Das neue KAHLA Lookbook
Ob in den eigenen vier Wänden oder in den Parks und Straßen der Stadt: Porzellan findet oft in den
Momenten im Leben statt, in denen wir uns und anderen etwas Gutes tun. Einige dieser Momente haben
die Fotografinnen und Fotografen dieses vierten KAHLA Lookbooks eingefangen.
Teils entstanden die Bilder mit dem jungen Berliner Fototeam skinnycouple und teils stammen sie vom
Leipziger Fotografen Peter Eichler oder von bekannten Food-Bloggern, mit denen KAHLA im engen Austausch
steht. Die Bedürfnisse derer, die gerne kochen und Gäste bewirten, sind schließlich der Maßstab, an dem
KAHLA seine Produktentwicklungen ausrichtet. Für die Nähe zum aktuellen Lebensgefühl garantieren auch
die Inhouse-Designerinnen Barbara Schmidt und Lisa Keller: „Wir brauchen immer wieder neue Lösungen,
weil sich die Welt dreht und weiterentwickelt. Weil die Dinge in diese Welt passen müssen – nicht immer
nur im funktionalen Sinn. Es ist wichtig, ein gutes Gefühl zu haben, wenn man sie gebraucht. Dass man
sie manchmal einfach nur gerne ansieht, anfasst und um sich hat“, sagt Schmidt.
Sich etwas Gutes tun, im hektischen Alltag: Das hat für viele Menschen heute auch mit Achtsamkeit und
Nachhaltigkeit zu tun. Und es entspricht auch der Haltung des Familienunternehmens KAHLA. Nicht die kurzfristige
Gewinnmaximierung steht im Vordergrund; vielmehr zielt das gesamte Handeln des Unternehmens auf eine
langfristige positive Entwicklung. Das heißt: ressourcenschonende Produktion in Deutschland, Vermeidung
langer Transportwege und Fairness am Arbeitsplatz – garantiert durch das „KAHLA pro Öko“ Siegel.

The New KAHLA Look Book
Whether within your own home or in the parks and streets of the city: porcelain often is present in the moments
of our life when we want to be good to ourselves and to others. Some of these moments were captured by the
photographers of this fourth KAHLA look book.
Some of the images were taken by skinnycouple, a young photo team from Berlin, some were taken by the
photographer Peter Eichler from Leipzig or by known food bloggers who have a close relationship with KAHLA.
The needs of those who love to cook and to host guests are the benchmark for product developments at KAHLA.
The relevance to the current way of life is also the focus of in-house designers Barbara Schmidt and Lisa Keller:
„We always need new solutions because the world is turning and constantly evolving. Objects have to fit into
this world – and not always only in terms of their functional aspects. It is important that it feels good to use these
objects. And that sometimes you just like to look at them, touch them and be surrounded by them“, says Schmidt.
Be good to yourself in our hectic everyday life: for many of us this also means mindfulness and sustainability.
And this also reflects the position of the family-owned enterprise KAHLA. The focus is not on quick profits; rather,
all actions of the company are aimed at a long-term development that has a positive impact. This means a
resource-friendly production in Germany, avoiding long-distance transports and ensuring fairness in the
workplace – all this is vouched for with the KAHLA pro Eco seal.

Für Freunde der feinen Küche und des
außergewöhnlichen Designs: Die vielfach
ausgezeichnete Gestalterin Barbara
Schmidt hat mit „O“ eine neue PorzellanKollektion entworfen, die zu geometrischen Tafel-Bildern inspiriert. Durch
einen gezielt gesetzten Knick entsteht
ein interessantes Spiel von Form und
Falte, Licht und Schatten. Nicht sofort
sicht- aber spürbar: An der Unterseite
der hochgeklappten Fläche verlaufen
feine Linienreliefs – für eine angenehme
Griffigkeit beim Servieren.
Folded like Paper
For lovers of fine dining and extraordinary design: with „O“, multi-award
winning designer Barbara Schmidt has
developed a new porcelain series, which
inspires geometric tablescapes. A distinct
fold creates a dramatic play of form and
fold, light and shadow. Not immediately
visible, but perceptible by touch: the
underside of the folded surface has fine
line reliefs – this way the porcelain rests
comfortably in the hand and provides a
secure grip.

Der To Go Becher ist heute zum urbanen Lifestyle-Accessoire schlechthin geworden.
In dieser Designer-Variante aus Porzellan
demonstriert er außerdem Umweltbewusstsein und Stilgefühl. Denn er wird von KAHLA
unter strengen ökologischen Prinzipien in
Deutschland hergestellt. Auffallend angenehm
ist das Trinkerlebnis. Mit oder ohne Deckel
stören weder Kanten noch Wülste. Ebenfalls
klug durchdacht: Ein unsichtbarer Silikonfuß
macht den Becher rutschfest und verhindert
Kratzer auf empfindlichen Oberflächen. Die
soft gerippte Magic Grip Banderole isoliert und
vereinfacht den Transport. Spülmaschinen- und
mikrowellenfest.
To Go with Style
The To Go cup is the urban lifestyle accessory
of today. This porcelain designer version also
demonstrates environmental awareness and a
sense of style. Because it is made by KAHLA in
Germany under strict environmental guidelines. The cup provides a noticeably pleasant
drinking experience. With or without lid, there
are no uncomfortable edges or seams. Another
clever feature: an invisible silicone foot makes
the cup slip-resistant and prevents scratches
on delicate surfaces. The softly ribbed Magic
Grip sleeve keeps the beverage hot and makes
carrying the cup easier. Dishwasher safe and
microwave safe.

