Welcome…… It is with great pleasure that the members of the Lyceum Clubs of the Netherlands welcome you to take part in the 33rd International Congress of the International Association of Lyceum Clubs. The Netherlands is a so called ‘low country’ in western Europe. Almost half the landmass lies below sea level. The struggle against the water and the opportunities provided by the same water for prosperity and wealth made the people of the Netherlands what they are today. Amsterdam is the capital of the Netherlands; a city with a magnificent history, going back over 800 years. The congress will take place in the Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky, which is located in the centre of the city. There will be a number of rooms available in the hotel for those who wish to stay close to all events. There are also several hotels in the area at a wide price range. -‐
