COMMUNITY IMPACT: FACES OF SUCCESS
KINDERGARTEN AND READ UP CAMPS
Kindergarten is a big milestone! We help our
littlest learners get ready for the big day with FREE
Kindergarten Countdown Camps. This year, we
partnered to expand summer learning and helped
kiddos get caught up in reading. Kids improved
reading scores by 97%! Grade-level reading by
3rd grade is crucial and a turning point from
learning to read to reading to learn.
FREE TAX PREP
Our Free Tax Site saves people $172,700 in filing
fees so ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained,
Employed) families can pay for necessities
like housing, food, and child care. In 2015, we
completed 1,727 tax returns with 28 IRS-trained
volunteers and brought $1.9 million into our
county. Our average client makes $15,848 but our
doors are open to anyone making under $60,000.
MEET UP & EAT UP!
We kick in when school lets out. At no cost, this
collaboration supplies a midday meal to kids
under 18 - then we add fun! Every day brings
something different; crafts, games, theater,
sports. We learned about fire trucks & safety,
healthy eating habits, checked out library books,
and made new friends. This year, the number of
kids eating healthy meals doubled.
EDUCATION

school.
