¿WHY LIMA?
Lima is the capital city of the Peruvian Republic. It is located at the central coast of the
country on the banks of Pacific Ocean forming an extensive and populous urban area.
It has a soft and cool climate all year due to its proximity to the beaches and lack of
rain.
The City of Kings, as is known for its hierarchy and history has a particular beauty that
comes from the combination of its history, its traditions, its culture and its people.
Lima is a modern city full of places to discover, with exquisite cuisine, excellent
infrastructure and large entertainment centers, that is why it is considered the main
political, cultural, financial and commercial center of the country. With over 8 million
people, Lima is the fifth in the most populated cities in Latin America and the
Caribbean and is one of the thirty most populous urban areas in the world.

220V/60 Hz, two outputs (flat or round) ungrounded. The 110 volts AC is available
in most 4 and 5 stars hotels.
Currency
The official currency of Peru is the Nuevo Sol (S /.) whose unit is divided into 100
cents. There are bills in the following denominations: S/.10.00, S/.20.00, S /. 50.00,
S /. 100.00 and S/.200.00. There are coins with the following denominations:
S/.5.00, S/.2.00, S/.1.00, S/.0.50, S/.0.20, S/.0.10, S/.0.05 and S/.0.01
SHOPPING
Credit Cards:
In the majority of commercial establishments it is accept payment with the most
important credit cards: Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Diners.
Shops and Banks
Most banks are open from Monday to Friday between 09:00 am and 05:30 pm and
some banks also attend Saturday noon. Most commercial establishments are open
from Monday to Saturday between 10:00 am and 08:00 pm. In case of restaurants,
clubs and bars generally attend until 3:00 am. The sale of liquor in stores and gas
stations is permitted until 11:00 pm.
Accessibility
The streets surrounding the Main Square are closed to prevent the entry of cars
and vehicles in general every day between 11:00 am and 01:00 pm because during
this time takes place the change of guard at the Government Palace. Walking
access is not restricted. Every Sunday 7:00 am to 1:00 pm the 52 blocks of
Arequipa Avenue are closed to prevent access of cars and motor vehicles in
general, with the intention of providing exclusive use to cyclists and walkers.
TRANSPORT
Taxis
Taxi service is also a commonly used service. In Lima there are several taxi
companies that have properly identified vehicles and can be order by calling the
respective station. • In case you want to take a taxi on the street you should
consider the following recommendations:
Make sure that the taxi carrying a sign saying "TAXI" on the roof of the unit.
Sit at the back of the driver.
Make sure the latches and handles are in good condition, remember that the
only person who can be in the car is the driver, do not share the taxi with a
stranger.
Avoid vehicles that stand waiting for passengers and make sure to agree well
with the taxi driver how much you will pay (in soles or dollars).
If you need to take a taxi from the airport, we recommend addressing taxis that
have a service module at the airport.
Public transport:
During your stay in Lima you will find a number of alternatives to get around within
the city. The most popular public transport in the city are buses and "combis" that
belong to different private companies and cover different routes throughout the
city. The cost of this service may vary between S /. 1.20 and S /. 2.50 depending on
the distance traveled.

INFRASTRUCTURE
As the main point of entry to the country, Lima has developed a large and modern hotel infrastructure in
the last years due to the favorable investment climate and economic stability running through the nation.
That is why today the hotel market of Lima has a total of 124 hotels of category 3, 4 and 5-star which
represent a total of 8489 rooms and 15367 beds.
To date, the city hosts more than 15 major international hotel chains, among which are: Starwood Hotels &
Resorts, Marriott, Accor, Meliá, Radisson, Hilton, among others.
Furthermore, Lima has about 140 rooms with modern infrastructure and technology to meet all the
requirements of any event, national or international, and make the visitors stay a unique experience.

CONVENTION CENTER
Lima will have a modern Convention Center that will be inaugurated in 2015.
Designed with cutting-edge infrastructure, it will be built on a 10 684 m2 perimeter and will have four floors of
auditoriums and four basement levels, where 18 rooms of various sizes will be found, both for individual use as
simultaneous and furniture with specialized equipment, administration office area, stores, among others, with
a capacity of up to 10,000 people.
This monumental work will complement the urban cultural area of ​the city through the development of social,
cultural and business activities of national, regional and international public and private sectors .

