Keep each of these in prayer daily as they go show God’s love.
Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son,
and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you:
and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

MULTIFOCUS MISSION GROUP BECOMES THE CHARLOTTE BRUNSON CIRCLE
The Multifocus Mission Group held its first meeting of the new church year on Wednesday, September 2nd. By
unanimous vote, the name of the group was changed to the Charlotte Brunson Circle.
President Janie Sims presided, Dorothy Henry served as treasurer, and Faye Hayes presented the program and a
time of devotion and prayer for our missionaries having birthdays on Sept. 2.
Cards will be sent to several church members. A donation will be made to the North Carolina Baptist State Mission
Offering.
Debra Yates volunteered to present the program at the October meeting (first Weds. in Oct., 10:30 AM, Jimmy
Stricklin’s Sunday School Classroom). She also encouraged every member of the Circle to volunteer to do a
program in the months to come.
P. S. Clara Strickland e-mailed Charlotte’s granddaughter, Meredith, a missionary in Hawaii, telling her of the new
name of the Multifocus Mission Group. Her reply: “When I read your e-mail it brought tears to my eyes. What an
honor to have the ladies’ mission group named after my sweet Memaw! I know she would have been humbled and
probably would have insisted you not do that. But I think that it’s perfect. I know her legacy will live on through all
those who knew her.”
CHAIR VOLLEYBALL IS BEGUN FOR FUN AND EXERCISE
The first practice of the LOVE CLUB chair volley ball players was Thursday afternoon, September 3rd, for an
introduction to the game, a review of the rules and regulations, and a time of practice.
Led by Coach Vickie Weatherly, the ten players enjoyed a time of fun and fellowship! Believe it or not, the seniors
actually improved as they tried to hit the beach ball (the senior volley ball) over the net WITHOUT GETTING OUT
OF THEIR CHAIRS (THE HARDEST PART OF THE GAME).
Coach Weatherly has planned to start a Chair Volley Ball group for some time –selecting and ordering all needed
equipment and promoting the game through many announcements and articles in the church bulletins and Lights
On and even a Call ‘em All reminder the day of the initial meeting.
Prior to the 3:00 PM meeting, Coach Weatherly and her husband Bob set up the net, marked the boundary lines
and placed the chairs.
Attending this charter meeting, in addition to Coach Weatherly were Lynn Blake, Jean Capps, Peggy Farmer, Lillie
Lammonds, Lena McLean, Clara Strickland, Millie Vickers, Bob Weatherly. Pastor Chris joined the group briefly
and quickly energized his team with shouts of encouragement and praise.
Those wishing to play this game will meet first and third Thursdays at 3:00 PM in the Gym. Please come! More
players are needed. One does not need to be a LOVE CLUB member to play.

Honduras Mission Team
Just a few weeks from now our mission team will leave for Honduras (Oct. 12). They will leave Hamlet in the
middle of the night for an early flight from Raleigh and will arrive in Tegucigalpa at mid day. At the airport in
Honduras, they will be met by Mike and Ginger Greene who are the full- time missionaries supported by N.C.
Baptist Men. The team will drive south to the town of Choluteca to the mission house where they will be housed
for the next five days. Early the next morning (Oct. 13) they will begin work building a house for a needy family in
a nearby village. On Sunday, Oct. 18, they will worship in the village where they have been working. Pastor Chris
may preach the sermon. The team will arrive back in Hamlet late on the 20th.
Thank you for your support of this mission team. Please continue to pray for its success.
L.O.V.E. CLUB BEGINS TO MEET AGAIN
The L.O.V.E. Club met Wednesday, September 9, for the first meeting of the 2015-16 church year. Officers are
President – Debra Yates; Vice-President – Vickie Weatherly; Secretary-Treasurer- Janie Sims.
President Debra Yates presided. She recognized and thanked members who had assisted her in last year’s LOVE
Club work and activities: Vickie Weatherly – Vice-President; Frances Altman – Chairman of the Soup Kitchen
Project; Millie Vickers – travel plans; and Clara Strickland – writer of LOVE Club articles for the church newsletters
and assisted in selecting programs for monthly meetings.
Richmond County Sheriff Clemmons provided the program by answering a variety of questions about law
enforcement in Richmond County. He and his accompanying deputy were invited to eat lunch with the group but
they had other commitments and could not stay for lunch. Thanks go to Pat Freeman and staff for the delicious,
free lunch!
Judy Hair discussed travel ideas for the Club. The group will travel to Northwood Temple in Fayetteville on
Thursday, Oct 15, for the annual dinner theater. Deadline for paying the $22.00 for each person to Debra Yates or
Judy Hair is Thursday, October 1.
As usual President Yates presented each attendee with a “little gift.” In addition, she also gave “extra” gifts to
those named above as her assistants last year.
A separate article appears elsewhere in this newsletter regarding the new Volley Ball players. This group will meet
first and third Thursdays at 3:00 PM in the Gym.
A heartfelt “thank you” to Pastor Chris for relaying my need to the Brotherhood men (namely: Jimmy
Stricklin, Wayne Fuller, Bill Terry and Donnie Covington) who constructed a ramp that makes it
easier for me to get on and off my porch with my walker. I thoroughly enjoyed the several hours of
watching them do a great job. The fellowship was wonderful. A picture of my ramp has been well
circulated on Facebook so they may get more ramp orders.
Also, thank you for the prayers, visits, phone calls, cards, and other expressions of concern during my stay
in the hospital the last week in August due to two mini strokes that left no lasting effects. It is great being a
member of the Second Baptist family. I love you all.
