might be excellent but the society is highly traditional or superstitious about the sea?
In his most remarkable folk history of surfing, Michael Scott Moore follows America’s
most influential sport as it goes global. Come and listen to the reading, enjoy some
special cocktails at the Amadeus Beach Lounge and listen to some surf music! –
Michael Scott Moore is a novelist and journalist from California who lives in Berlin,
where he works for Spiegel Online International.

In many churches in Europe you often find few folks in the pews. Religion does no longer seem to be a dynamic force in most Europeans’ lives. In America, however, opinion
polls find that 65 percent still say religion is an important part of their life. Yet most
Americans do not become member of a church to sign up for a crusade or to judge
on miserable sinners. – Dr. Howard P. Trauthig is a theologian from South Carolina.

verbreitete Sicht der Dinge: „Europa kann nicht mithalten“, so das Blatt mit Blick auf
die globale Wirtschaftsentwicklung. Andere Experten zeichnen indes ein alternatives
Bild: Europäische Firmen wachsen schneller, sind profitabler und für die Globalisierung besser gerüstet als die US-Konkurrenz. Auch in der gegenwärtigen Krise ist die
Zukunft alles andere als schwarz – solange Deutschland und Europa ihre Hausaufgaben

Sports in America- From Little Leagues
to Big Dreams
English speaking people from all over the world meet once a month for a good time, a
good drink, and good conversation.
Lecture/discussion with Christina Kessler
Professional athletes have to start somewhere. They aren’t, as the saying goes, born
with a racquet or bat in their hands. Before they were playing in Superbowls or World
Series, they were dreaming about it. Sports play a huge role in all school levels in America. Focusing mainly on youth sports and the middle school to collegiate years, this
talk will go into further detail about school-age sports and tell you why sports are such
an important aspect of social life shaping many students‘ lives. – Christina Kessler, a
native of Kansas, is a former sports writer for the University Daily Kansan. Entrance fee:
