Die Paperworld 2013 zeigt eine neue Hallenstruktur. Wie kam
es dazu?
„Analog zum PBS-Markt, der ebenfalls in einem stetigen Wandel ist,
entwickelt sich auch die Paperworld als wichtigster Branchentreffpunkt weiter – wir drehen frühzeitig an den Stellschrauben und passen uns an die veränderten Marktbedingungen an. Durch Gespräche
mit Ausstellern, die Beobachtung des Marktes und die Analyse der
Besucherbefragung hat sich für uns eine Optimierung der Produktzusammenstellung innerhalb der Paperworld ergeben.“
Welche Vorteile bringt die neue Hallen- und Produktbereichsaufteilung Ausstellern und Besuchern?
„Für Besucher haben die veränderte Hallenordnung und die neue Produktzusammenstellung viele Vorteile. Es kommt zu einer Konzentration des Angebots, zu neuen Synergien und Kombinationsmöglichkeiten und – ganz praktisch gesprochen – zu kürzeren Wegen auf
dem Messegelände. Die Aussteller profitieren von Synergien zu verwandten Produktgruppen und können mit neuen Geschäftskontakten
rechnen.“
Mit welchen weiteren Maßnahmen gehen Sie auf die konkreten Besucher- und Ausstellerwünsche ein?
„Zahlreiche neue Ideen haben wir auch in die Gestaltung unserer
Sonderpräsentationen und das Rahmenprogramm einfließen lassen,
um neue Zielgruppen anzusprechen. Beispielsweise wird es einen
Vortragstag für Assistentinnen geben und eine Sonderschau für
Buchhändler. Die Kundenprogramme Paperworld Insider für Facheinzelhändler und Paperworld Procurement für Großeinkäufer haben
sich etabliert, werden gut angenommen und spielen eine wichtige
Rolle, um Einkaufspotenzial auf die Messe zu bringen.“
Welche Highlights sollten die Besucher auf keinen Fall verpassen?
„Die Trendschau in Halle 6.1 ist die Plattform, um die Farben, Designs
und Trends der Saison 2013/14 zu erleben. Sie ist das absolute Highlight der Paperworld und erste Anlaufstelle, um Neuheiten zu entdecken. Die eben erwähnte neue Sonderschau speziell für Buchhänd-

Paperworld 2013 has a new hall structure. Why?
“In line with the market for paper, office supplies and stationery, which
is in a constant state of flux, Paperworld also continues to develop as
the most important meeting place for the sector. Hence, we endeavour
to make adjustments at an early stage and adapt to changes in the
market. As a result of discussions with exhibitors, market observations
and the analysis of the visitor poll, we saw that the time had come to
optimise the combination of product groups at Paperworld.”
What advantage does the new hall and combination of
products groups have for exhibitors and visitors?
“For visitors, the modified hall structure and the new combination of
product groups offer a variety of advantages. They have not only led to
a concentration of the various segments, to new synergistic effects
and combination options but also, from a highly practical perspective,
to shorter walking distances at the Exhibition Centre. Exhibitors benefit
from the synergies generated by related product groups and can expect
to make new business contacts.”
Which measures have you taken to satisfy the specific wishes
of visitors and exhibitors?
“To appeal to new target groups, we have used many new ideas for
our special presentations and the complementary programme. For
example, there is a day of lectures for assistants and a special exhibition for book dealers. Our two special programmes – Paperworld
Insider for specialist retailers and Paperworld Procurement for wholesale buyers – are now established, have been well received and play
an important role in attracting purchasing power to the fair.”

eingereicht – der Besucher kann im Foyer 5.1/6.1 die schönste Karte
wählen.“

What highlights are musts for visitors?
“The Trend Show in Hall 6.1 presents the latest colours, designs and
trends for the 2013/14 season. It is the top highlight of the fair and the
first place to go to discover new products. The new special exhibition
for book dealers mentioned above – ‘Mr Books & Mrs Paper’ – shows
how non-book articles can be displayed together with books. Also new
is ‘Quick and easy ways to wrap with the WOW factor’ a presentation
at which packaging artist Arona Khan offers tips on wrapping articles
in an appealing way. This year, the greeting card design competition
not only gives young people a chance to make their mark but also celebrates its tenth anniversary. Numerous design students have entered
their greeting card designs and visitors can vote for their favourite at
the exhibition in the foyer of Halls 5.1 / 6.1.”

