many of those are young families with children. God has provided an incredible staff and a plethora of incredible
Bible study teachers and leaders. To accommodate and minister to all the people God has brought to Austin Baptist Church, we once again need more
space.
God has immeasurably blessed this group of believers. We have the opportunity and responsibility to provide sufficient quality space for our growing
congregation. Please join us in praying, giving, and serving as we minister to people of all ages. We desire to start building in late spring, but that will
call for all of our people to participate in the way God leads them. We are confident that God will continue to provide as we all join together to “Build
on a Strong Foundation.”
Sincerely,
Randy FergusonJanis LoukasTom StacyWes Walters

• Thursday, July 12, 2007. Eighty people met at Austin Baptist Association; voted to call themselves the True Life Group. Elected a
13-member Executive Committee, chaired by Wayne McDonald.
• Sunday, July 22, 2007. First worship service held at Austin Baptist
Association. Lewis Timberlake delivered the message. More than
170 people overflowed the space.
• Sunday, July 29, 2007. Second worship service held in the facilities
of The Sanctuary. This was arranged with the help of Wayne McDonald and Dr. Ralph Smith. Dr. Smith preached, and our church
overflowed the space again. It was apparent The Sanctuary would be
a temporary location.
• Wednesday, September 5, 2007. A business meeting was held at the
Austin Baptist Association, and the name Austin Baptist Church was
chosen as the name of the new congregation. Also, the Executive
Committee was given authority to negotiate a lease on 34,000 square
feet of space at Waterford Centre Boulevard.
• Sunday, November 4, 2007. First meeting in the Waterford Centre
facility. In 16 weeks, the church had grown from 80 people to a fully
functioning church of almost 400 members, and no staff!
• Easter Sunday, April 4, 2010. Dr. Gary Dyer begins his ministry as
Senior Pastor of Austin Baptist Church.
• December 14, 2010. Purchase of 35 acres at Ribelin Ranch Drive.
• May 29, 2011. Groundbreaking Celebration at the Ribelin Ranch
Drive property.
• September 9, 2012. First Sunday in the new facility at Ribelin Ranch
Drive. Record attendance of 1,417 in worship.
• Record-breaking attendance at Easter 2013 (1,571) and Easter 2014
(1,616).
• Over 500 members have joined Austin Baptist Church since we
moved to our new facility.
• Many partnerships with the community have been created: Four
Points Chamber of Commerce, neighborhood associations, Leander
ISD schools.
• Creative programs for children and youth have been met with a great
response, requiring plans for additional space in 2016.
• Sunday, March 2, 2008. First Personnel Committee called Dr. David
Procter as Executive Pastor.
...built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus as the chief cornerstone.
In Him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord.
And in Him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit.

• Double the capacity for preschoolers by renovating the children’s section of the present building to make it usable for our
ever-growing number of preschoolers.
• Over 21,000 square feet of new Bible teaching space for adults.
• Large gathering area for fellowship, children’s worship, etc.
• New meeting place for our largest Bible Fellowship Group, the Lamplighters.
• Additional Student Ministry meeting space for Bible study and worship.
• Parking for an additional 188 vehicles.
• An outdoor playground.
Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.
The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall,
because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice
is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew
and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.

