Enrollment Agreements for 2016/17
By now we have received approximately 25% of the enrollment agreements for next year from our
families. We would like to take this opportunity to remind you to sign and return the agreements by no
later than May 16th in order to take advantage of the early payer discount.
Also we cannot hold any places for your child(ren) if we have not received the signed enrollment
agreement by May 16th.
As important as the above request is that you inform us if you will be leaving or withdrawing your
child(ren) as soon as possible and submit the “Abmeldeantrag” to the Front Office.
Wir haben bisher ungefähr 25% der Enrollment Agreements für das nächste Schuljahr von Ihnen
bekommen. Wir würden Sie hiermit gerne daran erinnern, dieser Verträge bis spätestens zum 16. Mai
abzugeben, um sich für den Frühzahlerrabatt zu qualifizieren.
Außerdem können wir keine Plätze für Ihre Kinder garantieren oder reservieren, wenn wir das Enrollment
Agreement bis zum 16. Mai nicht erhalten haben.
Genauso wichtig wie diese Bitte ist die folgende: falls Sie wegziehen oder Ihr(e) Kind(er) abmelden
werden, informieren Sie bitte umgehend das Front Office darüber, indem Sie den ausgefüllten
Abmeldeantrag dort abgeben.

New requirement for the Meningococcal Vaccine
Beginning with September 2016, students entering or attending seventh and twelfth grade will be
required to receive an adequate dose or doses of vaccine against meningococcal disease. Please read
the attachment for details.
Neu für September 2016: Eine Meningokokken-Impfung für Schüler der 7. und 12 Klassen sind zukünftig
vorgeschrieben. Bitte lesen Sie den Anhang für weitere Details.
Track & Field Update
On April 21st the Track & Field team attended a meet at the New York School of the Deaf. Our athletes
competed against the host team, the New Jersey School of the Deaf, Lexington School for the Deaf, and
Mill Neck Manor School for the deaf. Antonia Raab competed in the 800m and 1600m, Moritz Liedl the
100m and long jump, and Marcel Spies the long jump. Please

The Running Club has been very active this season! The club
competed in the Rye Derby and Healthy Kids Day on April
25th. This was one of the largest turnouts we’ve had at a race
with ten runners running the 5k course and 18 runners
competing in the 1 mile race. Congratulations to all the runners

who came out and competed! Special mention to runners setting new 5K PRs: Sven Wannanwetsch (3rd
grade) placing 35th in 24:47, Ben Bernhardt (3rd grade) placing 38th in 24:55, and Sarah Bernhardt (4th
grade) placing 63rd in 26:29. Thank you to all of the parents, families, and friends that came out and
cheered us all on.
The Burke Heels & Wheels 5K and Fun Run
was Sunday, May 1st and the rain didn’t stop
the Running Club from competing. The 5K
run was minutes from our school along
Mamaroneck Avenue, Ridgeway Road, and
the nearby neighborhoods. For the 5K, Sven
Wannenwetsch (3rd grade) placed 9th, Patrick
Baur (5th grade) placed 14th, and Theresa
Studt (5th grade) placed 16th in the overall
results, out of 69 runners. Special mention
to Theresa Daehne for placing third in her
age group, Mr. Wannenwetsch for finishing
1st in his age group, and Mrs. Doran for
running her first 5K! Congratulation to the
Fun Run runners (Nicholas Rueda, Claire Michon, and Amelie Michon) for sprinting in the rain!

Känguru (Math) Competition 2016
SENSATIONAL results in this year’s international Math
Känguru competition:
Lennart Martens (7b) solved all 30 problems correctly and
received 150 points out of 150.
Only eight out of 95 737 students of grade seven have
been able to the same!
Try it out yourself, whether YOU would be able to do the

In total, 845 048 students in Germany took part in this math competition.
But this is still not all! We are proud to announce that six more GIS students won in category I, four in
category II, and seven in category III.

MOMO – Theater AG II
Bei der Aufführung von Momo, die an der Deutschen Internationalen Schule im März stattfand, fiel mir
folgendes auf: das große Einfühlungsvermögen und die spielerische Fantasie der jungen Akteure. Vor
allem fand ich die Wahl dieses Stückes besonders in diesen hektischen Zeiten sehr angebracht. Wir

THE PARTY team wants to say "Thank you" to all party people who made last Saturday truly a great
evening of celebration. We were happy that so many of you enjoyed the food, drinks and music.
