COMMUNITY CALENDAR
Arthur Adams at the SLO Vets Hall
This charming and unexpected trio features Sutton’s lush vocals
with DownBeat’s “flutist of the year,” Hubert Laws, and stellar
guitar by Larry Koonse. The combined talent of Sutton, Laws and
Koonse represents one of the most creative forces in jazz today, as
they explore the interplay between jazz and chamber music. The
inherent intimacy of their blend should make for an unforgettable
evening of sonic exploration. Tierney Sutton normally travels with
her own stellar band, but this collaboration is one of the most touted trios in jazz today. Tickets are $100 for patron, $45 for section
A and $35 for section B. Tickets are subject to $5 per ticket Lobero
Facility Fee; other fees may also apply. The concert will feature
an opportunity for area jazz students to win a grant for school jazz
programs. Students wishing to purchase student tickets and be entered to win the Luci and Richard Janssen Youth Jazz Grant should
contact Holly Chadwin at 805-966-4946 x 613. For more information, call (805) 963-0761 or visit www.lobero.com.

The San Luis Obispo Blues Society welcomes Arthur Adams. Arthur’s freight train guitar and soul-steeped vocals, combined with
his prolific predilection for writing great material (often in conjunction with award-winning composer Will Jennings), are all brilliantly showcased on his Blind Pig debut Back On Track, his first
album in two decades. The set features two sparkling duets (“Got
You Next To Me” and “The Long Haul”) pairing Adams with his
principal stylistic influence, the great B.B. King, and his regal presence is quite an honor for his long time friend Arthur. The Cinders Blues Band opens the show. Tickets are $17 for Blues Society
members and $20 for the general public. All tickets are sold at the
door. SLO Dance offers free dance lessons at 7:30pm. 21 and over,
