Die italienische Schiffsindustrie
Nachdem 2012 wie 2002 und 2009 ein Krisenjahr
für die weltweite Schiffsindustrie war, gab es 2013
Anzeichen für einen Aufwärtstrend in fast allen
Bereichen. Die Auftragseingänge haben 50 Millionen GBRT (gewichtete Bruttoregistertonne) überschritten, das ist der höchste Wert seit 2008 und
mehr als doppelt so hoch als 2012. Zwei Drittel der
Aufträge entfallen auf Transportschiffe, besonders
auf Fracht- und Containerschiffe. Im Bereich HighTech sind wachsende Auftragszahlen im Bereich
Offshore, Flüssiggas und chemische Produkte zu
verzeichnen.
Es gibt verschiedene Gründe für die erhöhte Nachfrage nach neuen Schiffen: Die Schiffe werden immer
genauer an ihren Verwendungszweck angepasst und
das Thema „Energieeffizienz“ wird immer wichtiger
und wird besonders durch die Regierungen von China und Korea finanziell gefördert. Nicht zu vergessen
die spekulative Komponente durch Hedgefonds und
privates Beteiligungskapital, da die Preise in den
letzten 5 Jahren um 70 % gefallen sind.
Die Nachfrage kommt zu 86 % aus China, Korea
und Japan, auf Europa entfallen nur 5 % der Bestellungen. Wertmäßig ist der Anteil der europäischen
Werften aber mindestens doppelt so hoch.
2013 wurden mit italienischen Werften Verträge für
9 Kreuzfahrtschiffe abgeschlossen. Auch hier zeigt
sich eine immer größer werdende Differenzierung,
um neue Kundensegmente zu erschließen und spezielle Angebote für verschiedene Bedürfnisse zu unterbreiten. In der Branche geht man von einer jährlichen Zunahme von Passagieren um 4 % aus.
Die Nachfrage nach neuen energiesparenden Kreuzfahrtschiffen nimmt auch zu, weil der Kostendruck
ständig steigt und Energieeffizienz und die Einhaltung der strengen Umweltauflagen eine wichtige
Rolle spielen. Dies stellt sowohl die Werften als auch
die Zulieferbetriebe vor neue Herausforderungen.
Ähnlich gelagert sind die Probleme bei den Fähren,
wobei hier noch hinzukommt, dass die Flotte veraltet
und der Markt sehr zersplittert ist. Trotz der Konsolidierungsphase in den vergangenen Jahren gibt es
immer noch kleinere Reedereien, die nur schwer Zugang zu Krediten haben und die Order bleiben daher
in diesem Bereich auf sehr bescheidenem Niveau.

Das Auftragsvolumen bei den Megayachten hat sich
2013 sehr gut entwickelt und das sowohl bei denen
mit einer Länge von über 70 Metern als auch bei den
„Gigayachten“ ab 100 Meter Länge. Besonders aus
den USA wie auch aus den Schwellenländern Brasilien und China wird gesteigertes Interesse signalisiert,
während sich die Nachfrage aus dem russischen
Raum und dem Mittleren Osten konsolidiert hat.
Im Bereich Offshore wird es auf Grund des wachsenden Energiebedarfs und des Verzichts auf Atomenergie auch in den kommenden Jahren einen weiteren
Anstieg der Nachfrage geben.
2013 wurde zunehmend in Modernisierungen von
Fahrgastschiffen und den Umbau von Offshoreschiffen investiert. Gerade in diesen Bereichen wird das
auch weiterhin so sein.
Die italienischen Werften haben von dem Aufschwung 2013 profitiert: sie haben Aufträge für
neue Schiffe für 500.000 GBRT (ca. 2,2 Milliarden
Euro) erhalten. 2012 betrug der Wert lediglich
800 Millionen Euro). Andererseits haben Auftragsrückgänge zwischen 2008 und 2012 zu einer Dämpfung der Produktion geführt, so dass einige kleinere
Werften geschlossen wurden.
Eine kürzlich vorgestellte Studie der Europäischen
Kommission zeigt, dass die italienische Zulieferindustrie im europäischen Vergleich (EU 28 + Norwegen und Türkei) für den Schiffbau auf dem zweiten
Platz nach Deutschland ist. Das Produktionsvolumen
liegt bei 8,7 Milliarden Euro von denen 2,7 Milliarden Euro für den Export bestimmt sind (30 %). Bezogen auf die Beschäftigtenzahlen liegt Italien mit
32.000 Angestellten an dritter Stelle nach Deutschland und Großbritannien. Insgesamt gibt es mehr
als 6.800 Betriebe. Das wiederum sind doppelt so
viele wie in Deutschland und zeigt die Zersplitterung
dieses Industriezweiges, die einerseits von Vorteil
ist, anderseits durch die zunehmende Globalisierung
eher von Nachteil.
After a decade of crisis – marked particularly by
the years 2002, 2009 and 2012 –, in the course of
2013 the maritime industrial sector has eventually
shown signs of recovery and of a potential upturn
in all its sub-branches. This trend applies also to the
Italian market.