plastic; the tape is also solution-free. Quick and easy, as we are all
used to from Tesafilm, it rolls off the adhesive tape and cuts it precisely with a sharp blade. It sits perfectly in the hand, but this compact
little piece nevertheless fits into every pocket. Just as colourful as the
roller, the new “ecoLogo” Tesa mini correction roller comes in
pink, blue, yellow and green. This little helper against gremlins in texts
with 5 mm wide correction tape is also produced 100 % from recycled
plastic.
The new eco-utensils from Novus make for real eye-catchers
on the desk. The company has also paid attention here to both modern
design and the eco-image. “Natural beauty for the office” is the motto
for products such as the “Novus B 4” stapler or the “Novus B 225”
hole puncher. The design parts of these utensils are the actual special feature. They are made from a CO2-neutralising wood-plastic compound material. This substance is extremely robust and long-life, and
can be returned to nature after its long-life use.
Supported by its long years of experience with inks and
colours, Edding recently introduced an extensive printer cartridge
range to the market. It will present a range extension at Paperworld
2013. For the first time it will offer the retail trade recycled toner
cartridges for laser printers. These will at first replace 44 trade
standard original cartridges from manufacturers, Brother, HP and
Samsung. Edding is setting up a take back system for recycling, which
retailers can use free of charge and without complication.

country and specifically support family-run retail with joint activities.
This social responsibility is, however, in particular an argument for bigger commercial customers to also draw on the products of domestic
brand manufacturers.

You are in the Office Gold Club. What benefits does this bring
for you, for buyers, opinion leaders and decision-makers?
The Office Gold Club motto is “Together for more efficiency”. Some
7,500 members from the commercial office procurement area are
registered with us. We communicate with them directly and without
any diversions, in the most diverse ways. We present our brand
products and innovations, and together with the decision-makers we
determine specific requirements, as well as company-specific
solutions. Implementation is performed together with the OGC partner
retailers, who ultimately deliver and provide further assistance. More
than 20 important brand manufacturers are now OGC participants.
What new products will Maul present at Paperworld?
We’re presenting about 40 new products. The MAUL brand represents
innovative niche products for the office workstation. These include LED
lights such as the dimmable “MAULpure“, and others. You will find us
in hall 3.0 B14. We will also be presenting ourselves and our products
on the Monday together with all other Office Gold Club members at
Paperworld Procurement in hall 4.0.

In Zeiten industrieller Massenware haben handwerklich
hergestellte PBS-Artikel nicht nur eine Nische, sondern
regelrecht Konjunktur. Ein Trend, von dem auch der Handel
profitiert.
„Durch das Prädikat Handmade in Germany hat der Fachhandel ein
gutes Verkaufsargument, kann eine Geschichte erzählen und Emotionen zum Produkt übermitteln“, ist Michael Gutberlet, Geschäftsführer
der h & m gutberlet gmbh, überzeugt. Das Unternehmen lässt die
exklusiven Schreibfedern der Marke Kaweco bewusst von der Heidelberger Manufaktur Peter Bock handfertigen. „Bock-Federn sind
Markenartikel und unterstützen das Marketingkonzept von Kaweco“,
so Michael Gutberlet.
Hochwertige Artikel Made in Germany stützen nicht nur das
Image der Marke, sondern auch des Produktionslandes. Um dies zu
fördern und ihre Interessen zu bündeln, haben Betriebe wie Peter
Bock neben Möbel-, Schuh-, Leuchten- oder Instrumenten-Herstellern die Initiative Deutsche Manufakturen ins Leben gerufen.
Auch das Nürnberger Traditionsunternehmen Faber-Castell hat
sich jüngst der Initiative angeschlossen. Gemeinsam mit den
anderen Mitgliedern will Faber-Castell das Symbol „Handmade in
Germany“ als Bewahrer der Qualität weltweit in den Mittelpunkt von
Kommunikation und Marketing rücken. „Das Label Made in Germany
gilt insbesondere in Asien als Qualitätssiegel und zieht gerade im
Luxus- und Premiumsegment immer mehr Käufer an“, erklärt der Vorstandsvorsitzende Anton-Wolfgang Graf von Faber-Castell. Das
internationale Unternehmen fertigt Produkte nach wie vor in
Deutschland, die ein besonderes Herstellungs-Know-how erfordern,
wie zum Beispiel hochwertige Künstlerartikel sowie die exklusiven
Schreibgeräte und Accessoires der Graf von Faber-Castell Collection.
„Vor allem unsere ausländischen Kunden schätzen unser

