Valtra tractors are built according to individual
customer orders only. The advanced customer
order system allows customers to specify their
tractors exactly as they want them. This is
the most efficient and productive way for the
customer and the manufacturer to build tractors.
The specifications of the end product meet the
exact needs of the customer, and the cost of
unnecessary equipment is eliminated. Valtra’s
customer-centered approach is unique among
tractor manufacturers.
In 1988 Valmet stunned the
tractor world by introducing
color options. This gave rise to the
Valtra’s customer order system of
manufacturing individual tractors.
The comprehensive Valtra à la carte system
makes customizing individual tractors easy
while offering over half-a-million technical
and equipment combinations. Each customer
receives a brand new custom-built tractor
exactly as the customer ordered. Customers
can also monitor the assembly of their new
tractors on the internet – or visit the factory
to see for themselves.

Reliable SisuDiesel Engines
N Series tractors are powered by four-cylinder
4.4 and 4.9 liter SisuDiesel engines. The 4.9 liter
engine is based on the larger 7.4 liter long-stroke
SisuDiesel engine, therefore, it features many of the
design advantages of the 7.4 liter engine. Torque
has been increased by around 10 percent across
the range compared to corresponding engines in
previous models. Four N Series models feature
common rail fuel injection and transport boost for
extra power when needed. The range also features
an efficient and economical EcoPower model.

engines of this size.
SISUDIESEL ADVANTAGES
• Extremely durable and reliable
• 4.9 liter engine has many of the same components as the 7.4 liter SisuDiesel engine:
- pistons, liners, connecting rods
• Low maintenance costs
- 500-hour oil change intervals
• Best power-to-weight ratio among tractor engines
• Low fuel consumption
• Low heat load extends lifespan of engine
• Common rail engines already meet Tier III emissions standards
• High torque at low rpm
• Quiet and pleasant engine sound
• Excellent cold-start properties.
Replaceable,

Quiet and pleasant
engine sound
Low idle speed (650 rpm)
Common rail engines already
meet Tier III emissions standards.
Electronic engine management (EEM) enables the use of
cruise control, which allows the driver to preset the ideal
work speed according to either the driving speed or
the PTO speed.
Common rail fuel injection
Common rail engines offer high levels of torque
across a broad range of speeds, combined with
low emissions and good fuel efficiency. Common
rail engines work together seamlessly with the
electronically controlled powershift transmission,
maintaining low engine speeds and fuel consumption.
Common rail engines provide high fuel injection
pressure regardless of engine speed. The fuel can be
delivered in several stages during a single ignition,
making the engine idle smoothly and quietly. Common
rail engines also react quickly to changes in load,
creating a smoother ride and reducing the need
to change gears. The high torque of common rail
SisuDiesel engines is already available at low rpm, and
torque levels remain high even if the rpm drops while
working. Maximum power is achieved at 2,000 rpm.
Low idle speed
When the tractor is parked and the handbrake engaged, the engine
speed drops to a pleasantly quiet 650 rpm. The low idle speed also
immediately reduces fuel consumption.

TRANSPORT BOOST≥H2
Ecopower
The Valtra N111 EcoPower model offers fuel
savings of 10-15 percent by lowering the engine
speed. The average piston speed is 20 percent
slower than in regular engines. The lifespan of
the engine is correspondingly extended. Wet
cylinder liners and intercooling also extend the
lifespan of SisuDiesel engines. In practice, the
Valtra N111 EcoPower model means significantly
lower work-hour costs, increased protection of
the environment and low emissions. An added
benefit is the reduction in engine noise by
4 to 5 decibels.
Rated rpm
Transport boost offers extra power in gears
H2, H3 and H4 equal to 144 hp and 160 hp.
Transmission and Hydraulic Options
The transmission options include a synchronized forward-reverse shuttle or the
legendary HiTech transmission. The top of the line is the Advance model with
electronically managed forward-reverse shuttle and load-sensing (LS) hydraulics.

