Yard Sale
& Flea Market
COMMAND PAVILION
Saturday, November 6th
Bargain shoppers get ready for the Post Wide Yard
Sale and Flea Market, Saturday, Nov. 6 at the Command Pavilion located at Stanley and Harry Wurzbach Road. Whether you are in the market to sell or
buy, there is something for everyone. DoD ID card
holders living on or off post must register to sell their
items at the flea market no later than Thursday, Nov.
4. Tables and chairs are available for rent on a first
come, first served basis from the OEC to be used at
the Command Pavilion Flea Market. Yard Sale participants do not need to register to sell items from
their own homes on post. This event is opened to the
public for purchasing. Visitors should be prepared to
provide a valid state or government issued driver’s
license or photo ID for all individuals ages 16 and up
and have current registration stickers and insurance
for their vehicle.

Tournament
Sam Houston Community Center
Friday, November 19th @ 6 p.m.
Put on your poker face and get over to the Sam
Houston Community Center, bldg. 1395 on Chaffee
Road, Friday, Nov. 19 at 6 p.m. for a Texas Hold’Em
Tournament. Players have the opportunity to win
great prizes! The cost is $20, which includes a special meal and unlimited soft drinks. All tournaments
are held at the Sam Houston Community Club and
begin at 6 p.m. Participants must be 18 or older and
must register to play before the event begins.

Community Holiday
Tree Lighting
502nd MSG Flag Pole
Wednesday, December 1st @ 6 - 8 p.m.
Fort Sam Houston will commence the holiday season
with our annual Community Tree Lighting Ceremony
at the 502nd MSG Flag Pole on Wednesday, Dec. 1
from 6 to 8 p.m. The tree lighting is open to the entire
Fort Sam Houston community. At the ceremony, holiday favorites will be performed by the Army Medical
Command Band, as well as students from the Fort
Sam Houston schools. There will be door prizes,
arts and crafts, a reading of “T’was the Night Before
Christmas,” refreshments, professional pictures with
Santa Claus and even artificial snow and sledding
hill!

Lakeside Magical
Christmas
CANYON LAKE
December 3rd - 18th, Weekends Only
Bring your friends and family to a “Lakeside Magical
Christmas”, a new family-oriented, self-paced driving tour that includes more than 50 Christmas scenes
and lighted displays. Visit the north shore of Canyon
Lake, Randolph Recreation Park weekends from Dec
3 - Dec 18. At the end of the driving tour, you can
stop at Santa’s Lakeside Pavilion overlooking the
Randolph Marina on the shores of Canyon Lake and
visit with Santa at his South Texas workshop, Saturdays from 6 - 10 p.m. and Sundays from 6 - 8 p.m.
Get a decorated photo card taken with Santa, holiday
gifts, crafts and refreshments. The cost is $20 per car
at the Jacobs Creek Park gate. Anyone authorized
access to Randolph AFB may purchase advance
tickets for $16 from Outdoor Rec/ITT in Bldg 897.

Scramble
FORT SAM HOUSTON GOLF CLUB
Friday, November 5th @ 1 p.m.
Get out and enjoy the crisp autumn air in San Antonio
at the Warrior Golf Scramble on Friday, Nov. 5 at 1
p.m. at the Sam Houston Golf Club, 1050 Harry Wurzbach Rd. Register up to 2 players to participate. Entry
fee is $25 per person for military, $35 for non-military,
which includes cart rental and admission to the social
immediately following the scramble. Players must be
DoD ID cardholders.

Library
Bookworm or not, our library on post has something
for everyone. The Keith A. Campbell Memorial Library,
building 1222, at Harney and Chaffee Roads is open
Tuesday through Friday from 9 a.m. - 8 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. - 8 p.m.
Heroes’ Tree Celebration
Tuesday, November 16th
The Keith A. Campbell Memorial Library is hosting a
Heroes’ Tree now through Nov. 16 to recognize the significance of the selfless service of all Servicemembers.
Participants may place an ornament on the tree or bring
a photo with a brief story on their hero. Photos should
be no larger than 3 x 3 inches. The Celebrate Our Heroes Reception will be held Tuesday, Nov. 16 at 2:30 p.m.
The Heroes’ Tree is a national initiative and community
outreach program for libraries, sponsored by the Military Family Research Institute at Purdue University.

Story Time at the Library
Thursdays @ 10 a.m.
Enjoy some relaxing “time out” while your toddler or
preschooler enjoys story time every Thursday at 10
a.m. Children can also create mini masterpieces in arts
and crafts and develop their ears for music by singing
songs with library staff. Parents are welcome to join in
the fun as well! Once a month, a special guest speaker
will be invited to read.

First Sunday of every month @ 3 - 5 p.m.
Join us to play for Wii, PS3, XBox 360, board games,

The EDGE! Program
PARENT CENTRAL
This program offers out-of-school opportunities for youths
ages 6 to 18 to experience, develop, grow and excel by
participating in cutting-edge art, fitness, life skills and adventure activities. November EDGE! programs include:
cooking, horse camp, roller skating, stain glass making,
martial arts, Fort Sam’s most talented, ceramics, swimming
and laser tag. The EDGE! program is open to dependents
of all branches of the Military, DoD Civilians, Government
Contractors and Retirees. Registration is free and is done at
Parent Central, bldg. 2797, Stanley Road.

Big Bucks Bingo
ARMY COMMUNITY SERVICES (ACS)
Saturday, December 4th @ Noon
Big Bucks Bingo will be held Saturday, Dec. 4 at the Army
Community Services (ACS) bldg. 2797, Stanley Road. All
bingo games will be held at ACS until renovations of the Sam
Houston Community Center are complete. Doors open at
10 a.m., bingo begins at noon. There will be 12 games, each
worth $1,000 and four Early Birds at $250 each.

Youth Basketball
Registration
PARENT CENTRAL
Monday, November 1st
CYS Services basketball registration begins Monday, Nov. 1 and is open to youths 3 to 15 years old.
Registration must be done at Parent Central, bldg.
2797, Stanley Road. The registration fee is $50 and
players must have a current physical and shot records to participate. Basketball practices start the
first week of December.

Season Opens
CAMP BULLIS OUTDOOR RECREATION CENTER
Saturday, November 13th
Get into the wild! Archery Deer hunting is open through
Nov. 30 and Rifle Deer Hunting season begins starting
Saturday, Nov. 13 at the Camp Bullis Outdoor Recreation Center! Hunting is open to all DoD ID cardholders. You must purchase a Texas State hunting license and a Camp Bullis hunting permit/activity card.
Firearms must be registered with the Camp Bullis
Outdoor Recreation Center. Other activities at Camp
Bullis include: rifle-hunting stands (deer, turkey, exotic), turkey-hunting blinds (fall season), archery hunting
areas, dove-hunting areas and pay-as-you go catfish
pond. Park and hunting lodges are available for rent
for private and official functions.

“Driving Miss Daisy”
HARLEQUIN DINNER THEATRE
November 18th - December 18th
Join the Harlequin Dinner Theatre for this American
classic about the relationship of an elderly Southern
Jewish woman and her African-American chauffeur.
This poignant and heartwarming play by Alfred Uhry
will be performed 18 Nov. -18 Dec. Dinner is served
at 6:15 p.m. with an 8 p.m. curtain. Tickets for dinner and show are $33 for civilians, $30 for Military,
$26 for students, and $16.50 for children 12 & under.