In these days of industrial bulk goods, manually-produced
paper, office supplies and stationery products not only
have a niche – they also very much generate economic
activity. A trend that retail is also profiting from.
“With the ‘Handmade in Germany’ predicate, specialist retail has a
great sales argument, can tell a story and stir emotions on the product,” says a truly convinced Michael Gutberlet, General Manager of
h & m gutberlet gmbh. The company very specifically has the exclusive
Kaweco brand pens handmade by Heidelberg manufacturer,
Peter Bock. “Bock pens are brand products and support the Kaweco
marketing concept,” says Michael Gutberlet.
Top-quality Made in Germany products support both the
brand’s image and the country of production. To promote this and to
bundle their interests, companies like Peter Bock have put life into the
German Manufacturers’ Initiative together with furniture, shoe, lamp
or utensil manufacturers. The rich-in-tradition Nuremberg company,
Faber-Castell, recently joined this initiative. Together with the other
members, Faber-Castell intends to push the ‘Handmade in Germany’
symbol into the global communication and marketing centre of focus
as a guarantee of quality. “Especially in Asia, the ‘Made in Germany’
label is seen as a seal of approval, and in particular attracts more
buyers in the luxury and premium segment,” explains Anton-Wolfgang
Graf, Faber-Castell’s Chairman. The international company continues
to produce products in Germany, which require special manufacturing
know-how, such as top-quality artist products and the exclusive writing instruments and accessories of the Graf von Faber-Castell collection.
“Our overseas customers in particular appreciate our Made in
Germany,” endorses Martina Brückner. She is General Manager at
Goldbuch, a producer of top-quality stationery based on classic book
Qualitätsanspruch mehr zu bezahlen“, so Martina Brückner. Handarbeit ist für sie jedoch nicht nur eine Imagefrage. „Für viele unserer
Handarbeitsschritte müsste erst eine entsprechende Maschine
erfunden werden, die dies mit derselben Sorgfalt wie unsere Mitarbeiter machen kann“, begründet es die Goldbuch-Geschäftsführerin.
„Beim Stoffüberzug oder der dekorativen Schleife braucht es einfach
die Meisterhand. Neben dem hohen Qualitätsanspruch zählt die Liebe
zum Detail.“ Fast alle der rund 2.000 Artikel des Bamberger Unternehmens entstehen in reiner Handarbeit – vom Notizbuch über das
Poesiealbum bis hin zur Schulserie.
„Trotz Automatisierung ist auch an unseren Papiermaschinen
viel per Hand zu leisten. Vom genauen Augenmaß über die richtige
Farbzusammensetzung bis hin zur Kontrolle am Ende der Produktionskette“, macht es Caroline Pastor von der Büttenpapierfabrik Gmund
deutlich und ergänzt: „Durch die Handarbeit in der Produktion können
wir auch flexible Sonderanfertigungen sowie ganz besondere Naturpapiere herstellen, etwa mit Einschlüssen von Biertreibern, echten
Federn, feinen Silberpartikeln oder Torf.“ Auch den Aspekt der Nachhaltigkeit schätzen die Kunden an dem Unternehmen aus Gmund am
Tegernsee. Caroline Pastor weiß: „Gmund Paper ist nachweislich
umweltfreundlich hergestellt und hat dadurch einen höheren Preis.
Die Kunden fördern durch den Kauf gezielt umweltbewusste Betriebe.“

2,000 products of the Bamberg based company are handmade, from
notebook to poetry album, through to the school series.
“Despite automation, we still have plenty to do by hand on
our paper machines. From precise visual judgement to correct colour
composition, through to controls at the end of the production chain,”
clarifies Caroline Pastor from Büttenpapierfabrik Gmund and adds:
“With our handwork in production we can also produce flexible special
productions and very special natural papers, with the inclusion of
spent grains, real feathers, fine silver particles or peat, for example.”
Customers also appreciate the sustainability aspect of the company
based in Gmund am Tegernsee, Germany. Caroline Pastor knows:
“Gmund Paper is proven to produce environmentally friendly and this
gives it high value. The customers specifically promote environmentally
aware companies by buying from us.”

Ein „Doorman“ begrüßt die Kunden am Eingang und gibt Tipps und

The retail trade must redefine its USP in these days of growing online
competition. The customer not only wants an immediately available
range they can reach out to and touch – they also want brand and
experience worlds, and, of course, competent advice as well. With its
recently redesigned Munich head office on over 2,000 square meters
in Rosenstraße, Kaut-Bullinger is demonstrating how theses increasing
expectations can be met.
Three of the five floors have been completely renovated.
A continuous window front opens onto the pedestrian zone from the
ground floor right up to the second floor, providing views in from the
outside, and awarding the respective rooms bright daylight. A doorman
greets the customers at the entrance and gives tips and assistance.
Ceilings, floors and fittings have been completely redesigned in the
interior of the converted floors.
Clearly structured range worlds simplify orientation. Harmonised with
the respective display window decoration, target groups and theme
worlds are arranged as close-ups on fabric-covered stelae. The new
store branding includes a blue horizontal line as connecting “bracket”
across the product carriers, which also include the brand manufacturers. “The message is: Kaut-Bullinger is a house of strong manufacturer
brands,” explains Jürgen Diebold, Kaut-Bullinger Retail General
Manager.

