KENRICK-GLENNON SEMINARY
PROUDLY PRESENTS
CONVIVIUM
2014
Dear Friends,
Welcome to Convivium 2014!
It is such a joy to be with you this evening. Convivium is a true
celebration of our seminarians and an affirmation that
hundreds of people believe in and support their vocations.
We are honored to have you as part of our community!
Our seminarians are learning to fall in love with God and
abide in His love. In turn, they will spread this love to the
faithful in the Archdiocese of St. Louis and other dioceses
around the nation.
Tonight you will have the opportunity to help fund a special
need: the Holy Land Retreat and Pilgrimage. Each January, the
diaconate class has a unique opportunity to walk in the
footsteps of Christ. Your financial and prayerful support will
help make this experience possible.
I hope that you have a wonderful evening at Convivium. Be
assured of my prayers of gratitude as we walk together into a
future full of hope for Kenrick-Glennon Seminary.
Gratefully in Christ,
Father John Horn, S.J.

GENERAL INFORMATION
Patrons are asked to view the auction’s policies and procedures with this in mind, and to join in the charitable
spirit of this event.
PURCHASE INFORMATION
The bank will open at 9:00 P.M.
The bank is located in the back of the dining room.
Successful bidders will receive pink bid slips delivered to
their table by a seminarian. The pink sheet is to notify
you that you do have an item which must be paid for at
the Bank (except for “Express Pay”) BEFORE you pick up your item.
The bank will pull all bid sheets from your bid number
file and tally your bid sheets for payment.
Cash, check or credit card (MasterCard, Visa and
Discover) will be accepted for payment.
After payment has been received by the bank, the bank
will mark your bid sheets “Paid.”
You will need to present your “Paid” bid sheets to the seminarians who will then assist you in getting your item
to your car.
All sales are final. There will be no exchanges or refunds
by Kenrick-Glennon Seminary or its donors unless
specifically stated.
All goods and services purchased at this Convivium
dinner auction shall be used at the sole risk of the
purchaser. Kenrick-Glennon Seminary shall not be
responsible or liable for any damage or injury occurring
to any user of auction-purchased goods and/or services.
All items are sold “as is” and Kenrick-Glennon Seminary
makes no warranty or guarantee as to the
merchantability or suitability of any such item.
Merchandise and certificates may not be returned to the
donor for exchange or refund unless noted in the
program description.
Donors of Silent Auction items are listed together in this
catalog as donated items may be combined. Other
donors are listed under the specific item donated.
The Convivium Committee has been diligent in striving
for accuracy in the Program. Please forgive any mistakes
or omissions.
EXPRESS PAY
Avoid Long Lines at the Bank!
Express Pay allows you to prepay for the items you will
purchase and avoid the long line at the bank at the end of the
evening. You may register for Express Pay in the lobby at the
beginning of the evening.
Register your credit card for the evening. MasterCard,
Visa or Discover will be accepted. Your credit card will
be imprinted and you will sign the charge slip. You will
be given a “P” label to be affixed in front of your bid number on your auction book. Please note: Your credit
card statement will show “Archdiocese of St. Louis,” not Kenrick-Glennon Seminary.
Bid like crazy! For ease in identifying “Express Pay” guests, please use a “P” in front of your bid number when bidding. Example: write P147.
Seminarians will deliver to your table a pink copy of the
bid sheet for each item you have won. The pink bid
sheet will be marked “Express Pay.”
Take your pink copy of the bid sheet marked “Express Pay” to the auction tables to collect your items from our seminarians.
Following the auction, you will be notified by mail of the
total amount charged to your credit card or the total
amount of your check.
TAX INFORMATION
Kenrick-Glennon Seminary is a tax-exempt charitable
organization described in Internal Revenue Code 501(c)(3).
Guests are encouraged to seek the advice of their tax advisors
as to the accuracy of the information which is being provided
and the tax consequences of their financial participation in
Convivium.
The Auction Committee believes that $60 per ticket is a
reasonable estimate of the fair market value of the
dinner, drinks and services provided.
When a guest purchases an auction item for a price
greater than the amount reflected as the fair market
value listed on the paid receipt, they may claim the
difference between the purchase price and the fair
market value as a charitable contribution.
When a guest purchases an item for a price that is less
than or equal to a value listed on their paid receipt, the
transaction is regarded as simply a purchase - not a
charitable contribution - and no portion of the purchase
price qualifies as a charitable contribution.
All cash gifts to Kenrick-Glennon Seminary qualify as
charitable contributions as long as the donor receives no
direct benefit in return. The Seminary will make every
effort to provide an acknowledgement for cash and noncash gifts.

