The inaugural Hettler Cup, a Ryder Cupstyle match between Rawls Men’s Golf Assn.
and Lakeridge MGA, went to Lakeridge 36-24
as the two-day event closed Sunday at the
Rawls Course.
LRMGA won Saturday’s partnership
matches at Lakeridge, 13-7, and claimed the
trophy sponsored by Hettler Insurance with a
closing 23-17 win in singles at the Rawls
Course.
The final showed the pairings were competitive in most cases, with the first flight
ending up in a 7.5 to 7.5 tie. The other flights
were won by Lakeridge, 9 to 6 in the second;
8.5 to 6.5 in the third; and 11-4 in the senior
division. Officials from both MGA’s said plans
call for an annual event.
