Science of Baseball
Twenty students participated in a pilot
program called Science of Baseball. Our
Oak Grove School Education Foundation
(OGSEF) funded the project which ties
math and science skills to the sport of
baseball. Gary Bennett and his staff of
Slammers baseball, joined the class for
5 Fridays to help deliver the instruction.
The lessons included: Baseball Statistics,
Nutrition for Peak Performance, Weight
Shifting for Hitters, Reaction Time and
Trajectory of Ball Flight. We hope to
continue this program next year as well

Eagle Breakfast
There was an oversight
last week in reporting
on the success of the
Oak Grove Chess Team
participants in the 55th
Kumbaya Scholastic
Chess Tournament on
May 18th. Soren Sethi,
a 1st grader, played with
significant success and
brought home the 1st
Grade and under 1st
PLACE INDIVIDUAL
TROPHY for himself in
the Non-Rated Section. That section allows players from K-8th grade to
participate and Soren did wonderfully. He too, together
with Michael Berner and Nikhil Patel represented the
best in the students at Oak Grove. If you see them in
the halls -- give them a High Five!
We held our 2nd Eagle Breakfast on Wednesday, May
22nd. Students were chosen by the Oak Grove staff
and recognized for displaying character traits such as
trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring
and citizenship. Thank you to all of these students for
displaying such fine examples of character.

meeting of this school year. We will be voting on
the bylaws, the budget and the slate for the 20132014 school year. We are thrilled to have so many
volunteers for next year’s committees!
We Love Our Volunteers!
Thank you to all who helped make
the OGS graduation dance a huge
hit! Our 2013 graduates boarded the
USS Eagles via a gang-plank (built by
Barry Meyer) and cruised through the
night, dining in an elegant dining room
complete with chandeliers, formal place settings and a
beautiful spiral staircase. After a formal photo was taken
of each kid they danced through the night on the lido
deck - poolside! The kids also had fun donning props
in a photo booth and enjoying an ice cream sundae bar
and a huge selection of desserts.

First Grade Goes CAMPING!
First Grade celebrated meeting (and
exceeding) their reading goal by
camping out at school! Over the
course of 2 months, over 6,500 were
read! Tents were pitched, songs were
sung, games were played and s’mores
were eaten! It was a grand time!