2&3
On HiTech and Advance models, the unique Valtra
Power Control system controls transmission
and PTO operations. The system selects the best
engagement of the forward-reverse shuttle, HiShift
button-controlled clutch, powershift gears and PTO
every time whatever the situation.
The system also protects the transmission
against excessive or accidental misuse:
• The forward-reverse shuttle does not
operate at speeds over 6 mph (10 km/h)
• The handbrake cannot be engaged
at speeds over 1.2 mph (2 km/h)
• If a malfunction is detected, the relevant
control unit shuts down
10
Forward-reverse shuttle
Driving directions can be
switched using the shuttle lever
without having to use the clutch.
The transition is always smooth
and fast, regardless of the load.
The shuttle lever also controls
the handbrake. The lever can also
be located on the right on the
steering column.
HiShift
The HiShift button-controlled
clutch allows the driver to change
gears or ranges without using
the floor clutch. The floor clutch
can still be used when extra
precision is needed, for example
when connecting implements or
maneuvering in tight spaces.
Auto 1 and Auto 2 programs
The benefits of the powershift transmission are
realized best in work that requires a lot of shifting.
The powershift transmission can be operated
either manually or by using one of two automatic
programs. The Auto 1 and Auto 2 programs change
gears automatically when engine speed goes
above or falls below the preset rpm.
Auto 1
By selecting Auto 1 with the rocker
switch, the Power Control system will
automatically change the powershift
gears during work. The system will
choose the correct gear to gain
the best performance based on
the engine’s optimum output and
torque characteristics. This automatic
program is designed for both field and
road work. The automatic selection
also works when reducing speed and
features a kick-down function. Auto 1
is ideal for field work, PTO work and
transporting loads.
Auto 2
In Auto 2 the Power Control system
will change the gear either up or
down according to the conditions
preset by the operator. For specific
work conditions, the operator can
set the engine rpm at which the
powershift will change to maintain
the engine rpm at the level chosen
by the operator. Auto 2 shines at
making the combination of tractor and
implements more productive
and efficient.
Kick-down
Both Auto 1 and Auto 2 feature a
kick-down function similar to the
system found on cars. When the
accelerator pedal is pressed down
fast, the system will temporarily shift
down to a lower gear if necessary.
The kick-down function also works
when braking.
AutoTraction
AutoTraction is greatly
appreciated by drivers of
Valtra tractors. It is ideal for
jobs that require repeated
stopping and starting,
such as front -loader
work, baling, headland turning, transporting goods and
mowing roadsides.
How AutoTraction works:
• when the tractor is in gear or the shuttle is engaged and the rpm fall below 1,100 rpm, the tractor does not move
• when the revs rise above 1,100 rpm, the clutch is engaged automatically and the tractor pulls away
• when the rpm fall below 1,100 rpm, the clutch is released automatically and the tractor stops
• when the operator presses the brakes when the rpm are below 1,100 rpm or at less than 6 mph (10 km/h), the clutch is released and the tractor stops
• when the brake pedal is released, the clutch engages and the tractor moves on according to the engine speed.
Automatic
four-wheel-drive
Valtra’s 4WD system
prevents the wheels from
spinning and damaging
the ground. The system
automatically engages
four-wheel-drive for around one second (adjustable by the
operator) when starting off, changing gears, using HiShift or
changing directions. The system can also be deactivated if
required. The four-wheel-drive system and differential lock can
be controlled either automatically or manually.
Differential lock
In the models N121A and N141A the radar is standard.
The system automatically measures the speed difference
between the right rear wheel and transmission and is
engaged if:
• the speed difference is big enough
• the wheel slip is big enough