Wild und wunderbar
Indoor-Gardening mal direkt bei Tisch: Der
Dekor „Wildblume“ mixt florale Motive mit voll
flächigem Aquarell-Blau, -Grün oder –Gelb zu
einem farbenprächtigen Blütenteppich. Ebenso
wie in der Natur sind die Illustrationen auf dem
Porzellan unterschiedlich gruppiert: Mal stehen
einzelne, zarte Stängel zusammen, mal über
zieht eine ganze, bunte Wiese den Tellerrand.
Wildblume lädt aber auch zum Nachdenken ein:
Denn Designerin Lisa Keller hat gezielt Pflanzen
ausgesucht, die immer seltener in freier Natur
zu sehen sind.
Wild and Wonderful
Indoor gardening at the table: the “Wildblume”
décor combines floral patterns with full-surface
watercolour blue, watercolour green or water
colour yellow to form a magnificent carpet of
blossoms. Just like in real nature, the illustra
tions on the porcelain are grouped in different
ways: here, individual delicate stems cluster in
small groups; there they cover the rim of the
plate with a colourful meadow. But “Wildblume” also provides food for thought: designer
Lisa Keller specifically chose plants that are
becoming increasingly rare in the wild.

Geschirr im „Obst-Pelz“
Sieht zum Reinbeißen aus, doch bei den „Frechen Früchtchen“ von KAHLA handelt es sich um robustes
Hartporzellan. Durch fotorealistische Dekor und ungewöhnliche Oberflächen-Techniken verwandeln sich
die Gefäße in beliebte Obstsorten. Die Schalen – im doppelten Wortsinn – sind denen ihrer Vorbildern
nachempfunden: rau wie eine Kokosnuss mit kräftigen Fasern, zart changierend wie Pfirsichhaut oder
fein behaart wie eine Kiwi. Ergänzend gibt es Spezial-Sortiment für Obst und Gemüse in frischen Farben:
Perfekt für Smoothies und Säfte, Salate oder Obstkuchen.

Tableware in „Fruit Skins“
They might look good enough to eat, but KAHLA‘s Fruity Beauties are made from durable hard-paste
porcelain. Photo-realistic décors and novel surface technologies transform the tableware into popular
types of fruit. The outside of the fruit bowls is inspired by their real-life counterparts: rough with coarse
fibres like a coconut, velvety in changing colours like the skin of a peach, fine fuzzy hair like a kiwifruit.
In addition, there is a special product line for fruit and vegetables in fresh colours: perfect for smoothies
and juices, salads or fruit tarts.

Ein paar Minuten, nur für mich
Immer mehr Menschen sehnen sich nach „Slow
Living“, nach Handarbeit und Individualität. Für
sie ist „Mein Teemoment“ von KAHLA gemacht.
Die Kollektion besteht aus Porzellan-Unikaten,
die in den natürlichen Farben heimischer Tees
schimmern. Unter den drei Farbglasuren, die an
Pfefferminze, Hibiskus und Kamille erinnern,
zeichnen sich zierliche Blattmotive ab. Sie werden in Thüringen von Hand auf das rohe Porzellan gestempelt und dann glasiert. So wird jedes
Geschirr-Teil zum individuellen Lieblingsstück.
Passend dazu gibt es doppelwandige Teegläser
sowie Becher mit samtweicher, isolierender
touch! Banderole.
A Few Minutes just to Myself
More and more people desire a slower way of
living and are looking for handmade objects
and a personalized style. It is for those people
that KAHLA created My Tea Moment. The series
consists of one-of-a-kind porcelain pieces
in the natural colours of home-grown teas.
Delicate leaf designs become visible under the
three coloured glazes that remind of pepper
mint, hibiscus and chamomile. These designs
are stamped on the porcelain body by hand in
Thuringia before the pieces are glazed. This way,
every piece of tableware becomes a unique special personal favourite. Also part of the series
are matching double-walled tea glasses and
cups with a velvety insulating touch! sleeve.

Die „Glanzlichter“ von KAHLA verbreiten in der
kalten Jahreshälfte festliche Stimmung. Das
Porzellan-Sortiment verbindet ausgewählte
Einzelstücke mit irisierendem Perlmutt oder
zarten Wintermotiven und stellt sie vor einen
dunkelblauen, grauen oder anthrazitfarbenen
Hintergrund. Glatte, glänzende Oberflächen
kontrastieren mit Holz sowie matt-samtigen,
teils textilen Strukturen. Ein elegantes Porzellan, das sich für Weihnachten und Silvester
ebenso eignet wie fürs Candlelight-Dinner.
Bringing Light into the Darkness
KAHLA’s Highlights at the Table bring a festive
atmosphere into the winter season. The porcelain series combines select individual pieces
with an iridescent shimmer or delicate winter
designs and places them against a dark-blue,
grey or charcoal-coloured background. Smooth,
shiny surfaces contrast with wood and with
matte-velvety, partially textile structures.
