Vize-Praesidentenbericht
Der August ist schon da, kaum zu glauben, der Sommer ist bald
vorbei! Ausser einigen Hochzeiten und kleineren Feiern in Juli
ging es geschaeftlich im Klub ziemlich langsam. In August gab es
die Schnitzengiggle-Veranstaltung sowie etliche Hochzeiten.
Oktoberfestkarten lassen sich nach und nach verkaufen. Der letzte
Samstag in der grossen Halle ist schon ausverkauft. Karten sind aber
noch fuer die Schwabenhalle erhaeltlich. Sonderkarten fuer den
spaeten Eintritt zum ermaessigten Preis werden dieses Jahr wieder
an den Wochenendtagen angeboten. Der Donnerstagabend wird
dieses Jahr gleich Molson-und Corporate-Abend. Interessenten
sollten sich im Klubbuero melden, damit sie freien Eintritt und

Essen bekommen.
Unser Chefkoch, Peter Appelman, hat neuerdings gekuendigt. Ich moechte mich bei ihm fuer
seine Taetigkeit im Klub in den letzten Jahre bedanken. Ein neuer Koch wurde schon eingestellt
und wird bei der September-Monatsversammlung
den Mitgliedern vorgestellt.
Am langen Wochenende in September reisen
Mitglieder und Tanzgruppen (75 an der Zahl !)
nach Milwaukee, um das grosse Landestreffen
zu erleben.

Vice-President’s Report
August is now upon us and I can not believe
that summer is almost over. It was very quiet
at Schwaben Club; we had a few weddings and
few Stag & Does but nothing too major. August
is a little bit better; we have a few more weddings. The Schwaben Dancers had the summer
fundraiser dance.
Oktoberfest tickets have been selling a little bit
every day; our last Saturday in the main hall is
already sold out. There still tickets left for the
Schwaben Hall in case your friends ask. Like last
year, we are also selling the late-night ticket so
if you are not able to get the regular price ticket
you can get a late-night ticket. Thursday night
of Oktoberfest is Corporate Night and Molson
Night. If you have friends who would like to be
part of the Thursday Molson night, please go
to the office and they will give you a ticket for a
free admission and a beer and sausage.
In other club news, Peter Appleman, the club
chef, has given his notice of resignation. I
would like to thank Peter for all ofhis hard work
during his employment with us. We thank you
very much!! We have found a replacement and
during the September’s membership meeting, I
will be giving an update.
Labour Day will see our members and dancegroups going to Milwaukee for Landestrachtenfest. We will be about 75 strong this
year and it should be a great way to end the year.

Manager’s Report
“What’s Going On”
As I write this report the weather is great.
Germany has just won the World Cup of Soccer.
Congratulation to the Germany team on a job
well done! It was good to have the games in
Brazil as their time zone is almost the same as
ours which made T.V. broadcast time great to
watch live. This also helped make it possible to
come to the Schwaben Club to watch the games
at a decent time. The club was packed for every
Germany game and we were even featured live
on location on CTV’s 6 o’clock news. That was
exciting. Thank you for coming out and watching the games at the club, it was fun and more
fun as Champions.
The last two weeks of July I will be in Halifax
Nova Scotia on vacation. On my return I will
be in full Oktoberfest mode getting ready for a
super festival.
Enjoy the rest of the summer and I hope to see
you soon at the Schwaben Club.

Sadly, when August comes, summer is half over!
In July, I had the pleasure of celebrating the
marriage of our son Robert to Lindsay. It was a
wonderful celebration with family and friends.
As September approaches, I remind you of our
1st meeting on Sept 3rd, cabbage roll making
Sept 7 and 8 and Kirchweih Sept 13.
Enjoy the rest of the summer and hopefully we
will see you at the club events this month.

The Table Tennis Group is still looking for female
players who wish to join Irma Urschel (as she is
the only female player at the moment). Every
Wednesday at 7 pm; either in the Schwaben
Hall or the Donau Hall.

Summer Sun = Soccer Fun, every Friday night
at Lackner Woods Public School at 7pm. A
group of children, youth and adults too, get together for exercise, fun and a few goals. Join us!
Everyone is welcome !
Our dance season is just around the corner.
Practice begins August 7th for those going to
Milwaukee, and September 4th for everyone
else. We can’t wait to see everyone back and
ready to dance!

Milwaukee Bus Information
The Schwaben Club will have a bus leaving for Milwaukee on Thursday August 28, 2014 at 11:00PM. The bus will arrive
at the hotel (Country Inn & Suites) Friday morning, it will then make its first run to The Schwabenhof Friday evening for
the Freundschaftsabend celebration. The bus will depart Milwaukee the morning of Monday September 1, 2014.
The cost of the bus will be subsidized so the rates are as follows:
Members: $60.00
Minimum deposit of $30 required by June 30, 2014, remainder required by August 15, 2015.
Non-members:$85.00 Minimum deposit of $45 required by June 30, 2014, remainder required by August 15, 2015.

the age of 74. Wife of Stephen Zimmermann.
Mother of Dave Zimmermann (Krista) and
Monica Bouktsis (Pavlo). Grandmother of
Ellis, Anna, Naomi, Joel, Sara and Jessica
Remembered by nieces and nephews in Europe.
Passed away on Wednesday, August 6, 2014,
in her 83rd year. Wife of the late Horst
Kaufmann. Mother to son Harry Kaufmann
and daughter Heike Kaufmann, grandsons
