Vor vier Jahren waren wir eine kleine Gruppe von Freunden, die sich traf, um
gemeinsam zu musizieren und mit Musik zu experimentieren. Heute ist das
,Lyceum Mozartiano de La Habana‘ mehr als das. Es ist eine große Familie,
die zusammenkommt, um über das Leben zu reden – über Träume, über
Trauriges und Fröhliches. Bei jeder Probe und bei jedem Konzert können sich
deren Mitglieder, von den Jüngsten bis zu den Erfahrensten, vollkommen
aufeinander verlassen. Das haben wir bis heute erreicht – und wir sind
überzeugt davon, dass die Zukunft noch besser werden wird.

4 years ago we were a small group of friends who met up to enjoy playing and
experimenting with music. Today the ‘Lyceum Mozartiano de La Habana’ is
something more. It is a large family unite by talking about our lives, dreams,
sorrows and joys; where at each rehearsal or concert, every member from the
youngest to the most experienced is nurtured by their peers. This is what we
are today and we are convinced that the future will be even better.
Hace 4 años éramos un pequeño grupo de amigos que se reunía por el placer
de tocar y de experimentar con la música. Hoy la Orquesta del ‘Lyceum
Mozartiano de la Habana’ es algo más, es una gran familia unida para hablar
de la vida, sus sueños, tristezas y alegrías; donde en cada ensayo o concierto
cada miembro de esta familia, desde el más pequeño hasta el más
experimentado, se nutre de sus compañeros. Esto es lo que somos

Das Kuba-Projekt der Stiftung Mozarteum Salzburg
“
In kaum einer Region der Welt gibt es so viele talentierte
Nachwuchsmusiker wie in Kuba, gerade dort wird Mozart
besonders hoch geschätzt. Wir leisten einen Beitrag zum
Ausbau des Bildungsangebotes und versuchen so, diesem
enormen Potenzial zur Geltung zu verhelfen.

Die Musik als Ausdruck nationaler Identität gewinnt im Zuge der fortschreitenden Öffnung Kubas zunehmend an
Bedeutung. Kuba und seine kulturellen
wie auch wissenschaftlichen Einrichtungen unternehmen zahlreiche Anstrengungen, musikalische Gattungen
wie Son Cubano, Bolero, Rumba, Jazz
und Volksmusik zu bewahren und zu
entwickeln.
Für die europäisch-klassische Musik
hingegen findet dieser Prozess in Kuba
nur bedingt statt. Die spezifischen Bedürfnisse für die Darbietung dieser
Musikgattung stoßen mit den technischen Beschränkungen, einer nicht
ausreichenden akademischen Ausbildung, einem eingeschränkten Zugang
zu Bibliographien und Partituren, der
fehlenden Erfahrung im Bereich Kulturmanagement sowie anderen strukturellen Problemen an ihre Grenzen.
„Kuba ist ein außergewöhnlicher, symbolträchtiger Ort. Europäische Musik
spielt dort seit langer Zeit eine große
Rolle. Wir können mit der neu gegründeten Mozartgesellschaft, dem Lyceum
Mozartiano de la Habana, entscheidende Impulse geben, insbesondere dass
klassische Musik, vor allen Dingen
Mozart, wieder besser in Kuba verankert wird“, so Matthias Schulz, künstlerischer Leiter und kaufmännischer
Geschäftsführer der Stiftung Mozarteum
Salzburg.
Was im Jahr 2007 mit der Übergabe
einer Mozart-Büste begann, hat mittlerweile seine Kreise bis nach Brüssel
gezogen. Für einen Zeitraum von drei
Jahren hat die EU zugesichert, rund
75 Prozent der Projektkosten in Höhe
von 530.000 Euro mittels Fördermittel abzudecken. Dass die EU für ein
Projekt in einem realsozialistischen
Land eine derartige Summe in die
Hand nimmt, hat neben der musikalischen und kulturpolitischen besonders auch eine strukturelle Bedeutung.
Der Stiftung Mozarteum Salzburg wird
durch die EU-Förderung der Auf- und
Ausbau einer beispielgebenden Mozartgesellschaft, dem Lyceum Mozartiano,
ermöglicht. Herzstück dieser unabhängigen kulturellen Einrichtung ist

Das Projekt startete offiziell im Oktober 2012 und wurde im November 2012
mit einem Eröffnungskonzert in Havanna gefeiert. Im Herbst 2015 ist ein
kubanisches „Mozart-Fest“ als Abschlussveranstaltung geplant. Hier
wird sich der Facettenreichtum des
Projekts erschließen und im besten
Fall karibische Lebensfreude mit der
Transparenz und Eleganz der Wiener
Klassik verbinden.