What are we preparing to build and why do we need it?
The project, in its entirety, will consist of two buildings. The structure
to be built to the east of our present facility will be a two-story building designed to provide Bible teaching space for adults and school-aged
children. The present space occupied by school-aged children will be
retrofitted to accommodate preschool classrooms. The other part of the
project is a building to provide for our largest Bible Fellowship Group,
Lamplighters. This structure will eventually serve as the foyer for a future
worship center and also will provide a place larger than our present Great
Hall for major banquets and special events. It will be located south of
our main lobby area between the present building and Highway 2222.
At present, we have exhausted our available space for Bible-teaching.
Providing additional classrooms for teaching God’s Word will enable us to
continue to house the people who are looking for a church that provides
on-campus Bible Fellowship Groups.
How will commitments be made?
Because we respect your ability to make prayerful and wise decisions, we
have made the deliberate choice to avoid high-pressure tactics. You have
received the commitment card and envelope with this brochure. You may
mail your commitment card to the church or leave it with the business
office. If you would like for a representative of the “Building on a Strong
Foundation” campaign leadership team to visit with you personally about
your involvement, feel free to contact the church office at 512.491.9600
and request such a visit. We will assist you in whatever way you desire.
Recognizing how important this effort is to the faith family of Austin
Baptist Church, we long for this effort to be fulfilling for you as well as to
all others in our church family.
What is the project - in its entirety - going to cost?
Present estimates are between $9 million and $10 million for the completion of the entire project.
How much financial support for the project are we trying to raise and what is our plan for doing so?
Are the renderings shown in this brochure exact The ultimate goal is to raise approximately 2/3 of the project cost, or
representations of the new construction?
$6 million over three years. Our more immediate goal is to raise $3.5
million by April 1, 2015. Raising $3.5 million by April 1 will ensure we
can complete the project in its entirety. Each family in our church will be
encouraged to seek the Lord as to their part in this important endeavor.
If we all do what we can, the ultimate goal can be achieved.
Remember that contributions received by April 1, 2015, will help verify
our ability to complete the entire project; but all gifts received over the
three year period will be applied to “Building on a Strong Foundation.”
No. These renderings are projected to be quite close to the “finished
product.” We anticipate that most of the changes will be merely cosmetic.
If major adjustments are deemed necessary, the church will be fully informed and given input on such changes.
When do the commitments start?
You can begin making contributions immediately. For those who commit
over three years, the commitments will go through the early part of 2018.
Because of the opportunity to reduce finance costs and verify our ability
to complete the entire project, contributions that are received early on
during the campaign are advantageous.
13
Should I divide my present giving between the general budget and the “Building on a Strong Foundation” campaign?
It is important that this be an “above and beyond” commitment. If we
take from our present giving to the general ministries budget, we hamper
our local church ministries and our missions giving. It is vital that these
ministries remain strong and continue to be fully supported.
I’m not sure what I can give will matter.
This campaign is specifically designed so that everyone can do something.
No gift is too small to count. No gift is so large that it diminishes the value
of other gifts. If each one does what he/she can, then victory is assured.
The chart shown in this brochure helps show that regular giving to the
“Building on a Strong Foundation” campaign can result in very significant
support.
How can I make sure that my gifts will be applied to the
“Building on a Strong Foundation” capital fund?
All contributions marked “Building on a Strong Foundation” will be
applied in full to this capital campaign. Our church envelopes have now
been revised to assist you. If you prefer to give online, you may now
designate your contribution to “Building on a Strong Foundation.” The
quarterly statements sent out to the church membership will immediately
begin to specify “Building on a Strong Foundation” contributions.
Will there be an event designed to inform the entire church
family about “Building on a Strong Foundation” and celebrate the glorious things God is doing in and through
our church?
Yes. On Sunday evening, March 8, 2015, there will be a church-wide
banquet that promises to be a great evening of fellowship, worship, and
inspiration. At that banquet, we will learn how the campaign is progressing, ways that every church member can be involved, and things being
done to prepare for our expansion. Special plans are already in progress
to insure that the “Building on a Strong Foundation” banquet is one of the
highlights of our church’s history.
Will my commitment constitute a permanent investment?
Most definitely. The buildings themselves can last several generations; but
the evangelizing of souls that will take place in the buildings, the hearts
and homes that will be ministered to in the buildings, the bonds of fellowship that will be formed in the buildings, and the commitments to missions and ministry made in the buildings...those are things that have an
eternal value.
George W. Carroll, a wealthy Texas philanthropist many years ago, gave
large sums to Christian causes. After he had lost considerable wealth in a
time of drastic economic downturn, he was viewing a building he helped
construct. Someone said, “Aren’t you sorry you gave all that money
away?” He answered, “No, because all I kept for myself is lost, and only
that which I gave away has been preserved.” Yes, when other things in life
are gone, that which we have invested in Christ’s cause will continue to
flourish and bear fruit.
By the grace God has given me, I laid a foundation as a wise builder, and someone else is building on it.
But each one should build with care.
For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ.

God Builds No Churches
God builds no churches. By His plan
That labor has been left to man.
No spires miraculously arise;
No little mission from the skies
Falls on the bleak and barren place
To be a source of strength and grace.
The humblest church demands its price
In human toil and sacrifice.
Men call the church the House of God
Toward which the toil-stained pilgrims trod
In search of strength and rest and hope,
As blindly through life’s mists they grope.
And there God dwells, but it is man
Who builds that House, and draws its plan;
Pays for the mortar and the stone
That none need seek for God alone.

The humblest spire in mortal ken
Where God abides was built by men.
And if the church is still to grow,
Is still the light of hope to throw
Across the valley of despair,
Men must still build God’s House of Prayer
God sends no churches from the skies;
Out of the hearts they must arise.
