PROGRAM
WILLKOMMEN
WELCOME
danach formt unser Werkzeug uns.“
More than half-century ago, media theorist
Marshall McLuhan stated that ‘the medium is
the message’, and saw in advance the way in
which digital technologies would change our
daily lives. The bit-frenzy is changing our
society, culture, and our brains for the
long-term. Or, as McLuhan knew: “We shape
our tools and then our tools shape us.”
Neue Technologien öffnen heute neue Möglichkeiten
künstlerischen Potenzials. Es entstehen Kunstwerke,
die auf die Digitalisierung reagieren, auch dann
wenn sie nicht zwangsläufig das digitale Format
widerspiegeln.
Today, new technologies open up new possibilities for artistic potential. Artworks are being
created, which react to digitalisation, even if
they do not necessarily reflect the digital format
itself. The global technical networks thereby bring
about new atmospheres, or perhaps, 'infospheres‘,
as media theorist Peter Weibel calls them. In
the art world, previously held art-historical
considerations are forced towards a re-evaluation.
Conventional theories and practices must be called into question. New art forms in the immaterial
digital domain demand a general rethink in terms of
their conservation, presentation and acquisition.
And, of course, the reception of digital art is
also different.
UNPAINTED is a unique platform, which deals
with these issues and brings together artists
that use digital technology as a tool and a
medium since many years. A total of 40 artists
from around the world have announced their
participation for UNPAINTED lab 3.0.
viele neue Erlebnisse.
On behalf of our team we would like to extend a
welcome to all guests. We are looking forward to
some exciting days.
