Railside Golf Club // Newsletter / may 2014
Dear Railside family,
I’m writing this on a Sunday afternoon. The air is crisp, but the sun is out, and there’s finally golfers enjoying the course after
a long, long winter. The golf season has begun. Our staff has a lot planned in the coming month, which you can read about in
the pages below, but first let me say thanks:
There was an excellent showing (and beautiful weather) at our Easter Brunch a few weekends ago. To all those who made that
day special, thank you. Our staff worked very hard to make that day a success, and it was certainly a pleasure serving you and
your families. I look forward to seeing you again next Sunday on Mother’s Day!
Both Ladies’ and Men’s League kicked off in April. There are a handful of new folks who have joined us, and we’re very excited
about their participation. Thanks for coming out! And thanks to our grounds crew and golf staff for their hard work preparing
for the golf season this year. It wasn’t easy dealing with our frozen tundra!
And finally, thanks to our new members. It’s great to have you on board and part of the Railside family. We’re glad you’ve
chosen this community and these people. We look forward to getting to know you in the coming months and years.
Best,
FROM THE PRO
Railside friends,
At long last it’s May, and with May comes a lot of great golf activities (and warmer
weather…hopefully). A few highlights below:
• Our first Couple’s event is scheduled for Friday, May 9, with the GAM Scramble
following on May 17. Our May 23 Couple’s event will not be “Greener on the Grill” as
originally planned. This has been postponed. Dave and Addie will be busy marrying off
their daughter that weekend, so Chef Mike is going to step in with a great selection of
food items that will be served on the course.
• Dads, don’t forget Mother’s Day is coming up on Sunday. If you need gift ideas, come see us in the Pro
Shop. Ladies’ Bobi Maxi skirts, infinity scarves, our ever-popular Lole tunic tops, and Croc golf shoes are in
stock and on sale. Plus, we’ve got new drivers, irons, and wedges (for you and the mothers in your lives).
• The Pro Shop is also continuing our Trade-In Program. We’ll give you fair market value for your old clubs,
which you can apply to your new clubs this spring. Currently we carry Ping, Titleist, Cobra, Adams, Nike, and
Cleveland clubs. We also have accounts for Taylor Made, Callaway, and Mizuno. Custom fitting is the best
option when it comes to buying new clubs, and Matt and I are well trained in how to maximize your potential
distance, while minimizing your unwanted spin.
• Some exciting news for Railside and our Juniors. Augusta National, the PGA of America, and the USGA
are hosting several regional “Drive, Chip, and Putt” competitions this summer. Those who qualify during
the regional competitions will have the opportunity to go to the Masters next April and to compete in the
championship. Railside is hosting our local event. To register your son or daughter, visit Drive, Chip, & Putt
Registration. Remember, we’re also accepting registrations for our Junior Golf Program this summer. Deadline is
May 30.
Finally, one house-keeping note: please remember to turn your golf score into the Pro Shop after each round.
We enter scores daily and need accurate information on each card. Please include your first and last name,
the date, and the tees you played from.
Cheers and see you at the Club!
Best,
Sam
