company for Sonabank, announced today that net income for the quarter ended June 30, 2015 was $2.5 million
and $4.5 million for the first half of 2015. That compares to $1.8 million and $3.4 million for the three and six
months ended June 30, 2014.
The Board of Directors declared a dividend of $.08 per share payable August 21, 2015 to shareholders of record
on August 10, 2015. This was Southern National’s fifteenth consecutive quarterly dividend. Based on SONA’s
average stock price for the quarter ended June 30, 2015, that is an annualized dividend yield of 2.72%.
Flunked retirement, that is! The American Banker published
an article about Banking Power Couples. Roderick Porter
and Georgia Derrico have founded and run two banks together and they show no signs of slowing down. This power
couple started Southern Financial in 1986 and after turning
it into a $1.1 Billion-asset Institution. Southern Financial
Bank was sold to Provident in 2004. They were planning on
a relaxing retirement from banking and maybe even some
travel between Virginia and their second home, Italy...but
they flunked retirement.

Less than a year later, they founded Sonabank. We are all happy that Rod and Georgia came back because
Sonabank is now a $1 Billion dollar bank with 23 branches and still growing. Guess that’s what happens when
you flunk retirement!
Time flies! August was the one year anniversary of the Sona
merger with Prince George’s Federal Savings Bank. Since the
merger, we’ve gotten to know many of PG’s excellent clients.
PG’s staff is second to none and Hal Rich, Kim Freeland, Leslie
Stanley and all of the PG employees have made great additions
to the Sonabank family.

Also, in August of 2014, we opened our Owings Branch. Joan
Knopp, our manager at the Owings branch, continues to grow
the branch in the community and welcome new clients.

The Chamber event was partnered with Direct Connect. Our goal was to address the needs of our businesses to ensure that they are prepared and protected for the October 1st, 2015 Security Mandates.

We invited our Direct Connect representatives to speak on the upcoming
changes and answer any questions. There were more than 30 attendees including Jossie Arroyo, Devon Porter and Cynthia Cotto.
Many chamber members were present including Bruce Jennings, Baruch Gedalia and Simon Turner. Everyone found the presentation very informative. It
was a fantastic turn out.

On June 20, 2015 Sona celebrated its annual summer picnic. Employees and their families were invited to enjoy a Fiesta Themed party with
food and fun. There was a clown, face painting, pool, bounce house, games, piñata and pony rides for the kids. The picnic was highlighted
with live music from the Casey McCue Band. This annual event brings colleagues and their families out to Marblehead Farm to enjoy and
get to know one another. As Sona continues to grow, we feel that it’s important to give the employees the opportunity to get to know each
other outside of work and keep our small bank family atmosphere strong.

BK Miller was started in 1913 as a general store in Clinton, Maryland by Blossie Keuberth Miller. Through hard work and determination, he saved money to open a general store to serve his community,
which had come upon hard times.
In the early 1940s, BK Miller became a developer in Clinton, building the town church, doctor's office, post office and super market.
His business also expanded to wholesaling products to other markets
in the area--the products ranged from farm and building supplies to
groceries. Eventually, with the rise of chain grocery stores, BK Miller's changed from a super market to a super liquor store. In response
to their customer’s demand for fine meat and poultry, they continued
to sell those products in addition to beverages.
BK Miller Meats & Liquors, Inc is a thriving family owned business
that has become a landmark in Clinton. While being highly successful, they still maintain that local General Store feel that has kept them
in business for over 100 years. Customers can find everything they need right in the store just as their families had generations before.
While changing times may have forced the businesses to operate independently, the Millers continue to be a very close knit family. This
family bond is exactly why BK Miller Company, Inc and BK Miller Meats & Liquors, Inc will continue to thrive for another 100 years.
The Byrne Gallery is an amazing gallery in Middleburg, VA. Bill and Susan Byrne are siblings
with a passion for art. They offer services for corporate and individual clients. They specialize in
art acquisition, collection development, art exhibitions, complex art installation, museum-quality
restorations, repairs and services, appraisals and evaluations, commissioned art work in all media,
expert art relocation services and custom framing. Art can mean different things to different people and The Byrne Gallery has something for everyone. Both Bill and Susan are fantastic and fun
people who make you feel comfortable from the moment you step through the door. It’s not just a
gallery...it’s an experience! They often hold exhibitions and you can meet with your favorite artist
and discuss their work. It’s fantastic!

is from 5-8pm. The exhibition begins on November 4th and continues through the end of 2015.

When a new branch employee starts working at Sonabank, one of the first smiling faces that they see is that
of Tia Pham, our McLean branch manager. All of our northern branch employees do their on-the-job training
at our McLean branch, and she even ‘trains the trainers’ so that they can teach others. Tia is not only a great
teacher, but an excellent branch manager as well. Tia has worked in the banking industry for the past 25
years, four of which were with Southern Financial Bank (Sonabank’s predecessor), and the last five at
Sonabank. She enjoys meeting new clients and being able to assist them with their financial goals. Her position as manager of one of Sonabank’s busiest branches allows her to meet professionals of different industries. Sonabank’s wide variety of products and services allows her to provide everything our clients need in
one place. Helping clients and training employees are the most satisfying parts of her job, and easily the most
rewarding part of working with Sonabank. Congratulations Tia on being our employee of the quarter, keep up