• the steering is close to the center (not turning)
• the brake pedals are not in use.
The lock is released as soon as the wheel slip has been
reduced sufficiently, the steering is used past a certain
angle or the clutch/brake pedal is used.
In the rest of the N models, the system functions
automatically so that the lock is engaged when the
3-point hitch is down and disengaged when the
3-point hitch is lifted.
The differential lock (DL) system offers many
benefits for the driver:
• increased efficiency
• no need to think about 4WD or DL
- they are only used when needed
- not possible to forget they are ON
• always the best traction
• wheel slip can be monitored on
the instrument panel
• avoid soil structure damage.
11
Hydraulics
Mechanical or electronically controlled hydraulics can be specified as
needed. Controlling the hydraulics is straightforward and logical. The
hydraulic oil change interval is 2,000 hours, which saves time and
costs. The N Series allows for the optional use of bio-oils.
Mechanical hydraulics
control Classic and
HiTech models
In Classic and HiTech models,
the hydraulics are controlled
by switches located on the
right-hand panel. The hydraulic
output is 19 gpm. Two valves
come as standard and a fourth
is optional.
Load-sensing hydraulics on Advance models
The work hydraulics on Advance models are controlled conveniently and efficiently
using the joystick and push buttons located on the new ergonomic armrest. The joystick
can also be used to control the front loader. Due to the sensitive joystick controls and
electronically controlled hydraulic valves, tractor and implement functions can be
adjusted with extreme precision.
The Valtra N121A and 141A models have an extremely high maximum capacity of 30.38
gpm @ 2900 PSI, which can be programmed according to flow and timing. The closed
hydraulic circuit is based on a variable displacement piston pump and is managed by
electronically controlled valves. The load-sensing hydraulics on Advance models meet all
the requirements of the newest implements and implement combinations. The fact that
the work hydraulics can be 100% electronically controlled is unique.
The work hydraulics on Advance models feature as standard 4 valves and one on/off
valve. Two valves front and one on/off valve rear are available as an option. The maximum
number of valves rear is 4 valves + 2 on/off valves front for front loader or front lift. The
standard on/off valve is attached directly to the quick coupling and the other optional
valve is attached straight to the implement.
The valves use only the exact amount of fluid as needed, leaving the remaining fluid to
be used by other valves or the 3-point hitch. This allows for simultaneous operations
as required by modern implements. All valves feature a floating position, which allows
implements that follow the ground to perform ideally.
To ensure the highest possible output, a power beyond connection can be fitted
to the rear.
Operator control and comfort are further
enhanced by the control button for the
hydraulics that is located in the armrest
and offers three stored flow memories.
12
New armrest on Advance models
Valtra Autocontrol
When controlling the electronic hydraulics, the joystick on the driver’s armrest
is used for valves 1 and 2 of the external hydraulics. The joystick can also be
connected to control the front loader. Most of the hydraulics can be activated
using the armrest’s joystick, switches and buttons. The switches and buttons for
the remaining hydraulics are situated in the side panel. The linear switch in the
armrest is used to control valves 3 and 4.
Operating the Valtra electronically controlled Autocontrol 3-point hitch
is easy. All operations can be done from inside the cab. The switches
and buttons for the mechanical option are located in the side panel.
In the electronic option, most of the Autocontrol switches and buttons
are in the driver’s armrest and the remainder in the side panel. Drive
Balance Control comes as standard with the 3-point hitch. Autocontrol
+ wheel slip control is standard on the N121A and N141A models and
optional on Classic and HiTech models.