2014 FUND-A-NEED
Holy Land Retreat and Pilgrimage
A pilgrimage to sacred places such as Bethlehem and
Jerusalem allows Christ’s life to become more real in the heart of the pilgrim. It is in this spirit that Kenrick-Glennon
Seminary sends men in their final year of seminary formation
on a pilgrimage and retreat in the Holy Land.
By walking in the footsteps of Jesus, scripture comes alive for
the seminarian and he can never read and pray the same
again.
We invite you to prayerfully consider sponsoring a
seminarian on this unique and awe-inspiring retreat and
pilgrimage.
During the Oral Auction, various sponsorship levels will be
announced. If you wish to donate, raise your bid number for
the level you wish to pledge and complete a Fund-A-Need
form. If you wish to make a private donation, please complete
the Fund-A-Need form at your table and give it to one of the
seminarians for delivery to the bank.
Thank you very much for your consideration of this important
endeavor!
Please note: The travel agency has made alternative
reservations if tensions in the Middle East are high at the time
of the pilgrimage. If the Holy Land is deemed unsafe, the
deacons will instead travel to Rome and the Vatican.
2014 FUND-A-NEED
Reflections from the Class of 2014
“One experience that was particularly moving happened early
in the morning when a classmate and I went to the Holy
Sepulchre to pray our holy hour in silence. Without the noise
of the crowds, I could take the time to contemplate this
profound mystery of Jesus dying for the forgiveness of our sins
in this very place expecting nothing in return except our love.”
Father David Hogan, Archdiocese of St. Louis
“Traveling to the Holy Land was an awesome experience!
Praying in the places where our Lord prayed and in the places
where the greatest events of our redemption took place really
is an experience beyond words. The highlight of my journey
was praying very early in the morning in front of Calvary–I will
never forget that experience.”
Father Yoelvis Gonzalez, Diocese of Memphis
“Seeing the holy sites, seeing the landscape, touching the holy
places, and taking in the culture – all these things will impact
the way I preach and teach. I feel so much more enriched.”
Father Adam Maus, Diocese of Bismarck

307. Gary Lucy Signed Print: "Eating Up The Lights"
"Travel by steamboat at night was very limited and rarely
attempted. Hidden snags, shifting sandbars and dangerous
currents were only a few of the ever present obstacles to
navigation. At night, all hazards were greatly magnified. On
occasion, pilots would find themselves only a few miles from
the next landing after sundown. In order to navigate through
any menacing areas, the crew would test and mark the
channel for safe passage using a technique they referred to as
EATING UP THE LIGHTS". Enjoy and cherish a fabulous signed
print of a painting by master Washington, Missouri artist,
Gary Lucy! Framed size is 20-5/8" x 25-1/2".

SPECIAL INVITATIONS FROM THE SEMINARY
Join Us in Prayer
We invite you to join us in praying for the needs of our future
priests and our Seminary community. Weekly intentions are
posted online at www.kenrick.edu/prayer. Each month, the
list of intentions is updated for the upcoming weeks. Please
remember our intentions in your daily prayers.
“Behind and before every vocation to the priesthood or the consecrated life, there is always the strong and
intense prayer of someone: a grandmother, a
grandfather, a mother, a father, a community.” ~Pope Francis
Advent Novena
We invite you to join our seminarians for nine evenings of
prayer and worship as we prepare our hearts and minds for
the joy and splendor of Christmas. The Advent Novena will
take place at the Seminary in the Chapel of St. Joseph in the
evenings between December 2nd and December 10th.
Open House
Would you like to take a tour of the seminary? Come visit our
campus between 1:00 and 4:00 p.m. on February 15th. During
our Open House, you will meet your future priests, learn
more about seminary life, and tour the renovated seminary.
All are welcome!
Save the Date
Make sure to save the date for the 2015 Convivium that will
be held on Saturday, November 7, 2015. We’ll be moving to a larger venue at the Four Seasons in downtown St. Louis.
Planned Giving
After years of faithful support, you may wish to plan a gift to
Kenrick-Glennon Seminary, legally titled the St. Louis Roman
Catholic Theological Seminary, as a personal legacy.
When you share God’s blessings with the seminary, you share those blessings with our future priests and all those they will
benefit from their priestly ministry. Please ensure that your
commitment to our Church extends beyond your lifetime by
making a planned gift to the seminary.
For more information about planned giving, contact
Development Director Kate Guyol at (314) 792-7435 or at
[email protected].
About Kenrick-Glennon Seminary
Founded in 1818, our seminary has a rich living history as a
place of faith, learning and fraternity. Kenrick-Glennon
Seminary serves many dioceses and several religious orders
and continues a rich heritage of philosophical, theological,
and priestly pastoral service while cognizant of the challenges
of contemporary evangelization.
Our seminary is comprised of Kenrick School of Theology, a
four-year graduate program that prepares men for ordination
to the priesthood; a two-year Pre-Theology program; and
Cardinal Glennon College, a four-year undergraduate program
that prepares men for ordination studies.
Learn More About Our Seminary
Visit our website at www.kenrick.edu to learn more about the
history of the school, hear about upcoming programs and
events, and discover an abundance of other resources from
our library.
Kenrick-Glennon is also on Twitter where
we have daily posts ranging from
information about upcoming social events
(such as the Souls and Goals annual soccer
match on November 6th) to daily scripture
quotes. Follow us at @kenrickglennon.
To conclude the evening, please join our seminarians in
singing the Salve Regina.
Salve, Regina, mater misericordiae:
Vita, dulcedo, et spes nostra, salve.
Ad te clamamus, exsules, filii Hevae.
Ad te suspiramus, gementes et flentes
in hac lacrimarum valle.
Eia ergo, Advocata nostra,
illos tuos misericordes oculos
ad nos converte.
Et Iesum, benedictum fructum ventris tui,
nobis, post hoc exsilium ostende.
O clemens: O pia: O dulcis
Virgo Maria
