•What’s On Tap: The sprint for the finish line begins Thursdays as the final two SWAC regular‐season games will carry great significance for positioning in the standings heading into next week’s 2010 Farmers SWAC Basketball Tournament. With four current ties in the standings, including the top four positions, several of Thursday’s and Saturday’s match‐ups will prove key in clinching final positions for the championship run. •Key Match‐ups: Prairie View A&M vs. Southern: Thursday’s matchup between the Lady Panthers and Jaguars will be a significant one as the two teams are currently tied for first in the standings. PV dominated SU 67‐48 in its first meeting, however the Jaguars have since won 12 out of 15. Each team will look to get the upper hand in clinching the number #1 seed in the bracket. Grambling State vs. Alabama A&M: This will be a battle of two teams currently tied for third in the rankings. The Bulldogs won the first match up 55‐51 but the Lady Tigers are on the hottest win streak of the conference having won their last seven games. Each team has beat both SU and PV once this season, which could mean a tie breaker scenario depending on various outcomes. Miss. Valley State vs. Arkansas‐Pine Bluff: Currently tied at seventh place, these teams are fighting for an invitation to next week’s big dance. Both teams suffered two critical losses last weekend and will need a win in its only game of the week to separate itself from the bottom of the pack. MVSU won the first meeting 80‐68. •SWAC Tie‐Breaker Procedure: 1) Two‐team ties: a. Head‐to‐Head competition b. Point differential between tied teams in head‐to‐head matchups c. Record against highest seeded team (proceed downward) d. Coin Toss 2) Ties involving three or more teams: a. Record between teams that are tied (Won‐Lost Record) b. If still tied, record against the highest seed & proceed downward c. Coin‐toss SWAC Women’s Basketball Players of the Week
