Newport, RI
The Healing Co-Operative has supported thousands of women
and family members since opening our doors here in Middletown nearly 9 years ago. We’ve grown in ways we imagined and
in ways we had not.
And now, in an effort to keep up with our growth, we’ve put together a wish list which you will read about on the following
pages. With the addition of Guest Cottages and more sleeping
spaces, we will be able to accommodate more women during our
Renewal Retreats for women with cancer. Another important
addition would be a dedicated space for yoga, meditation and
movement therapies—the Yoga Yurt.
We owe you, our community, a heart full of thanks as together
you have helped us raise over $593,707 over the past eight years.
Those funds are what have moved us forward each year making
it possible for us to continue the important programs for women
and their families as they make their way through the difficult,
and often times confusing, diagnosis of cancer. We are calling on
your help with the task of raising $280,000 in funds needed to
accomplish this next important phase of our growth here on
Mitchell’s Lane where women and families have left thousands
of footsteps in our 80 foot meditation/prayer labyrinth, carried
buckets full of wild blueberries from the field and cut nearly
2,000 bouquets of flowers from our large Cutting Garden. We
know we can do this with your help and we look forward to
working with you, our community.
With Gratitude,

I break off a fragment to send you. Please take this grain of hope so that mine won’t shrink.
Please share your fragment so that yours will grow. Only so, by division, will hope increase,
like a clump of irises, which will cease to flower unless you distribute the
clustered roots, unlikely source—clumsy and earth-covered—of grace.” - D. Levertov
