The UniPak™ UP475 converts a DC current or voltage signal to a proportional, linear frequency signal providing 1500 Vac
isolation between the frequency source, the dc output and power to the UP475. A typical application is totalizing
applications, where the total number of pulses counted in a given time period represents the time integral of the DC input.
If, for example, the input represents a flow in gallons per hour, then the time integral of this flow signal (total count) will
represent total gallons. The input of the UP475 can supply voltage for a 2-wire current loop, up to 20 V dc. There are two
output choices, an npn open collector or a reed relay. The open collector provides 30 V dc, up to 300 mA. The relay is rated
for 30 V ac or dc and 100 mA. The open collector output can be used to drive electronic counters or other high speed inputs.
The relay can be used to drive electromechanical counters when connected to an external AC or DC power source. The
unsurpassed flexibility means that one model can meet many application requirements.
Signal Conditioning flexibility and use made simple from ioSelect, powered by Seneca (Z104).

The reed-relay output can only be
used with frequencies below 40
12 Hz. The reed-relay output is
switched on by setting DIP switch
10 1 of the RANGE switch to ON.
The transistor output is always on.

Set the output frequency: Requires a calibrated voltmeter.
The meter is connected to terminals 5 (+) and 1 (-) and set to
a 10 V scale.
10 × P × K
The desired output is calculated by the formula: Vout =
FS
Where P = pulses /hour,
K is the constant on the UP475 label &
FS is the full scale of the range selected in the RANGE SWITCH
table. Set the INPUT SWITCH to the “Configuration” switch
INPUT SWITCH
settings. Use the front mounted potentiometer to adjust

output to the desired level.
0-20 mA
Once the output range is set the input is configured by
setting the INPUT SWITCH and then wiring to the designated
input terminals for the input used.
Example: P = 90 p/h (pulses per hour). The voltage should be
set to: (10 x 90 x 1.05) /137.33 = 6.881 V.

Installation
The UniPak™ UP475 is designed to be mounted on 35 mm DIN rail. Adequate ventilation may be needed to ensure
optimal operating conditions. Avoid mounting modules over devices that generate heat. If operating at the high end of
the temperature specifications (near 50 °C/ 125 °F) it may be necessary to separate the modules by at least 5 mm (0.2 in).
Other Conditions that may Contribute to High Operational Temperature:
· High power voltage (> 30 Vdc / > 26 Vac)
· Powering an input sensor and one output consistently at a high output level
Power supply upper limits must not be exceeded. Excessive power level will result in damage to the module.