First-Class Cab
Valtra cabs are designed and purpose-built to
be spacious, ergonomic and comfortable for the
operator. The latest technology is applied to help
keep the driver fresh and alert throughout the
entire workday. The control switches and buttons
are easy to locate and use. The programming that
is required in agricultural and contracting work
today has been made straightforward and simple.
The doors are big, and you can set how far
you want them to open. They are kept open by
pneumatic struts. The grab handles for getting
into the cab are sturdy, and the floor of the cab
is level. Valtra cabs are particularly spacious and
offer excellent visibility through their darkened
windows. The width of the cab also makes it
easy to turn around when using the TwinTrac
reverse-drive controls. The steering column and
wheel can be adjusted, and the large steering
wheel offers excellent grip and feel for the driver.
The air-suspended seat rotates by 180-degrees
in tractors with the Twin Trac option. Operator
comfort is further emphasized by lighted steps
and a lighting delay in the cab.

Valtra TwinTrac
– work in both directions!
The Valtra factory-fitted TwinTrac reversedrive controls make working in both directions
convenient and efficient. The system includes a rear
steering wheel with electronic shuttle lever, plus
rear clutch, gas and brake pedals. Rear visibility to
the implement and working area is excellent. Many
tractor-implement combinations work best when
driven in reverse. The spacious cab is also ideal for
working in reverse. The air-suspended driver’s seat
rotates 180-degrees without having to get up.
Large implements are usually attached
to the rear. The TwinTrac reverse drive
system offers many advantages when
working in reverse.
Forest cab
Valtra also offers the option of a forest cab,
featuring a protective cage around the roof,
super-strong and large polycarbonate glass,
and an extra window above to the front.
Another window below to the rear further
increases visibility. In the corner of the window
is a triangular section that can be opened to
run wires neatly into the cab.
N Series tractors equipped with the forest cab
and TwinTrac reverse-drive controls are an
unbeatable combination for forest
contracting work.
15
Optional Equipment
Front PTO
Front PTO is available only with front 3-point hitch. The front PTO
is activated electrohydraulically by a switch on the right-side
panel. The rotating speed is 1,000 rpm. The front axle suspension
can be fitted together with the front PTO. The front PTO is fitted to
Valtra tractors at your local dealer.
Front 3-point hitch
The lifting capacity of the front 3-point hitch is 7,936 lbs. In many
cases, the front-lift system should also be accompanied with a
1,000 rpm front PTO depending on farm or contracting work. Using
implements attached to both ends of the tractor significantly
increases working efficiency and productivity. The front 3-point
hitch can also be specified with front axle suspension.
Front axle suspension
The Valtra hydropneumatic front axle suspension significantly
increases driving comfort. The suspension is at its best when
driving on roads or transporting, enabling fast transfer journeys
even on rough surfaces. For contractors, the front axle
suspension is the ideal solution thanks to its excellent driving
qualities. On fields, the suspension significantly increases
pulling efficiency by virtually eliminating power hop.
Cruise control
Cruise control is a useful option in many types of work, increasing
both driver comfort and work efficiency. The driver can set
the desired driving speed or PTO speed. The pre-set speed
is maintained automatically regardless of changes in load.
When turning in the headland or stopping work, the speed can
temporarily be returned to idle or other pre-set speed at the
push of a button. The working speed is then regained
automatically by pushing the button again. Cruise control
makes daily work simpler and faster. The quality and
productivity of work are also improved.

Valtra ISOBUS Technology
- Controlling implements is easier than ever
Valtra ISOBUS technology is an international standardized
system for communicating and sharing data between
the tractor and implement. An AGCO Global Technologies
Console I inside the cab is used to control and monitor
tractor and implement functions. ISOBUS technology
makes it easy to control
implements, especially
those with many
features and a high
level of automation.
The number of ISOBUS
compliant implements
on the market is
increasingly rapidly.

Servicing and maintenance
The modular design enables access to all major components
quickly and without disturbing the rest of the tractor. Valtra
is at the forefront in providing first-class service and support
for both tractor and driver. The Valtra N Series is designed for
easy maintenance and for long service intervals. The quantities
of oils used by the engine, transmission and hydraulics are
reduced. The engine oil change interval is 500 hours.
Routine servicing of the engine is carried out on the cool
side of the engine, where there is easy access to the cooling
system, air cleaner, oil and fuel filters. The conveniently
placed engine oil dipstick and filler are easy to handle. The
transmission oil level is easily checked and topped up via a
dipstick and wide necked filler. A large air cleaner is situated
under the hood. It is easy to access for servicing and free
from obstruction.
The fully openable hood gives free access to the radiators,
which can be hinged forwards or sideways for easy
cleaning. For hard conditions a pillar-mounted air intake is

Valtra Power Partner represents our promise that customers shall receive, in addition to
custom-built tractors that are tailor-made to meet their own individual needs, reliable
and fast maintenance and spare parts services that continue throughout the lifespan of
their tractor.
The Valtra Spare Parts Center is responsible for the training of our international servicing
and spare parts personnel. The advanced and efficient center provides spare parts and
servicing support throughout the world. Valtra user manuals represent the very best in
the tractor industry.
The Valtra Research and Development Center and brand-new tractor laboratory are
located together with the Suolahti tractor plant, where you will also find the Valtra
service training center and global Spare Parts Center.

Look for the labels Valtra Genuine Spare Parts or AGCO Parts on product packaging.
Our replacement parts are the same parts used to build new Valtra tractors. Genuine
spare parts help ensure the reliable and efficient operation of your tractor for as long
as you own it.
Golden Tractor for the Design
2003 and 2005
No less than 540,000 Valtra tractors have been built to date at our factories in Finland
and Brazil.
