A MESSAGE TO THE PARENT
This "Get Well Coloring Book" was produced with the
advice of physicians as a happy reminder to a child of his
hospital experience. It also helps the child of appropriate age
to understand more about this big, mysterious place.
Much of the success of this hospital experience depends
on you. "Rules" have been cut to the barest minimum for
efficient care. It would help a great deal if you, in simple
terms, explain to your child why "things are different" in hospitals.
If you wish to bring in food, please check with the
nurse before you do so.
Be honest with your child. Do not tell him he is going
home tomorrow when it is not so. When visiting hours are
over, tell him honestly you are going home, and when you will
return.
Please don't use the doctor, "the needle", or the hospital

as a disciplinary threat at any time.
We hope this hospital experience will be, within reasonable limits, a pleasurable experience both for your child and
for you.
