The Volksbank eG Braunschweig Wolfsburg project is already
moving on to its next stage of development. The “Toblerone”
and the adjacent row of buildings are already home to the Job
Center and the Volksbank BraWo administration. Another office
tower block, a specialist shopping centre, an Intercity hotel,
attractive restaurants and spacious parking areas are all to be
complemented by appealing square and garden design.

Das Projekt der Volksbank eG Braunschweig Wolfsburg geht
bereits in die nächste Entwicklungsrunde. Die „Toblerone“
sowie die anschließenden Gebäuderiegel sind bereits Standort
des Jobcenters sowie der Verwaltung der Volksbank BraWo.
Ein zusätzlicher Büroturm, ein Fachmarktzentrum, ein IntercityHotel, attraktive Gastronomieangebote und großzügige
Parkhausflächen werden durch eine aufwendige Platz- und
Gartengestaltung eingefasst. Der BraWoPark wird ein besonders attraktives Entrée in die Stadt darstellen, dessen Konzept
von der Stadt, der lokalen Wirtschaft und der Öffentlichkeit
sehr positiv angenommen wird.

Braunschweig ist laut Deutsche Bank Research das Zentrum der
forschungsintensivsten Region Europas. Die Innenstadt zählt zu
den attraktivsten Einkaufsstädten Deutschlands und liegt bundesweit in der Spitzengruppe der Zentralitätswerte. Zukunftsweisende Investitionen von Wirtschaft und Wissenschaft prägen
das Standortprofil ebenso wie die gute Wohnsituation und hohe
Lebensqualität.
According to the “Deutsche Bank” research, Braunschweig is
the most research intensive region in Europe. The town centre is
known as one of the most attractive shopping cities in Germany.
Nationwide, the town is in the top end of the league table of “best
places to live in”. Future orientated investments into economy and
science shape the towns profile as much as excellent housing and
a high standard of living.
Technologietransfer als gelebte Wirklichkeit
Die hohe Dichte von Forschungseinrichtungen, deren exzellente
Vernetzung untereinander und mit der Wirtschaft zeichnen den
Standort Braunschweig aus und schaffen die Grundlage für die
hohe Zahl von Existenzgründungen und Erschließung neuer
Forschungsfelder und Märkte. Braunschweig ist Kompetenzzentrum für die Bereiche Verkehrstechnik, Biotechnologie,
Finanzwirtschaft, Maschinenbau sowie für innovative Querschnittstechnologien wie z. B. Mechatronik, Adaptronik.
Technology transfer as a lived reality
The high density of research facilities and their excellent networking with each other and with the economy makes Braunschweig
a top location. All of this provides the basis for a high number
of business start-ups and for the development of new fields of
research and new markets. Braunschweig is the centre of excellence for the areas of traffic engineering, biotechnology, finance,
engineering as well as for innovative cross-sectional technologies,
i.e. mechatronics and adaptronics.
Zwei neue Forschungszentren
Am deutlichsten zeigt sich der Erfolg der Kooperation in zwei
neuen Forschungszentren: Das Zentrum für Systembiologie
(BRICS) wurde aufgebaut von der Technischen Universität und
dem Helmholtz-Zentrum für Infektionsforschung, und erforscht
interdisziplinär die Regelung komplexer biologischer Systeme.
Das Niedersächsische Forschungszentrum Fahrzeugtechnik (NFF)
wird derzeit gemeinsam von Volkswagen und der Technischen
Universität Braunschweig am Forschungsflughafen und in
Wolfsburg errichtet. Das Kompetenzcluster Forschungsflughafen
präsentiert sich als europäisches Test- und Erprobungszentrum
für Machbarkeits-, Verifizierungs-, Validierungs- und Zertifizierungsarbeiten, insbesondere im Bereich sicherheitskritischer
Verkehrsapplikationen wie z. B. für das Ortungs- und Navigationssystem Galileo.
Two new research centres
Two emerging centres of research are another indication for
the success of this cooperation: The Centre for System Biology
(BRICS), established by the Technical University (TU) and the
‘Helmholtz’ Centre for Infectious Disease, searches interdisciplinary for the control of very complex biological systems. The Lower
Saxony Institute of Vehicle Technology (NFF) is being built by
Volkswagen and the Technical University (TU) at the Research
Airport Braunschweig and in Wolfsburg. The Research Airport
is a true conglomeration of competence. It presents itself as a
European Test Centre for feasibility-, verification-, validation- and
certification studies, especially in the field of safety critical traffic
applications like the positioning- and navigation system “Galileo”.
Innovative research and visitor centre
Rund 50 Kilometer südöstlich von Braunschweig entsteht das
„paläon“, ein wissenschaftlich fundiertes, museal innovatives
Forschungs- und Erlebniszentrum. Im Mittelpunkt stehen die
„Schöninger Speere“, die 1994 in unmittelbarer Nähe zum
Standort im Braunkohlentagebau entdeckt wurden.
ASSMANN BERATEN + PLANEN ist bereits seit der Projektentwicklung an der Realisierung dieses komplexen Bauvorhabens
beteiligt und koordiniert und steuert nicht nur die Prozesse für
Budgetierung, Planung, Ausschreibung, Vergabe und Ausführung
des Baukörpers und des Außengeländes, sondern auch für das
Ausstellungskonzept und die künstlerische Gestaltung der
Ausstellung.
Around 50 kilometres southeast of Braunschweig, a research and
visitor centre named “paläon” is being built to offer a scientifically
based, innovative museum experience. The centre’s focus is the
“Schöningen Spears”, which were discovered in 1994 close to the
centre’s location during open-cast lignite mining.
ASSMANN BERATEN + PLANEN has been involved in implementing
this complex construction project since the development stage.
They are not only coordinating and steering the processes for
budgeting, planning, tendering, construction and landscaping they even look after the exhibition’s concept and artistic design.

Living “An der Ferdinandbrücke”
Mit 4 Stadtvillen entstand direkt an einem Seitenarm der Oker
ein exklusives Wohnquartier in Innenstadtnähe, das Ruhe sowie
freie Blicke auf das Wasser schafft. Mit dieser Wohnanlage
wurde eines der attraktivsten Grundstücke in direkter Okerlage
erschlossen. In den Stadtvillen, die der neuesten Energieeinsparverordnung entsprechen, entstanden je 6 bzw. 7 hochwertige, großzügig geschnittene Wohnungen in unterschiedlicher
Größe und mit variablen Grundrissen. Daran anknüpfend wird

Four new city villas next to a branch of the Oker river are now
offering an exclusive residential quarter close to the city centre
featuring peaceful living and a clear view to the water. This new
residential project takes advantage of one of the most attractive
pieces of land on the banks of the Oker. The villas meet the latest
energy efficiency directives and comprise 6 to 7 high-quality,
spacious apartments of different sizes and layouts. Three more
villas are to be built to complete the project. This next section will
be embarked upon in spring 2013. Sales have already begun!
