Hard Work in the Off-Season
Pays Off with Dividends!
The football team is off to a great
start. The Titans have posted a 4-2
record through their first six games of
the 2012 season. Offensively, the
team has averaged nearly 400 yards
per game. Senior QB Ryan Kurtz
has led the way rushing for 11 touchdowns and adding 4 in the air. Senior
Keith Malave has carried the load at
running back for the Titans, while
Chris Figaro, Kevin Shepherd and
newcomer Dan Markulin have all
helped the offensive resurgence. Of
course, no offense can move without
work being done in the trenches. The
Hogs have been paving the way! Seniors Brad Baker, Sean McBride,
Ron Howard and Brandon Nelan
are all returning starters. This experi-
enced group is the main reason for
the impressive offensive numbers
thus far. Defensively, the team
has been getting it done as well.
Although they have surrendered
some points, they have been tightening up went it counts. Since
most of the team plays both sides
of the ball, they take pride in the
defense stopping the opponent and
getting the offense back on the
field.
With the toughest part of the
schedule ahead, the team hopes
the confidence they are gaining
now will benefit them in future
contest. Stay tuned for further updates.
The girls’ cross country team won their first meet of the
season against Mater Dei on September 11th with strong
running by newcomers, Angela Osterbye, Dawn Zitzman, and Julia Reis as well as veterans, Caroline Castro
and Kimberlee Switzer. Also new to the team this year
is Elizabeth Connor who joins returning runners Ashley
Burdick and Angela Kabongo. Zitzman and Osterbye
also ran well in our loss to St. Rose. The Lady Titans
look forward to running against Ranney, Asbury Park,
and Point Pleasant Beach in the coming weeks. Come
see these girls run at Holmdel Park on October 1st, 9th,
and/or 23rd .
The Boys Cross Country Team has been training hard
since midsummer. We have taken several trips to Holmdel
Park and Sandy Hook to train for the upcoming season. Off
to a tough start the Titans lost a very close race to Mater Dei,
while Dylan Carson won the race our team lost 28-25. The
team is led by seniors Anthony Sandi and Nick Schifano,
while Juniors Dylan Carson, John Burnley and Ray Baker
have much improved from last year and are grinding out
good times. Incoming freshmen Nick Depompa and Aziel
Rosado are competing at the varsity level and give the Titans
a lot to look forward to in the future. The Titans are looking
to improve their record past the 500 mark this year
Cross Country is off to a speedy start at Bolger this
season! Practices started last week and with nearly 50
runners, this season looks promising for both teams –
Girls and Boys! We are especially excited because there
are so many new faces this year, as so many of the new
fifth graders have come out to run. These new runners
are turning to some of the more experienced runners for
guidance and leadership, especially our eighth grade veteran runners: Kevin Rogers, Gavin Sloop, Ariana Giebler, and Breanna Antonucci. Together, both new and
experienced runners are making awesome progress. Both
teams are practicing everyday in order to prepare for
their season. We are looking forward to a great season
and we hope to see you at our meets!
This years Lady Titans are seven girls
strong, led by Senior Captain Elizabeth Manoes with Seniors Joy Elongue, Sumer Soliman and Lorens Vela. Sophomore Jasmen
Delp and Freshmen Fayth Heeren and
Annmarie Melfie.
The season began during the “Dog
Days” of summer and will continue through
late October. With three returning players, we
are working on building the next generation of
Lady Titan Tennis players. The girls work hard
and are dedicated to their sport and school always representing both with great competitive
spirit and sportsmanship. We know being on
the road for each match is not always easy, but
we stand up to the challenge every match and
do our very best. Please find time to come out
and support the Lady Titan Tennis Team.
This fall season, the Varsity Cheerleading team had an overwhelming turnout at
tryouts! With many new and experienced
cheerleaders, we are full of talent. Each
week we have been perfecting sideline
cheers, in addition to a adding on to a competitive driven, half-time performance. Cheerleaders are busy building team
unity and spirit throughout the Titan community. We are looking forward to hosting
a "Tiny Titan" fundraiser where young
girls from our community, come and experience the fun and excitement at the Varsity level.

The 5th and 6th grade Keansburg Titans are very excited to have a new sport to play this year. Field
Hockey was introduced to the 5th and 6th grade girls in September, and they are rapidly taking to the game of
wooden sticks. The girls are able to practice on their new field, and are especially appreciative of the provided
equipment. As a new program, the girls are hoping to use the season to learn imperative skills and techniques
that will move the intermural team to a Junior Varsity program the following year. Coach Malloy encourages
all 5th and 6th girls to come out and try the new sport. Let’s go Titans!
Not Just Sports
Raised and donated
$8000.00 for the
Wounded Warrior Project!
The Titan Baseball and Softball teams along
with a dedicated group of staff members and
volunteers hosted the Second Annual Titan
5K to benefit the Wounded Warrior Project! This organization provides servicemen
and women returning from overseas opportunities to be honored and empowered. The WWP
seeks to foster the most successful, welladjusted generation of wounded service members in our nation's history. The five values of
the WWP are fun, integrity, loyalty, innovation
and service which are echoed in the ideals and
values of those responsible for participating in
the Second Annual Titan 5K! Go Titans!!!
The Third Annual Titan 5K will be held
on May 11, 2013. Mark your calendars and
get ready! This coming year we hope to be
continue tot success and raise even more for
this worthy cause.
