Personal profile
Michael Rüdiger (born in 1964) started his professional career in 1983 as a bank trainee at
Raiffeisenbank Kurhessen eG, Kassel, Germany. He went on to study at Justus Liebig University in
Giessen, Germany and graduated in Business Studies. Michael Rüdiger then joined the trainee
programme of Hoffmann-La Roche, Basel, Switzerland.
From 1991 to 1996, he worked in Risk Management at the former Schweizerische Kreditanstalt in
Zurich, Switzerland and Frankfurt/Main, Germany before being appointed to the Management
Board of Schweizerische Bankgesellschaft (Deutschland) AG, now UBS, in 1996 for two years. From
1998 to 2000, Michael Rüdiger was Managing Director of Allianz Asset Management GmbH. Michael Rüdiger held a variety of management positions in the Credit Suisse Group starting at the end
of 2000, and was appointed Chief Executive Officer for Central Europe on 1 March 2008.
He has been CEO of DekaBank since 1 November 2012, and is a member of the Board of Management of Deutsche Sparkassen- und Giroverband e.V. and Bundesverband öffentlicher Banken
Deutschlands e.V. In addition to numerous volunteer activities in the arts and culture and education
(in particular as a member of the Board of Trustees of Goethe University Frankfurt and a member of
the Board of Management and Executive Committee of Gesellschaft für Kapitalmarktforschung
e.V.), Mr Rüdiger is also a member of the Supervisory Board of Evonik Industries AG (and Chairman
of the Finance and Investment Committee), Member of the Börsensachverständigenkommission
(Exchange Experts Commission Germany), Frankfurt Stock Exchange Exchange Council and the Exchange Council of Eurex Deutschland.
