Garden Club Seeks Projects In
Need of Funding
The Amherst Garden Club’s 2011 Garden Tour was a great success. The
proceeds from that Tour are now available to be dispersed to individuals
and organizations that have projects in need of funding. The projects must
support the Mission Statement of the Amherst Garden Club which reads:
“Our mission is to provide education, resources and networking opportunities for our Members to promote the love of gardening, civic landscaping and environmental responsibility.”
Additionally, the project must be in Amherst.
To apply for funding, please provide the following:
1. Background information on your project and how it supports the Mission Statement above.
2. Your plan for using the awarded funds.
3. The amount of money you are requesting.
Zollei - Hu
Dr.Wen and Juiyuan Hu of Amherst are pleased to announce the
engagement of their daughter, Cathleen Hu, to Istvan Zollei, son of
Dr. Istvan Zollei and Dr. Eva Varga Zollei of Szeged, Hungary.
Miss Hu is a 2001 graduate of Souhegan High School, and obtained a B.S. in engineering from Cornell University in 2005.
She is a VP of trading operations at Moon Capital Management,
located in New York, NY.
Mr. Zollei is a 2003 graduate of Harvard University with a Bachelor’s degree in economics, and obtained his MBA degree in finance and management from Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania in 2008.
He works as vice president at a private equity fund in New York,
NY.
The happy couple is planning a 2013 summer wedding.

Dr. and Mrs. Pietro Savo of Mont Vernon announce the engagement of their daughter, Bridget Leigh to Michael Wayne Phillips of
West Roxbury Massachusetts.
He is the son of Wayne and Romilta Phillips also of West Roxbury Massachusetts.
Bridget is a 2004 graduate of Souhegan High School in Amherst.
She is also a 2008 graduate of New England College in Henniker
NH with a BA in elementary education and special education. She
is a certified elementary and special education teacher and is currently teaching in New Hampshire. In addition she volunteers as
a seventh and eighth grade Religious Education teacher at St Patrick’s Parish in Milford.
Michael is a 2003 graduate of Boston Latin Academy and a 2006
graduate of Universal Technical Institute. He is employed at Mercedes-Benz of Westwood Massachusetts as a Master Technician. A summer 2012 wedding is planned. They will reside in Merrimack.

Amherst Town Band Spring Benefit Concert May 12
The Humane Society for Greater Nashua is pleased to be the beneficiary of the upcoming concert,
“Spring Pops Concert for the PAWS”
with the Amherst Town Band and a
selection of tunes from the Souhegan High School Acappella Singers.
The concert will be held on Saturday, May 12, 2012 at Souhegan High
School, starting at 7:00 p.m. The
suggested minimum donation for
tickets is $5.00 per ticket.Refreshments will also be available.
The Amherst Town Band will be
performing a Pops style program
with a mix of standard band literature, Broadway show tunes, Jazz,
and marches. For more information

The Acappella Singers will be performing a variety of popular music
selections as well as an original student composition.
