Dear Parents
Principal’s Report
Out of School Hours Care
Our OSHC Program is something we are really proud of at Drouin South Primary School. Casey
Middleton and her team Courtney, Ashley and Brooke do a great job providing students that use
this service with a variety of interesting and engaging activities that promote curiosity, cooperation
and learning. Last night Casey and the team celebrated the end of Term 2 with a Mad Hatter’s Tea
Party. Everyone was dressed in their craziest best and enjoyed sharing an array of weird and
wonderful treats while playing games such as “Pin the Grin” on the Cheshire Cat. Our OSHC
program is open from 7.00am on school days and then after school is open until 6.00pm. It is
great that working parents or any other parents choosing to use the service know that their children
are in great hands. Next term there will be a slight price increase to $12 per session which still
represents great value for a program of this quality.
Half Yearly Reports
Over the past week I have had the pleasure of reading the half-yearly reports for all students. It
has been a very insightful experience for me to see how every individual students has been
progressing with their learning over the past six months. It is particularly pleasing to see how
many students put their best effort into their learning and those who show resilience and
persistence when tasks become challenging. Congratulations to all students on their first half-year
of learning and also a big thank you to teachers for their commitment to providing the opportunities
for all children to develop their learning so far this year.
Working Bee
A very successful Working Bee was held last Sunday with a number of families in attendance to lend
a hand. We managed to do a lot of pruning and removal of older overgrown plants from the front
gardens as well as spreading some mulch and generally tidying up. Of course I lured everyone in
with the promise of a BBQ lunch and then forgot to organise the sausages!! A big thank you to all
who attended and helped out with power tools, trucks, trailers and elbow grease!!
Red Nose Day
Thank you to all who supported Red Nose Day by wearing Red and making a donation.
Facebook
A reminder that our Facebook page is now up and running and that we are posting messages as
regularly as possible. If you haven’t got on board yet, please find the Drouin South Primary School
page and “LIKE” us to be kept in the loop.
Sovereign Hill Camp
The final costing for Sovereign Hill Camp has been calculated at $235. Notes have been sent home
with all campers this week. Camp will take place on 1st, 2nd and 3rd of August for students in
Years 4-6.
Term Break
Thank you to everyone for your support of Drouin South Primary School this term. It is great to be
part of a school with such a supportive and vibrant school community. Please enjoy the next two
weeks and I look forward to seeing everybody back safe and rested on Monday 11th July.

“Hi Drouin South PS Community! Next term the school will be participating in and facilitating the
Jump Rope For Heart Program/Fundraiser. This time there is a very handy and convenient way of
getting sponsors and raising funds for this fantastic cause. Please take the time to visit the
website (see below), search for Drouin South PS and sign up! There are great incentives to be a
part of this wonderful opportunity to raise awareness in our children and funds for this
organisation. Hard copies of forms and further information will still be sent out at the beginning of
next term. Stay tuned! I am looking forward to the whole community getting behind this and
making it our most successful one we’ve ever done! Thanks.”
