Driver Assistance Package: The next Step on the Way to Autonomous Driving
Intelligent Drive Next Level: DRIVE PILOT
• Distance Pilot DISTRONIC and Steering
Pilot at speeds 0 – 210 km/h
• DISTRONIC now also reacts to standing
vehicles (up to 60 km/h)
• Automatic re-start after DISTRONIC standstill in Stop&Go traffic
• Even without lane-markings, steering
support at speeds of up to 130 km/h by
orientation on surrounding vehicles and
parallel structures (swarm)
• Speed Limit Pilot automatically adapts
setting of DISTRONIC to detected speed
limits
• More comfortable hands-on-detection
• Active Emergency Stop Assist

DRIVE PILOT in Driver Assistance Package: Intelligent Hands-On-Detection / Hands-Off-Warning
Active Emergency Stop Assist
• If driver fails to react to continuous warnings, e.g.
due to permanent distraction or medical issue:
• Speed reduction by Distance Pilot DISTRONIC
followed by
• Increasing braking force until full stop
• Activation of hazard warning lights when vehicle
speed below 60 km/h
• Activation of parking brake at standstill
• Driver is able to take over at any time by steering

Driver Assistance Package: Autonomous Braking also at Junctions
Active Braking Assist with crosstraffic function
• Additional function of Active Braking
Assist: detection of collision danger due
to cross traffic
• Optical and acoustic warning
• Situation adaptive boost of driver's
braking power, if necessary up to full
braking
• Without driver reaction:
autonomous emergency braking
• Activation of PRE-SAFE®
• Collision avoidance possible up to
approx. 60 km/h
• Significant reduction of accident severity
up to 70 km/h

7
Driver Assistance Package: Active Braking Assist with Cross-Traffic Function
Congestion Emergency Braking Function
• Without the possibility of evasion: immediate emergency braking
• Accident avoidance possible up to 100 km/h!
• Speed range up to approx. 130 km/h with reduction of accident severity

Driver Assistance Package: Advanced Protection against Accidents with Pedestrians
Evasive Steering Assist
• Support of driver initiated evasion maneuver with defined steering torque
• Supplements Active Brake Assist if driver instinctively or spontaneously initiates
steering maneuver around pedestrian in path of travel
• System supports evasion maneuver and straightening out of the vehicle
• Return of the vehicle to initial lane by the driver
• The philosophy of the Evasive Steering Assist is to
• noticeably support the driver
• initiative to steer must come from the driver
 if system initiated automatic evasive steering maneuver, an inattentive
driver could be surprised by spontaneous steering wheel movement and
could react incorrectly, e.g. by intuitively trying to countersteer.

Driver Assistance Package: Protection against Accidents caused by Vehicles in Adjacent Lanes
Active Lane Keeping Assist and Active Blind Spot Assist
Active Lane Keeping Assist:
• Haptic warning and active intervention by single side
braking if driver leaves lane unintentionally
• Intervention on solid lines
• Intervention on broken lines only in case of an
imminent collision due to vehicles in adjacent line
• Speed range: 60 - 200 km/h
Active Blind Spot Assist:
• Visual warning in outside mirror, if turning signal is
activated additional audible warning if vehicle is in or
about to enter blind spot starting at approx. 10 km/h,
with intelligent design of audible warning
• Single side braking if driver ignores warning and does
not react immediately before imminent side collision

Slip hazard
• Expands the range of current sensors and can
warn of imminent danger earlier than in-vehicle
sensors
• System can automatically exchange (provide
and receive) relevant information with other
vehicles in the surrounding area via mobile
phone technology
• Driver can also send a warning manually
• Enables the car a view around corners and
bends or through obstacles
• Warning concept according to situation:
• Icon in Navigation Display (Live Traffic)
• Optical warning in Instrument cluster
• Voice output ahead of source of danger

Getting Into and Out of Narrow Parking Spaces
Remote Parking Pilot
• Parallel and perpendicular parking
• forward and backward
• Driver has to stay within a radius of approx.
3m around the vehicle
• Attention has to be confirmed by gesture on
smartphone
• Mercedes me connect Service in