Neu ist auch das Beleuchtungskonzept. Die Räume erstrahlen jetzt in einem angenehm taghellen und farbechten LED-Licht.
„Durch das Licht wird die Ware stets in ihren echten Farben wahrgenommen. Unsere Kunden schätzen dies besonders bei der Auswahl
von Farben, Farbstiften und Künstlerbedarf“, so Jürgen Diebold.
Die Produkte erscheinen buchstäblich im rechten Licht. Und sie
können auf eine neue Art erlebt werden.
Beispielhaft für die Themenwelten ist der Bereich der Grußund Glückwunschkarten: Über 2.000 Motive wurden im sogenannten
„Kartengarten“ augenfällig und übersichtlich arrangiert. Eine vorbildliche Markeninszenierung gelang zum Beispiel mit Caran d’Ache:
In einer eigenen „Farbenbar“ laden die Produkte dazu ein, sie anzufassen und auszuprobieren. Direkt gegenüber befindet sich eine Cafébar, die zum Entspannen und Verweilen einlädt. Eine weitere Inszenierungs-Idee wurde mit der LED-hinterleuchteten Schulranzenwand
verwirklicht, die die Schultaschen bestens in Szene setzt. Produkten
wie Trendtaschen, iPhone- und iPad-Zubehör widmet Kaut-Bullinger
eigene Themenwelten. Im neuen digitalen Fotoshop finden die Kunden Terminals zum Sofortbilddruck sowie zur unmittelbaren Erstellung von Fotobüchern.
Ein wesentliches Element der neu gestalteten Verkaufsräume ist Digital Signage. Auf 10 unterschiedlichen Monitoren im
Schaufenster, an den Aufzugsportalen und in den Aufzügen erhält
der Betrachter Informationen zu neuen Produkten, Sonderaktionen,
Veranstaltungen, Dienstleistungen und zu anderen Unternehmensbereichen von Kaut-Bulliger.
The lighting concept is also new. The rooms now shine in a
pleasant day-bright and colourfast LED light. “The light allows the
products to be perceived in their true colours. Our customers especially
appreciate this with the selection of colours, coloured pens and art
supplies,” Jürgen Diebold adds. The products literally appear in real
light. As such, they can be experienced in a new way.
The greeting and congratulation cards area is exemplary of
the theme worlds. More than 2,000 motifs are on display in the “card
garden“ in an eye-catching and yet structured manner. A role model
brand staging, for example, is achieved with Caran d’Ache. The products invite you to touch and try them out in a “colours bar”. A café bar
sits directly opposite. Here, visitors can relax and enjoy their stay.
A further staging idea has been realized with the LED-backlit school
bag wall – here, school bags are displayed at their best. Kaut-Bullinger
dedicates own theme worlds to products such as trendy bags, iPhone
and iPad accessories. In the new digital photo shop, customers have
terminals at their disposal for printing images and designing photo
books in a jiffy.
Digital Signage is another essential element of Kaut
Bullinger’s newly designed head office. On 10 different screens,
placed in the show windows, the elevator portals and the elevators
themselves, the visitor is given information on new products, special
promotions, events, service offers and other corporate areas of
Kaut-Bullinger.

Be enchanted, feel good and enjoy an evening with all senses –
this has been the aim of the Tigerpalast Varieté Theater in the
heart of Frankfurt for the last 25 years. Today, the fascination of
live entertainment with orchestra, chanson, cabaret and breathtaking artistry is no less vital than ever before.
As in previous years, the focus of this year’s springsummer revue is on the aesthetic aspects of archetypal variety
acts. George Schlick is one of the world’s leading ventriloquists and
he has been the star guest at innumerable big and small theatres
around the globe. By way of contrast, Darkan’s act is not to be seen
on the stage but under the ceiling of the Tigerpalast Varieté Theater.
It is no exaggeration to say this highly talented artist from
Kazakhstan actually flies over the heads of the audience – at least
using the ropes hanging from the ceiling. Cheeky and humorous,
emotive, charming and irresistible – that’s Alix Dudel, a classic
cabaret artist who presents the evening’s world stars with an ironic sense of humour and great elegance. These and many other
exceptional artists will be appearing daily, except Monday, at the
Tigerpalast Varieté Theater, which begins on 13 February 2013.