Orders in 2013 exceeded 50 million gross registered
tonnages; the highest value since 2008 and more
than twice the quantity recorded in 2012. Two thirds
of these orders apply to transport ships, cargo ships
and container ships. A relevant number of orders apply to the high-tech sector, in particular the offshore
branch, liquid gasses and chemical products.
The growing demand for new ships is due to various
factors: on one hand, the increasing customization
of ships impedes serial production, consequently
the shipyards are not able to cover the entire market; while on the other, the increasing interest for
energy-efficient vessels – particularly promoted by
the Chinese and Korean governments – has contributed to the growing demand. Finally, further reasons
influencing the demand are the speculative strategies implemented by hedge-funds and private equity
investors since the market prices have fallen by 70 %
during the past five years.
A total of 86 % of the global demand for ships comes
from Asia; in particular from China, Japan and Korea.
European orders amount to only 5 % of the world
demand. However, judging on a monetary evaluation basis, vessels produced for European clients
have an average double value than ships produced
for Asian clients.
In 2013 Italian shipyards signed agreements concerning the construction of 9 cruise liners. Also in the
cruise subsector a growing market differentiation
and segmentation which affects construction criteria
of ships must be taken into account in order to satisfy the wishes of the clients. According to the latest
projections the number of cruise-ship passengers is
going to increase by 4 % per year.
The demand for energy-efficient ships is rising; such
trend is due to the increasing energy costs and secondly, because of the stronger environmental protection requirements that have to be met. Thus both shipyards and subcontractors are facing new challenges.
Within the ferry boats production line, Italian shipyards are facing similar common problems. Moreover, the fleet is outdated and the market is quite
fragmented. Despite a consolidation phase during
the last years access to credit still is a problem affecting minor Italian players. As a result they are able
to accept modest orders only.
On the contrary the number of orders concerning the
construction of mega-yachts has increased during
the last year (both for the production of yachts over
70 and 100 meter long). In particular the demand
from the USA and the two emerging markets Brazil
and China is growing while the one from Russia and
the Middle East has been consolidating.
Furthermore the demand concerning the offshore
sector will increase due to the growing energy
needs, partly caused by the rise of nuclear power
renunciation.
2013 was a also a successful year for the modernization of passenger and offshore ships. In these sectors
investment have been planned.
Overall Italian shipyards benefited from the positive
2013: they received orders for the construction of
new ships for a total value of 500,000 gross registered tonnages (about 2,2 billion Euro compared
to 800 million Euro in 2012). However, a decline of
orders between 2008 and 2012 led to a decreased
production level, forcing some minor shipyards to
shut down.
A recently presented study by the European Commission on the maritime industry in Europe shows that
the Italian shipbuilding supply industry is second
only to Germany. The production volume reached
8,7 billion Euro, out of which 30 % - equal to 2,7
billion Euro - is dedicated to exports.
In terms of total number of employees active in the
industry, Italy occupies the third place after Germany
and Great Britain, with 32,000 professionals. The
Italian companies operating in the sector surpass
6,800, twice as much as the number of German
companies. Such data reveals how fragmented the
Italian shipbuilding branch is, which on one hand
has brought certain advantages, while on the other
leads to loss of competitiveness in an increasing globalized market.

die Abgasreinigung an, um die Menge an Schmutzstoff in Abgasen zu verringern, die Dieselmotoren
großer Schiffe, wie Kreuzfahrschiffe, Cargoschiffe
und Fähren emittieren. Die Systeme Ecospray EGC
gewährleisten eine Schadstoffmehrfachkontrolle, die
­Schwefeldioxidemissionen (SOx), besondere Stoffe und Rußpartikel und Emissionen von PAH und
CO reduziert. Die Minderung von Schwefeldioxid­
missionen wird nur mit Seewasser ohne Verbrauch
von chemischen Reagenzien durchgeführt. Dadurch
wird die Meeresumwelt nicht beeinträchtigt. Die
anderen Partikelemissionen können vor dem Rauchgasentschwefelungsverfahren (DeSOx) herabgesetzt
werden; durch Installation eines katalytischen Systems
oder eines Nassfilters.
Aufgrund ihrer Sachkenntnisse und ihrer zahlreichen
Referenzen in Bezug auf statische Dieselgeneratoren für Energieanlagen verfügt Ecospray auch über
Lösungen für die Rauchgasentschwefelung (DeSOx)
an Bord.
Ecospray Technologies has been active in the
business­of Air Pollution Control systems and equipment since its foundation. In the marine industry
Ecospray offers innovative and high performance
Exhaust Gas ­Cleaning Systems for reducing the
­pollutants ­contained in the exhaust gases of ­marine
diesel engines of large ships emissions of sulfur
­oxides (SOx), particulate matter and soot particles,
as well as PAH and CO. SOx reduction is mainly pursued without the use of chemical reagents, but only
with sea water, eliminating any side effects for the
marine environment. The other pollutants reduction
can be reached up-stream of the DeSOx removal also
installing either a proprietary dry catalytic ­system or
a wet filtration. Based on its great expertise and
numerous references in the diesel static generators for shore power plants, Ecospray can also offer
­on-board DeNOx solutions when required.
