Swisslog executes its software projects by using Polarion to cover the whole lifecycle. With a central concept of software library and its functional tree, traceability is ensured starting from the use of standard templates. Requirements are represented
by work items that can be interconnected, such work items are also used to represent design elements, implementation tasks,
defects. The linkage between work items is managed within the software library and thus spares the need to keep external
excel sheets to maintain traceability from requirements to defect, via design, test cases and code.

reorganization requires often extensive engineering and it carries risks regarding downtime. Nevertheless it can be beneficial
in terms of performance and capacity optimization and standardization. Oracle provides some nice features like online redefinition or GoldenGate. However those have either limitations or cost money. During many projects I developed an affordable
approach that mitigate the risk, minimizes downtime and is independent of the current production.
