How to import references
Import references from BIBSYS directly from EndNote
With EndNote X5 you have to download a connection file to search BIBSYS Ask. See
http://www.bi.edu/library/endnote/bibsys for details.
Select whether to use the online search that imports the results automatically into your
EndNote library, or the temporary online search that requires moving references to the
permanent library. We strongly recommend to perform the search in Online Search
Mode (Temporary library)
Select Online Search Mode (Temporary Library) by clicking on the globe-icon.
Under ”Online search” you will find the last used databases. If BIBSYS is not here,
click ”more…” and find BIBSYS in the dialog box:

When the connection has been made, EndNote displays a Search tab:
Example:
NB! Use Personal Author (Last, First) when searching for authors in BIBSYS.
Use the abbreviation character ”?” if you don’t have the complete name.
The dialog box displays the number of references that were found to match your
search request:
Click OK to retrieve the references.

Compressed library
You can save your complete library (the filename.enl file as well as its associated
.DATA folder and all of its contents) to a single compressed filename.enlx file in order
to easily back up your library or send a copy to a colleague or fellow student. Later,
you can easily restore (unzip) the compressed library with EndNote.
To restore the compressed library file use Endnote to open the filename.enlx file,
which will extract the . ENL file and the .DATA folder to the same folder where the .
enlx file is located.
Use EndNote to open the filename.enl file as you normally would to use the library.