eine Orchesterschule, die in enger Zusammenarbeit mit der dortigen Kunstund Musikuniversität „Instituto Superior de Arte“ sowie dem Büro des Stadthistorikers Dr. Eusebio Leal realisiert
wird. Neben der Weiterbildung der Musiker steht der Aufbau einer öffentlich
zugänglichen Mediathek im Fokus des
Projekts. Der eingeschränkte Zugang
zu Bibliographien und Partituren soll
dadurch verbessert werden. Darüber
hinaus sollen Erfahrung und Wissen im
Kultur- und Orchestermanagement vermittelt und gebündelt werden, damit
das Lyceum Mozartiano auch als Konzertveranstalter eigenständig tätig werden kann. Ein weiterer wichtiger Projektpartner ist die Universität Mozarteum Salzburg, die von Beginn an den

The project was officially launch in

festive inauguration concert in Havana
in November 2012. A Cuban “Mozart
Festival” is being planned for the
autumn of 2015 as the closing event.

La música como expresión de la identidad nacional adquiere en Cuba un
significado cada vez mayor a consecuencia de la apertura progresiva de
este país. Junto con sus instituciones
culturales y científicas, Cuba realiza
esfuerzos numerosos para preservar y
desarrollar la manifestación de géneros
musicales tales como el son cubano, el
bolero, la rumba, el jazz y la música
popular.
En cambio, en el ámbito de la música
clásica europea este proceso tiene
lugar sólo de un modo relativo. Las
necesidades específicas para la expresión de este género musical se ven
claramente restringidas por las limitaciones técnicas, una formación académica insuficiente, un acceso limitado
a bibliografías y partituras, la falta de
experiencia en el área de la gestión de
actos culturales y otros problemas
estructurales.

europea tiene allí un papel importante
desde hace mucho tiempo. Mediante el
Lyceum Mozartiano de la Habana y la
Sociedad Mozart nuevamente fundada,
seremos capaces de dar impulsos decisivos para que la música clásica
europea y sobre todo la música de
Mozart se establezca aún mejor en
Cuba”, opina Matthias Schulz, director
artístico y comercial de la Fundación
Mozarteum de Salzburgo.
Lo que en 2007 comenzara con la inauguración de un busto de Mozart ha
ampliado entretanto su círculo de influencia hasta Bruselas. La UE ha garantizado el financiamento de alrededor
de un 75 por ciento de los costos del
proyecto por valor de 530.000 euros
mediante subvenciones por espacio de
tres años. El que la UE desembolse una
suma semejante para un proyecto en
un estado socialista posee además de
un significado musical y político-cultural especialmente uno estructural.
Gracias a la subvención de la UE, la
Fundación Mozarteum de Salzburgo
será capaz de encargarse de la creación
y consolidación de una Sociedad Mozart
que sirva de modelo. El núcleo de esta
institución cultural independiente es
una orquesta escuela realizada en
estrecha colaboración con el Instituto
Superior de Arte local y la oficina del
historiador de la ciudad Dr. Eusebio
Leal. Además de la formación complementaria de los músicos, uno de los
focos del proyecto es la creación de
una mediateca abierta al público. De
ese modo se pretende que mejore el
acceso a bibliografías y partituras,
hasta ahora limitado. Además, en el
Lyceum Mozartiano se han de reunir y
transmitir experiencias y conocimientos en el área de la gestión de actos
culturales y orquestas, de modo que el
Lyceum Mozartiano pueda actuar como
organizador de conciertos independiente. Otra colaboradora importante
de este proyecto es la Universidad
Mozarteum de Salzburgo, que ha fomentado decisivamente desde el principio
el intercambio entre sus profesores y
los estudiantes cubanos.

apertura. En otoño de 2015 se planea
realizar una “fiesta Mozart” cubana
como acto de conclusión. Esta explotará la riqueza de facetas del proyecto
y unirá idealmente la alegría de vivir
caribeña a la transparencia y elegancia
del clasicismo vienés.

The “Sociedad Patrimonio, Comunidad y Medio Ambiente” is a non-profit
organisation founded in 2004. Its objectives include a comprehensive restoration
of Havana, especially the city’s historical centre. The Sociedad collaborates with
various initiatives dedicated to the restoration and revitalisation of Havana. To
that end, the Socieded manages and coordinates the widest variety of projects
in culture, environment and society. It also organises a programme for promoting
and integrating young talents from various artistic areas by supporting them in
their domestic work and facilitating their cultural progression.
“Patrimonio, Comunidad y Medio Ambiente” es una Sociedad de carácter civil,
sin ánimos de lucro, creada en 2004. Esta Sociedad agrupa personas interesadas
en la rehabilitación integral de la Ciudad de La Habana, con especial énfasis
en el Centro Histórico. La Sociedad coopera con toda iniciativa que favorezca
el proyecto sociocultural, de rehabilitación, revitalización, promoción y manejo
de la ciudad de La Habana, así como los mecanismos de planeamiento y gestión.
Para ello la Sociedad gestiona y coordina proyectos de diversa naturaleza en el
campo del patrimonio, el medio ambiente y la comunidad habanera, así como
acciones de capacitación y sensibilización en los temas afines con los diferentes