CULTURAL LIMA
Lima has a characteristic charm, a passage of Latin
American history, the birthplace of the most imposing and
majestic architectural masterpieces.
The Historic Center of Lima is the place of origin of the
colonial city, where you will find main buildings and
churches of the time.
It was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1988
due to the significance of the city during the Viceroyalty of
Peru, leaving as evidence of his strength and history,
architectural beauty, in which through its over 1600
balconies, 11 mansions and palaces of the Colonial time
and other buildings in the style of art Nouveau and
neoclassical art reflects that over time remains to behold.
The city is bathed by waters of the Pacific Ocean so at the
early eighteenth century, it received the honorary title of
"Pearl of the Pacific" because it was the entrance of
international trade in our historic Port of Callao, who has
one of the largest military monuments built in the colonial
period.
MUSEUMS
To relate with the ancient Peruvian culture, the city has
one of the largest cultural management tools, museums,
in which our goods and ancestral heritage are reflected.
Lima has more than seventy (70) museums, among which
are: the National Museum of Archaeology Anthropology
and History, the Larco Museum, the Gold Museum of Peru,
the National Museum of Archaeology, Anthropology and
History of Peru, that among its most important collections
contain an impressive display of pre-Columbian textiles,
the National Museum of Peruvian Culture and the Rafael
Larco Herrera Archaeological Museum, located inside a
colonial mansion and which has among its most attractive
features a fine collection of ancient gold and silver of
Peru, the famous "Erotic Art Collection" and "the
Deposits" where visitors can see 45,000 classified
archaeological objects.
It should be noted that not only are museums dedicated
to expose the manifestations of Peruvian pre-Columbian
culture, but also there are art museums, natural history
museums, science museums, religious and thematic
museums.
ART GALLERIES
Peru besides being an ancient country with a vast
historical testimony, promotes learn more about the
mysticism of their ancestral culture which is a motivation
of greatest masterpieces.
Lima comes attracting and being the connection of major
cultural manifestations of national and international
character.
The city has more than 20 art galleries and exhibitions of
the best plastic artists of Peru and internationals, each one
located in areas of significant artistic atmosphere of the
city. Nowadays international art fairs are already running
in the city.
SQUARES AND PARKS
Lima is surrounded by parks, squares and Alamedas in
which pays tribute to heroes and notable figures of the
Peruvian History through its architecture that range from
statues, monuments and even water fountains, that is
why it still keeps the traditional atmosphere that makes it
more interesting and attended.
Each of them has a great lighting, infrastructure and
distinguished esthetic with capacity to accommodate
higher demand of visitors.
The Main Square or Plaza de Armas is the main public
space of the city and is located in the heart of the Historic
Center of Lima. ? It is surrounded by the majestic
constructions of the main powers of the country and the
city: the Government Palace seat of executive power; the
Municipal Palace, the seat of local government; Lima
Cathedral and the Archbishop's Palace.
ARCHAEOLOGICAL
SITES
Lima was the cradle of many civilizations, among which
stands CARAL: the first formed in America and the oldest
in the world along with Mesopotamia.
The Sacred City of Caral is located in northern Lima and it
is Heritage of Humanity, distinguished by its antiquity,
pyramid constructions, and for being a civilization that
develop advanced technology
Currently in Lima has been reported 217 archaeological
sites, many of them located in middle of the city, easily
access and perfect condition, becoming one of the main
attractions of the city.
NATURE
Lima offers a vast supply of natural tourist destinations. The
capital's flora consists of a variety of herbs, plants, shrubs
and trees that grow in the hills and mountains.
National Reserve Lomas de Lachay: characterized by having
the richest coastal flora and wildlife between July and
October, in which it dresses in green. There we can find the
Coastal Fox and owls of the sands in their natural habitat.
Nor Yauyos Cochas: besides to appreciate the extensive
flora and fauna, the towering Andes we will capture more
than one photo in this part of Lima.
Also on the Lima coast, we can find a system of guano
islands and appreciate biodiversity in sea fauna.

ENTERTAINMENT
In Lima, film festivals, music, fashion, art and entertainment coexist with traditional festivals. The city and
the beaches are complemented harmoniously offering the best of contemporary life.
Casinos and Gaming Houses:
Lima has become an excellent tourist destination for its Casinos and Gaming Houses, legally permitted.
Several international and national luxury brands have established casinos. Some additionally offer artistic
performances, as the purest style of big cities of the world. The vast majority of them open 24 hours
continuously and are located mostly in hotels of 4 and 5 star.
Folkloric shows
A good way to approach the Peruvian culture is sharing its manifestations through the song, music and
dance indigenous and Creole. This cultural aspect is very rich and extensive, because each region has its
own characteristics. In Lima exists several nightclubs and shows presenting varied and rich Peruvian
folklore.

The city has environments of all styles and forms; international music, contemporary music, as the purest
style of a modern city. On them you will appreciate an art show or just take a relaxing cocktail or your

Objects and jewelry in gold and silver in specialty stores.
Contemporary design, decorative items, paintings, clothing and jewelry created by young Peruvian
designers, in malls and exclusive boutiques in Miraflores and San Isidro.

GASTRONOMIC LIMA
Peruvian gastronomy is a celebration of Peru, a country with an ancient
tradition that do not lose their roots and where the art of eating stands
out among its people.
Lima is known as the gastronomic capital of Latin America thanks to the
breadth and sophistication of dishes approved by the most prestigious
chefs and specialists in the field. The mixture of ingredients, our diverse
cultures and many cooking techniques, modern and ancient, have
developed a unique culinary tradition in the world.
In the last years there has emerged a culinary revolution with fusion food
and novo-Andean cuisine as well as the use of organic cocoa in the
preparation of fine chocolate desserts and the wide diffusion of Peruvian
coffee, of many varieties. Both Peruvian coffee and cocoa have won
several international awards around the world.

Lima has more than 800 restaurants categorized in various aspects and
category, ranging from 5 forks to traditional and popular.

SECURITY AND ECONOMIC
STABILITY
The capital of Peru is the main industrial and financial center
of the country and one of the most important financial
centers in Latin America, due to economic, political and social
stability. That is why Peru has become one of the countries
with higher growth prospects and development according to
the Global Competitiveness Report (GCR) issued by the World
Economic Forum.
Lima is responsible of more than two thirds of Peru's
industrial production and most of its tertiary sector; thanks
that, today it can seen in the city, national and transnational
companies many of which are located in modern buildings in
the main districts of the city.
Due to the development, the city has a Public Safety Plan 2013
- 2018, which was prepared by the National Public Safety
System (SINASEC) of the Ministry of Interior. In which the
strategic guidelines are executed to implement security
booths at strategic points, to ensure the integrity and security
of citizens and visitors.
