In the middle of the circle is a scarf to cover the sweets (pupils
don’t know what is under the scarf).
Teacher: “I can see a scarf in the middle of this circle. I can see
it with my eyes.”
Pupils have to repeat it in chorus.
Teacher selects a pupil to put away the scarf.

Teacher says: “Oh! I can see many sweets with my eyes.

Teacher uses the wrapping paper to make some noises. You
can hear with your ears (gesture).
Teacher asks: “Can you show me your ears?”
Pupils have to repeat in chorus: “I can hear with my ears.”
Teacher unwraps one of the sweets. “Oooh it smells good. I can
smell the chocolate.”

Pupils unwrap their sweets and smell them. Teacher motivates
the pupils to speak in chorus: I can smell with my nose.
Teacher selects different pupils; They have to say the sentence
on their own.
Teacher eats a sweet. “Mmmmh that tastes good (gesture).
You can taste with your tongue.” Pupils have to repeat in
chorus: “I can taste with my tongue.”
Pupils have to repeat all the newly learned senses with the help
of the teachers and pictures on the board.
After that, the teacher explains station work.
Station 1: Here is a bag with different things. Always one pupil
can’t see but can touch a thing and think what it is (teacher
gives an example).

Station 2: Here are different things to eat. Always one pupil
can’t see but can eat something and then guess what it is
(teacher gives an example).
Station 3: Here you can’t see the things but you can smell and
guess what they are. Then take the sheet (teacher shows it)
and fill it in.
Station 4: Here you have different pictures. Try to link them
(memory).
Station 5: Here you hear some noises with the CD player. Try to
find out what noise it is.
Teacher creates groups of three and one group of four and
helps in the stations.

After that the teacher explains to the pupils why senses are so

- you wouldn’t feel it if I would touch you
- it would be boring to eat something without taste
- you would be blind (hands in front of the eyes)
- put your hands on your ears: how would it feel?

Teacher tells pupils: “We will have a look at all senses together
now. We hear a story.”
Every pupil gets 5 pictures
(nose, hand, etc.).
Teacher explains that they have to show the corresponding
picture whenever they hear the sense.
Teacher reads out an example and puts up the correct picture.

Little Pete goes to the supermarket
Little Pete hears his mum calling him: “Peter can you go to the supermarket? I need a pineapple, strawberries, sausages, cheese,
pepper and chocolate.
Pete: “Yes of course mummy! Bye bye!
Peter walks to the supermarket.
In the supermarket he sees the strawberries he has to buy. When he comes nearer he also can smell the strawberries. They smell
very fruity. Then Pete sees the pineapples, he takes one pineapple and says: “Autch!” Pete can feel that the pineapple is so prickly.
After that little Pete has to buy some sausages and cheese for his mother. The friendly woman gives him a sausage to taste. The
sausage tastes so good. He also has to buy some peppers; it tickles his nose and has to sneeze: “Hatschi!”
After he has bought some chocolate he pays for everything and walks home. On his way home he gets hungry and starts eating the
chocolate. The chocolate tastes so sweet and so good. Mmmh! He goes on walking and hears funny music. And then suddenly he
sees where the music comes from. It is a circus. But little Pete’s mother is waiting at home, so he has to go home. At home he can
hear his dog barking and when he opens the door he can smell the sweet taste of his mother’s cake.
His mother says: Thank you Pete, well done! You can eat a piece of cake now.
Finally Pete is very happy and can taste the sweet piece of cake now.
