About 2-3 ounces Bernat Baby Sport yarn for hat
About 16 yards each of several colors of any sport weight
yarn for flowers
Crochet hooks size F (3.75 mm) and E (3.5 mm)
Matching 1” flat button
Needle & thread
Gauge:
Rounds 1-4 = 3" for size S; Rounds 1-4 = 3 1/4" for size M;
Rounds 1-4 = 3 1/2" for size L
Finished size: Infant size S (3-6months); infant size M (9-12
months); infant size L (18-24 months)

Using size F hook and hat yarn, ch 5; join with a sl st in the
first ch to form a ring.
Round 1: Ch 3 to count as the first dc work 11 (13, 15) more
dc in the ring; join with a sl st in the top of the beginning ch 3.

Round 2: Ch 1, sc in the same st as joining, 3 dc in the next
dc, (sc in the next dc, 3 dc in the next dc) 5 (6,7) times; join
with a sl st in the first sc.
Round 3: Ch 3 to count as the first dc, dc in the same st as
joining, skip next dc, sc in the next dc, skip next dc, (3 dc in
the next sc, skip next dc, sc in the next dc, skip next dc) 5 (6,
7) times, dc in the same st as the first dc; join with a sl st in
the top of the beginning ch 3.
Round 4: Ch 3 to count as the first dc, dc in the same st as
joining, sc in the next dc, 3 dc in the next sc, sc in the next dc,

Round 6: Ch 3 to count as the first dc, dc in the same st as
joining, skip next dc, sc in the next dc, skip next dc, (3 dc in
the next sc, skip next dc, sc in the next dc, skip next dc) 11 (13,
15) times, dc in the same st as the first dc; join with a sl st in
the top of the beginning ch 3.
Optional edging: (Sl st in the next st, ch 1) around the entire piece; join with a sl st in the first sl st. Fasten off. Weave
in ends.
Irish Rose
Rounds 7-8: Repeat rounds 5-6.

Using size E hook with any color sport weight yarn, ch 12, being careful not to twist the chain, join with a sl st in the first ch
to form a ring. Do not close the ring. This serves as the buttonhole for the flower.
Round 7: (Ch 1, 7 dc in the next ch-5 loop, ch 1, sl st in the
next bpdc) 5 times, ch 1, 7 dc in the next ch-5 loop, ch 1; join
with a sl st in the joining sl st. (6 petals) Fasten off. Weave in
ends.
Round 1: Ch 1, sc in each ch around; join with a sl st in the
first sc. (12 sc)
Finishing
Round 2: Ch 1, sc in the same st as joining, ch 3, skip next sc,
(sc in the next sc, ch 3, skip next sc) 5 times; join with a sl st in
the first sc. (6 ch-3 loops)
Position flower on hat. Mark through the center of the flower
for button placement. Remove flower and sew button to hat.
Button flower on hat. Crochet several different colors of
flowers...they are interchangeable to match any outfit!
Round 3: (Ch 1, 5 dc in the next ch-3 loop, ch 1, sl st in the
next sc) 5 times, ch 1, 5 dc in the next ch-3 loop, ch 1; join with
a sl st in the joining sl st. (6 petals)
