Let’s escape the hustle and bustle and escape to Old World 3rd Street. We
begin with an overview of Milwaukee’s German history with sausage, cheese
and beer/root beer at the Wisconsin Cheese Mart. For much of the 19th
century, the Third Ward was Milwaukee’s biggest Irish neighborhood and
steeped in Third Wards history is Milwaukee’s famous Public Market where
you will have some time for shopping. You will enjoy a generous lunch at the
last remaining Polish Restaurant, Polonez. After lunch you can relax as we
tour along Milwaukee’s lakefront and Eastside. Although Milwaukee is known
for its German heritage, Italian immigrants also had a part in shaping the city
we’ll learn about Italian heritage in Milwaukee. We will also stop at Sciortino’s
and Gloriose’s, two amazing Italian bakeries/delis, for shopping and treats.
And if you still have room, we conclude with a lovely German dessert as we

Trip Policies and Procedures
Tickets
Upon registering, whether it is in person or on the phone, your
receipt will be your ticket confirmation. A complete list of all
names will be stored in our computer and you will be checked
off prior to boarding the bus.
Trip Refund Policy
In the past, we have been experiencing several last-minute
refund requests for various day and evening trips. Although we
realize that emergencies do arise, we need you to understand
that we have confirmed contracts with vendors, thus the
Village is NOT entitled to a refund. Because of these contracts,
NO REFUNDS will be given for any trip unless there is a waiting
list and a replacement for your reservation can be found or
you can find a replacement for your reservation. If this is the
case, you must notify the Recreation office immediately. Your
cooperation in this matter is appreciated. For refunds,
please allow 6-8 weeks for processing.
Deadline
For some trips, in order to secure the best group rate on tickets,
we have to have a deadline on the last day we can sell tickets.
Please note deadlines and dates.
Buses
For your comfort, we try to secure motor coaches when
possible. We generally use mini buses for short trips and
family outings. Because of the lack of outside waiting facilities,
we recommend that you do not come to the bus until ten (10)
minutes before leave time. No one will be allowed to board
the bus until a supervisor is present. PLEASE NOTE: If you
fail to return to the bus at the scheduled time you are
responsible for your own transportation home.
Bus Seating
Bus seating is on a first-come, first-serve basis. Patrons should
get in the bus line upon arriving at Village Commons. To accommodate everyone, we reserve the right to seat you on the
bus. Seats cannot be saved. We ask that patrons sit in the same
seat both to and from our destination. Anyone requiring
special assistance or accommodation MUST indicate
their needs at registration.
Waiting Lists
Waiting lists will be taken for all trips. If additional tickets can
be secured and another bus can be filled, we will accommodate those waiting. Once called, you will have a maximum of
48 hours to register in person or by phone or we continue to
call the next person on the wait list.