The ‘Lyceum Mozartiano de La Habana’ is a newly created social and cultural

Die Universität Mozarteum Salzburg ist eine der international bekanntesten
Musikuniversitäten Österreichs und bietet mehr als 40 Studiengänge für 1600
Studenten an. Sie arbeitet eng mit der Stiftung Mozarteum und dem ISA, einer
Ihrer Partneruniversiäten, zusammen. Für das Projekt stellt die Universität
hochrangige Professoren zur Verfügung, um Workshops und Schulungen im
Rahmen der klassischen europäischen Musik durchzuführen. Sie verfügt über
eine langjährige Erfahrung beim künstlerischen Austausch, die unentbehrlich
für den Aufbau eines erstklassigen Orchesters ist. Sie vergibt Stipendien für
Ferienkurse an kubanische Studenten und kümmert sich im Rahmen ihrer
Möglichkeiten um Stipendien für komplette Studien.
Das „Instituto Superior de Arte“ (ISA) mit seinen rund 1.400 Studenten ist die
wichtigste Institution für die musikalische Ausbildung in Kuba. Gemeinsam mit
der Stiftung Mozarteum Salzburg hat das ISA 2009 das Konzept für das Projekt
des Schulorchesters entwickelt und mit dem Lyceum einen Ort für seine Umsetzung gefunden. Der Großteil der Studenten des Orchesters kommt vom ISA.
Die Kunst- und Musikuniversität kümmert sich auch um die Auswahl der Studenten, stellt qualifizierte Mitarbeiter bereit, die als Professoren die jungen Musiker des Orchesters und die eigenen Studenten ausbilden sowie als Berater bei
der Aktualisierung der Studieninhalte für die Konzertmusiker tätig sind.

The “Mozarteum University Salzburg” is one of Austria’s internationally bestknown universities for music, offering more than 40 courses of study for 1600
students. It collaborates closely with the Salzburg Mozarteum Foundation and
the ISA, one of its partner universities. The university makes high-ranking professors available for the project to perform workshops and training sessions for
European classical music. It has extensive experience in artistic exchanges,
which is indispensable to building a first-class orchestra. It provides scholarships to Cuban students for holiday courses and also works to the extent of its
capabilities to promote comprehensive studies.
UNIVERSIDAD MOZARTEUM DE SALZBURG
La “Universidad Mozarteum de Salzburg” es una de las universidades más
conocidas a nivel internacional de Austria para la música, posee una matrícula
de unos 1600 estudiantes y más de 40 asignaturas, ha tenido una estrecha
colaboración con la Fundación Mozarteum y el ISA. En el proyecto la Universidad aportará profesores de alto rango para impartir los talleres y los entrenamientos en el ámbito de la música clásica europea. Brindará la experiencia de
largos años en el intercambio artístico, que es imprescindible para el logro de
un nivel superior de la orquesta. Adjudicará becas de verano para los estudiantes
cubanos y en la medida de sus posibilidades gestionará becas para estudios
completos.
The “Instituto Superior de Arte” (ISA), with its about 1400 students, is the most
important institution for music education in Cuba. Together with the Salzburg
Mozarteum Foundation, the ISA developed the concept of a school orchestra
project, finding a venue for its realisation with the Lyceum. The majority of
students in the orchestra come from the ISA, which handles student selection.
It also provides qualified employees who function as professors, training the
orchestra’s young musicians and their own students, additionally functioning
as consultants for updating study materials for concert musicians.
El “Instituto Superior de Arte” (ISA) con aprox. 1400 estudiantes, es la institución más importante para la formación musical en Cuba. Junto con Fundación
Mozarteum, el ISA desarrolló en el 2009 el concepto para el proyecto de la
Orquesta Escuela, el cual encuentra en el Lyceum un lugar para su desarrollo.
La mayor parte de los estudiantes de la orquesta proviene del ISA. El mismo
se encargará de la selección de estos estudiantes. A su vez, aportará el personal
capacitado para fungir como profesores en la formación de los jóvenes músicos
integrantes de la orquesta y de los propios estudiantes, así como también, como
asesor la actualización de los contenidos de la asignatura para la formación de
músicos de atril sinfónico.
