02 chart to find the blade style for your particular soil conditions. Generally, larger blades work better in softer soils and

This past October we used a 5" Steep Taper UltraBit on a job in Park
Falls, WI. The 750' bore was in very rocky and gravel conditions. We also
ran into some solid rock and were able to drill through it.
The bit held up under very tough conditions.

Solid-body construction equates to greater strength and significantly longer life than competitors hollow body designs.
Machined from a solid billet of tool steel and then heat treated; this reamer simply outperforms all other fluted reamers on the

provide smooth cutting and maximum mixing performance. Heavy-duty
V-Faced carbide teeth and extensive hardfacing complement this solid

Our Ground Hawg Reamers feature a dense array of brazed
conical carbide teeth and produce an aggressive cutting action.
The carbides are set at a 20 degree positive lead angle on the alloy
steel mounting blocks and then fabricated to the tapered blades
(40 degree) to provide the ideal cutting geometry. These reamers
are productive at low torque pressures in a wide variety of ground
condtions ranging from medium to soft rock formations.

The Sand Shark Series of backreamers are fabricated from heat
treated alloy steel to resist wear in abrasive soils while adding strength
and durability to the entire reamer. These reamers perform best in
unstable soil conditions, such as; sugar sand and sandy loams.
Angled blade design offers exceptional mixing and pumping while the
tapered body packs a nice, strong filter cake.

Our Taper Barrel Reamers feature V-Faced carbide teeth cutters in an offset spiral lacing pattern for optimum cutting in the

Our Barrel Reamer design features
offset rows of fixed conical carbide
cutters on the reamer face which
allows the reamer to cut slightly
larger than its outside diameter, this
permits the flow of drilling slurry past
the reamer body. Carbide hardfacing
is also applied in high wear areas for
extended life. These reamers also have
replaceable fluid jets and a cleanout
plug. Barrel Reamers are often used
in tandem with larger reamers, such
as, fly cutters or hole openers for
stabilization and packing when pulling
in final product/utility.

HDD PULLBACK SWIVELS
Several unique design features of our clevis x clevis
swivels combine to make them the strongest on the
market. Four bearings and a larger shaft constructed
from tool steel provide added strength you won’t find
with competitors swivels. Full diameter shouldered pins,
recessed into the smooth and durable outer casing
creates a tremendously strong connection and also
allows for snag free pullbacks. These swivels also have
side-mounted, recessed grease fittings which protects
the fittings and also makes for easy access when
performing swivel maintenance.

When it comes to Maxi-Rig HDD Swivels Underground Tools will
not compromise on quality. That is why we offer only the best,
Brewis Big Rig Pullback Swivels. Each swivel uses either a SKF
Explorer or FAG X-Life Spherical Roller Thrust Bearing of a specific
declared size. Most swivel manufacturers don’t declare the bearing
capacity of their swivels, but instead quote a figure for the strength
of the supporting steelwork; this isn’t much help if the bearing has
been compromised or has seized up. Our swivels have a dynamic
capacity that exactly matches the rating or size of the swivel.

Directional Drilling Locating System

The DigiTrak® F5® Directional Drilling Locating System
is the most advanced in DCI’s F Series™ line of
locating systems. Over five years in development and
backed by over 20 years of HDD locating experience,
the F5 platform builds on DCI’s industry-standard
Eclipse® locating technology.
The F5 receiver incorporates DCI’s patented 3D
antenna technology, Ball-in-the-Box™ locating that lets
you walk directly to a locate point from any direction,
colorful and intuitive icon-driven menus, a four-way
toggle switch, and easy-to-understand graphics, which
together provide a best-in-class user experience.

The F5 system offers multiple transmitter options
in five frequencies to help you overcome jobsite
interference better than ever at depths of up to 90
ft. (27.4 m). DCI transmitters can track existing nonmetallic ducts, measure pullback tension and mud
pressure, and steer reliably where a direct walkover is
not possible. Dual-frequency transmitters can change
frequency in-ground, a valuable time-saving feature.
FPT fluid pressure transmitters (a technology patented
by DCI) monitor pressure in real time to help prevent
inadvertent returns while drilling pilot bores.
The F5 receiver comes standard with DigiTrak
DataLog®.Built-in Bluetooth technology transfers this
data from the F5 receiver to a PC with Log-WhileDrilling (LWD™) software, where a variety of options
are available for analyzing, annotating, and displaying
data. View both current and past data logged by the
F5 receiver even while still drilling.
The DigiTrak F5 receiver gives a bird’s-eye view of
the relative positions of the receiver and transmitter,
a 24-position roll indicator, pilot hole fluid pressure
data, and the transmitter’s pitch, signal strength,
temperature, and battery strength. During a depth
reading, the depth display shows a side view of the
drill head along with the bird’s-eye view, providing
the transmitter’s location in three dimensions on the
same screen. The F5 provides depth readings over the
transmitter and predicted depth readings at the front
locate point (FLP), allowing for tracking on-the-fly over
a level drill path. All of this information is sent to the
remote display (FSD) on the drill.

The FSD’s screen is normally dedicated to the
transmitter’s roll clock. When the receiver takes a
depth reading, the FSD automatically adjusts to also
display depth.
TARGET STEERING SETUP MENU AND RECEIVER DISPLAY
Target Steering® calculates the distance and depth of
the transmitter for the current bore path. This lets you
make up/down and left/right steering corrections on
the way to the target, resulting in straighter pilot bores.
Crisp graphics make this function easy to set up and
operate. Roll offset allows the transmitter’s 12 o’clock
position to be electronically compensated to match that
of the drill head. The F5 receiver is compatible with the
remote F Series Display (FSD™) and Multi-Function
Display (MFD®). The F5 system comes with an F5R
receiver, FSD remote display, three DigiTrak lithium-ion
battery packs, and an intelligent charger with both AC
and DC power cords. Transmitters are sold separately.
