Hallo Laserdisc- und DVDFans,
liebe Filmfreunde!
Geht es Ihnen auch so? Da geht
man an nichts Böses denkend zu
einem Bäcker seines Vertrauens,
um ein Brot zu kaufen. Das nette
Mädel hinter der Ladentheke
holt das gewünschte Brot aus
dem Regal, legt es auf den Tisch
vor sich und fragt mit einem
strahlenden Lächeln: ”Geschnitten?”. Dieses eine Wort trifft einen wie ein Blitz. Für Bruchteile
von Sekunden bleibt man vollkommen erstarrt und mit weit
aufgerissenen Augen und offenem Mund an der Theke stehen.
Seltsame Gedanken schießen einem durch den Kopf: ”Genügt es
nicht, dass in Deutschland ständig Filme geschnitten werden?
Legt jetzt auch noch die Bäckerinnung ihre Hand an?” Die
Schrecksekunde vergeht
dankbarerweise sehr schnell und
man kommt wieder zu sich. Auf
die kesse Frage der Verkäuferin
kann es nur eine logische Antwort geben: ”Nein, natürlich
ungeschnitten!” Auch wenn unser kleiner Prolog für dieses Editorial nicht allzu ernst genommen werden sollte, so steckt
doch ein wahrer Kern in der Geschichte. Denn als Filmfan in
deutschen Landen ist man inzwischen schon sehr sensibilisiert
was das Schneiden (sprich: Kürzen) von Filmen angeht. Die Anzahl der Filme, die in den vergangenen Monaten das Licht der
(DVD)Welt nur in gekürzter
Form erblicken durften, nahm
rapide zu. Ob das nur an den
härteren Richtlinien der FSK
(Freiwillige Selbstkontrolle)

liegt oder auch an der dubiosen
Vermarktungsstrategie einiger
Anbieter, sei einmal dahingestellt. Egal wie die Gründe sind
- wir werden auch weiterhin bemüht sein, Sie möglichst mit den
längsten verfügbaren Versionen

Geänderte Telefonzeiten
Wer in den letzten Wochen des
Öfteren versucht hat, unsere telefonische Bestellannahme in
der Zeit vor 16 Uhr zu erreichen,
der musste leider immer wieder
mit unserem Anrufbeantworter
Vorlieb nehmen. Grund dafür ist
eine neue Tätigkeit, die wir vor
einiger Zeit bereits in Angriff
genommen haben. Denn eine der
großen Tageszeitungen in der
Region hat uns als Filmkritiker
mit ins Boot geholt. Das hat zur
Folge, dass wir uns nun jede
Woche eine ganze Menge Filme
als Pressevorführungen im Kino
ansehen dürfen, um diese dann
im Anschluss zu rezensieren.
Üblicherweise finden solche
Screenings immer Vormittags
statt. Oftmals gibt es aber auch
gleich zwei Filme in Folge, so
dass die Pressetermine oft erst
am Nachmittag zu Ende sind.
Wir haben uns daher entschlossen, die Zeiten unseres Telefondienstes abzuändern. Damit können Sie uns künftig erst ab 16
Uhr erreichen. Wir bitten um Ihr
Verständnis

der Lebensmittelgeschäfte stehen, ist klar, dass Weihnachten

jump headlong into their characters, which results in a film
that is a challenging viewing experience but emotionally

vary depending upon versions of the film. Count Orlok,
the rodentlike vampire frighteningly portrayed by Max
Schreck, is perhaps the most animalistic screen portrayal
of a vampire ever filmed. The design was copied by
Werner Herzog in his 1979 remake and by Tobe Hooper
for his telefilm of Stephen King’s SALEM’S LOT that same
year. NOSFERATU is an eerie, menacing film that should
